I truly don't believe most prisoners will ever change.
Given enough incentive, anyone can change.
I know about one in fiifty will, but to me, that's not good enough. Nothing anyone can say can justify rape, no matter how ''sorry'' the rapist might be. If they were truly sorry, they would accept real punishment. Like that Tookie guy , the gang guy who found god on death row (funny how that happens) and then appealed his death sentence. Ironically, he heard no appeals from those he sent to kill for him. If he was truly sorry, he would have accepted his consequences for his actions instead of trying to weasel out of it.
I'm sorry, but that's a fairly flawed arguement. People like living. It's simple human nature. A person can truely be sorry and still not want to die. Especially if they want to actually try and make up for what they did by contributing something to society, instead of simply ending their lives. And that's not trying to justify what they did. Not in the slightest. It's trying to do something for the society that they harmed because they feel true remorse. And that in my mind is much better than simply killing them.
