yea definitely, if only they replaced Jake as the prince i would of been more optimistic
Yeah. I'm not looking forward to that film, at all. The whole cast looks to consist of a bunch of supermodels. Not to mention, I'm sick of these kind of characters in Blockbuster movies. Give us something new.

Anyhow, I like to compare the two of these movies together because we haven't seen an action movie like this in quite sometime ('Clash of the Titans'). But, with 'Prince of Persia', I feel as if I already own the movie... and I've only seen the trailer for it!

As you can tell, I hate movies that leech off of other movies successes. So it's nice to see that next year we'll be having 'Clash of the Titans' vs. 'Prince of Persia' in 2010.

I don't understand the some of the dislikes to Prince of Persia. If it's because Jake is not Iranian, well...but if it's him as an actor, the dude has proved himself again and again that he's a good if not great actor.

I ain't bothered about Jake.

I just think it looks like the Transformers of sword and sandal movies. Whilst this looks like the real deal.

i dont know ever since i saw Jake as the prince i thought WTF?
i know they could of got some great unknown actor to play the part.

I don't hate Jake. I just hate the producers who keep spittin' this crap out.

but besides that, I think 'Persia' looks entertaining and looks better than any of the big blockbusters of 2009 (Transformers 2, Wolverine)

Visually it does, but that's because it is set in such a rich and visually interesting place.

But I'm betting it will be as shallow and dumb as Transformers.

You're always gonna have movies like these, you know. BUt I'll told you like what I've told Kane, the movies of Summer 2009 made me sad for modern pop culture with the awful movies that came out. Of course you got the smaller ones that were the real winners (Moon, 500 Days of Summer) so it wasn't a total loss.

But nothing tells me that 'Prince' will be utterly brain-dead. So far.

We'll see but you can say the darn same thing about 'Clash'.

I'm trying to be the optimist here. haha

You can't really I don't think. Actors like Neeson and Fiennes wouldn't sign onto a Transformers esque piece of crap. Plus this is a movie about one of the greatest mythical stories ever. PoP is a video game movie at the end of the day.

This trailer looks awesome! i'm really, really excited about this movie, it just feels epic :woot:

prince of persia looks very 'meh' to me. looks like I've seen it all before with the mummy.

jake looks great as the prince i dont understand this logic at all

one film is a action adventure with some funny moments like POTC while COTT is more dark/serious/gritty

Wow. I just love those petty excuses. "Oh, Hollywood's always gonna be making these movies." So? What the hell does that have to do with being faithful to the material? If they want to make up some new characters and storylines for a lame-brain 'Raiders' remake, I wouldn't mind. But instead, they're taking a game that millions have grown up with and turned it into something that generic and uninspired. It feels like the screenwriters for the film just cherry-picked a bunch of stories out of the present 'PoP' games and threw 'em into the movie.

Why couldn't they have just played the games and translate them on over to the big-screen with some class. This is an adaption, afterall. I don't mind if it's somewhat different, if it's got a new character or further develops one so the audience could relate more to him or her. But, of course not. They're just gonna have the characters shoot-out mediocre dialogue back-and-forth at each other. If the actors maybe had a little more charisma (like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Mel Gibson or Jackie Chan), I could buy into it. But, no. Let's just hire these guys because they're the prettiest of the bunch and we can do them up to make them look even more attractive than they are. Then people will love them!

Give me a break. I've just had it up to the sky with these kind of movies that rely so greatly on charismatic characters, and yet they don't even hire charismatic actors to portray them.

i just fond out that the VFX teams behind Dark Knight (Framestore, Cinesite) are doing the CGI here, with Nick Davis (also from Dark Knight)

So you think Jake is just a pretty face? Wha...? I'm not looking forward to that film at all but he is a great actor, and he looks weird, his eyes are too close together so he isn't a pretty face. :D

At the end of the day how many video game movies have been any good? Err...none. So sticking as close to the source material isn't really important in making a decent video game adaptation.
