Clark's glasses

Can anyone explain the cons of the time travel 'cop-out' better than me?

I could give you a dozen different cons, but the thing is, they dont have to put any time travel issues in there if they dont choose to.

I think the problem with magical glasses is that how many people that know what he looks like are gonna be like wh the hell is that guy saying he's Clark Kent. TTo me the time travel explanation would go against Clarks view on time travel. If he isn't willing to time travel to save Jimmy how would you explain away time traveling just to tell young CK or Johnathan and Martha that wear glasses so people wont realize who you are when your Superman. And the way SV has been set up it would effect the time line a great deal. I mean how would it not effect the story from the first 3-4 seasons. Personaly hypnotism kinda seems like the best way to explane why people can't tell the difference between CK and SM. But I still think it should have to do with the suit and not glasses. And SatEl I don't know exactly who you're talking about CK meeting before he should. But in the Pre-Crisis Superboy did meet a lot of the people that have been on the show in the comics. Zod's first appearence was even in a Superboy comic. Aquaman and Green Arrow where both in Superboy. Lana even had a super power in the SB comics. It wasn't like the shows version of Super Lana but she did have powers.

Batman Does it again . His explanation about Clark's disguise is exactly right .

"By going maskless as Superman you divert most people from thinking you spend part of your time as someone else. After all, its not like you'd wear a mask in civilian life."

did he figure out his identity from his fingerprints?

so Superman should wear gloves?

Batman figured it out from Martha Kent's scrapbook collection of Pre & Post Superman newspaper articles . From his first heroic deed in Smallville , to other mysterious reports of super-heroic rescues that occurred around the world, to finally Superman's public debut in Metropolis saving Lois Lane for the very first time .

I still am going with magic glasses from Zatanna or Dr.Fate. :)

What issue is this?

Jimmy did the same thing last season. He noticed the number of "saves" in smallville and then all of a suddden, there were a lot of "saves" in Metropolis just as Clark Kent started to work at the DP. He deduced that Clark is the Blur all by himself. I guess he was Smallville's Batman. Too bad he's dead. :csad:

Wow i like that, people wouldn't ever think Clark was Superman cause they wouldn't think Superman had a second identity in the first place..Nice!

That right, In fact Lex Luthor himself disbelieved that same theory . In Superman (1987)# 2. Luthor couldn't believe An Alien with Powers beyond those of mortal men, would actually have a duel Identity where he lived among us as a Mild Mannered Reporter. He was so upset with his analysis that he fired her right on the spot .

I think people forget that the Mild Mannered Clark Kent disguise works so well because No one would ever really believe An alien from another planet who is a God would live among us subjecting himself to the daily trails of human life while battling the force of evil 24/7 in cape & tights .

1. You know your comics haha 2. I agree with you and I now think that's basically just the best way to see it on Smallville

As I posted earlier, a combination of Kryptonian technology and Clark using mental powers would work better since everybody on Smallville has seen Clark without the glasses:

Adventures of Superman #330

1. lol, I'm a die hard comic book fanboy of The Man Steel, The Dark Knight & The Web-Slinger.

2. Thanks,

The only reason I wouldn't like that is because everyone's also already seen the "unfrail terribly handsome" version of Clark so all the sudden he would look dorky? Doesn't work..so get the glasses to do what they did in the comics, have Lois find his secret out, and everyone else just wouldn't think he'd ever be Superman or likewise

That'd be fine if after getting the glasses he introduced himself as clark kent to the world. It's too late for that. If he starts wearing magic glasses, Clark would no longer look like Clark, but Superman would.

At this point on the show, it would make more sense for the costume to alter his apearance or prevent people from making the connection. Maybe Jor-El could create the suit for Clark, and despite the fact that he might think it looks corny or ridiculous there would be a valid reason to wear it.

this will be very interesting to see if souders/peterson will try and give us some logical for smallville's universe for the glasses.

The Dean Cain one is SO bad. LOL. It's like they didnt even try to make him look any different, and it didnt help that Deano played the two of them EXACTLY the same. God, I hated that show. :)

The suit altering his image to look what, older, uglier?

The Kryptonian glasses should do the trick along with some hypnotic effect, people would see him differently (despite looking the same), that's all he needs.
