Civil War: How the hell is Iron man the bad guy???

You think I think it's good he died....not at all....but at the end of the day he brought it on himself. Would a taser have been better? Yes. But I'm not crying over someone who could have prevented his own fate.
Yeah, I'm not crying over that woman who was raped and killed in Harlem yesterday. If she hadn't been out late it and been so vulnerable wouldn't have happened. I'm not crying over someone who could prevent their own fate.

I don't think he should have been killed for his crime, but I'm not gonna blame the cop for what happened. The guy ran. Should he have died? Did he deserve to die? No to both. But I can understand why the cop did it. I'm not gonna make him out to be the bad guy. It was unfortunate but it wasn't really his fault.

Darth despite our many differences, I think you are a good guy, but I just can't blame the cop. I'm not saying the kid deserved to die, but that I can't blame the cop either.
Thats stupid. What if the guy was innocent and just paniced. It happens. Is that justified? This is why in police academys cops are taught to chase down subjects and only shoot if they are armed and reveal their weapon.

But it's ok that they did it to the other person? Why should they get to live when they did the very thing you disagree with? How can you make up, EVER, taking a life or raping someone?

Of course it's not okay. But they should get to live because I disagree with people killing people when it isn't necessairy.

How do you make up for killing someone? You cant. Unless they can bring their victims back then anything they do to make up for their crimes is too little too late.

True, there's not anything they could truely do to make up for what they did. But they could still become better people and contribute something to society.

When the cop kills an unnarmed man he becomes a criminal himself.

Not if the guy is a criminal who is trying to get away.

I was too harsh yesterday, the kid didn't deserve to die...he's not exactly a rapist or murder. But I can't really blame the cop either....he shouldn't have shot him, but I don't want to second guess in such a high pressure situation. The kid may have been armed or dangerous for all the cop knew. I still feel a little sorry for the kid though he should have known better,

Cops are scary. At least, they are when they're yelling at you and trying to arrest you. When you're about to be arrested, especially when you know you're going to get in some kind of trouble, the first reaction in your mind isn't to calmly comply with the officer and reason your case. It's to run like hell. And most people don't expect to get shot over stealing 16 bucks. I'm not saying the kid wasn't dumb, but I don't entirely blame him for his first reaction being to run. And, I must say, there are grounds upon which to say that the officer did break the law. When a suspect runs, they're first response is supposed to be to chase after them, not to shoot them. However, I'm not aware of the full circumstances, and can think of plenty of cenarios that would justify the officer opening fire. So, I can't really say if he should be blamed for anything.

Upon reflection, I don't think the cop should have opened fire. The kid did commit a crime, but it's not anywhere near the level he deserved to be shot. But on the other hand, like you say, there could be circumstances where the cop felt like he had to. I don't want to place blame, though, especially not on a cop who's job is hard enough as it is without having untrained civillians trying to judge him.

But I was way too harsh yesterday and was a little ashamed of myself for that.

Well, if a cop screws up, I think he or she should be blamed. But I agree, there are lots of variables in any situation that can effect judgement, for good or for ill.

However, legally speaking, the severity of the crime commited has little to do with it. A police officer isn't supposed to open fire simply because a suspect runs. He or she is supposed to chase after the suspect, and only open fire if the suspect presents a weapon or proves to be an imediate danger to the officer or any bystanders.

Of course, I'm not adressing the morality of the subject. Simply the legality.

But I was way too harsh yesterday and was a little ashamed of myself for that.

Don't sweat it. I'm ashamed of myself all the time.

You shouldn't be. we disagree in a lot of areas, but you are a good guy (no ass kissing, just sincere :P ).

Thanks. 'Course, I'm a might bit more neurotic in real life than I seem on the web.

Horrorfan I apologize. And if the kid ran and then suddenly turned around I could understand the officer reacting and firing. The whole shot in the back thing sucks to high heaven though.

LOL You have nothing to apologise about, dont worry about it :)

Aw that was internet peace at its finest.

I imagine, what could a person POSSIBLY be stealing 16 bucks for any way? It's not quite enough for any adequate amount of drugs, had to be food. So yeah, I'd probably kick that cop in the teeth that is of course if the kid didn't really steal 16 bucks and I don't know what I'm talking about. Either way, I've met some ******* cops in my life time, plenty of them (you try living in Detroit). A lot of the reactions they get from people is because of those very same experiences. Cops just don't stand under the "Good Guy" sign anymore.

I know all that, I was simply saying that killing a evil bad guy doesn't make you any less of a "Hero".

It does when said hero - say, Spider-Man or Batman - have no legal authority to kill criminals (as a police officer does) and therefore killing a criminal in the line of duty would more than likely be classified as murder.

While cops may be crappy there, stealing IS stealing. If anything, the cop does him a favour by putting him in jail where he can be fed.
