Why, they didn't do that in the original film either?
I'm not sure what you're getting at. The original is technically outdated in every possible way. Any sort of remake should take advantage of the advances in modern cinema.

Medusa looks amazing.

Eh, it looks like -- *prepares for backlash* -- a cgi-render from a videogame to me.

Great, great trailer. I'm really looking forward to it now.

Every other monster in the thing is CG, so it's pretty much not gonna be consistently good.

I think audiences being a bit more fickle these days plays into that though to be fair. With state of the art computer games and obviously the immense advances in CGI big budget films like this have gotta show a lot of money shots and some of the best bits of the film to really impress people you know?
I think that people are starting to see through those kinds of trailers, though.

I just saw the trailer, and the vibe it gave me was, "Wow, a billion separate edits of what looks like 5 action set pieces and not a single lingering character moment. This movie's gonna suck." :funny:

Yes, but the eyes tend to be more critical of anything remotely resembling a human. Which is probably why out of all the "creatures" featured in the trailer, Medusa just stood out for me.

Yeah that medusa did look like something out of God of War III.

The Kraken immediatly reminded me of GoW II.
I think we'll get an idea of how a GoW movie could be, and I hope COTT opens the doors for that.

Ok, so, I watched the trailer in delicious HD.

The Kraken, amazing.

And here I thought Legion looked like twenty tons of crazy. Whatever level of crazy Legion has, I'd say double it for this.

Okay, I just watched the new trailer.

F**k me, that was awesome. I'm sold.

Umm, Medusa's eyes aren't supposed to be too humanly.

Honestly folks, are we going to play this game? You do not have to be human to look like a humanoid or have human features. Are we going to deny that Medusa does not resemble a woman, albeit deformed?

in the screencap the body looks OK.but i must admit that the designe of the head (shape of the head) looks very simplistic. i will have to whait until a close up to say if they did a bad job or not.

i think this movie doesnt have a budget like POTC 2 or other blockbusters. expensive yes but still not so huge to have photorealistic effects. IMO.

A Super model was used as a model for Medusa's Face. Can't remember what her name is at the moment.

Yes, I know. I'm simply stating that the 100% cgi route they took seemed ineffective. When it comes to anything resembling a human, the eye can immediately distinguish it's authenticity as an effect.

It's alright for the monsters, but as I said before our eyes are less forgiving for humanoids.

Wow...the Movie looks great so far.
The Kraken looks like the Daddy of the one from the Pirates Movies.

Yea but people like us see through stuff like that.

But do you think moms and dads and the kids give a crap about "character moments"? Course not, well, not as much as some sick as action scenes and amazing CGI monsters.

What I'm saying is there will be some character moments in the film. There has to be in a film like this. But these days all the GA wants is big action scenes and amazing SFX. The likes of Transformers being super successful proves this. So in trailers for big budget movies like this they will always focus on the "money shots".

And anyway there was some character moments in the trailer. Like the women goddess (I presume) pleading to the other gods (I presume). Zeus scenes, Hades brooding on what looked like his throne. etc

Awesome. The original is my all time favorite movie. This one looks to surpass it. Looks awesome. I hope the acting and story are on par...

anyone know the name of the song in the trailer?

"The Bird and the Worm" by The Used. Cool song, although I think it sounds better in the trailer with the vocals removed. I'd love to get my hands on a full length, all-instrumental version of it.
