because of this movie, "hideous chud" and "porch monkey" have irreversibly been imprinted in my vernacular.

i enjoyed the film, but i didn't laugh once.

Are you dead inside? The whole audince I was with laughed histarickl through alomst the whole thing.

The movie was hilarious. Really, really funny. Loved the 'you hit the jackpot tiger' line, but don't know if anyone outside of comic book fandom would catch that. I also really like how Kevin Smith stayed true to where he is heading into film- part of the film being about accepting fatherhood. So, that's good to see. Overall a really, really great film that I can't wait to see again in theaters.

I got it  I saw it twice already and may possibly be seeing it again tonight.

Especially since the Spider-Man movies will never put it in.
= Sam Raimi's Spider-Man

"Porch monkey" is an offensive and vulgar term. Anyone who advocates it should be booted off these boards and anyone who uses them deserves to be hated.

since fanboy amateurs missed me point, cliff notes version

clerks 1 very cool 1st film for an amateur filmmaker
but you grow, release better stuff

mallrats awesome, chasing amy much better, dogma fun poke at religion

then he goofs off with jay & silent bob strikes back
then he makes serioius but decent movie with jersey girl

clerrks 2 just feels like flakeout to me, i cant believe its exact same thing as his very first film, thought it would have at least evolved to somthing closer to j&sbsb which is str8 up airplane, naked gun humor, it's sad that he is still making "deep philsophy" movie about quickie mart dudes, even though theyare flipping burgers instead of selling cigarettes, EVOLVE Kevin Smith!! give us something new and original, not same losers over 40 that made your first ever premiere film :(

You guys do realize this guy is joking, right?

Oh...and the montages DID suck! That little girl...cheap shot. Something RIGHT out of Jersey Girl. And some lady in the second showing I went to boo'd the end because of how cheesy it was.

That lady sounds like a *****, who probably didn't see the first one. If you don't see the first one, you won't get how special the ending of the second one is.

yea, i picked up the screenplay at the secret stash the other day and i loved how smith described it there:

"As we slowly pull back, Dante and Randal's smiles slowly drop as they realized what they've done, and the color in the shot drains to BLACK & WHITE. Somehow, amazingly, these guys are right back where they started."

i think that if you just discovered the genius of Clerks like, just last week, the effect of that last scene is wasted. IMO, the longer you've been a fan of clerks, the more you see the humor in that these guys are now in their 30's and still doing **** jobs and the how funny the ending is.

I agree. It's brilliant. That's why I think alot of people didn't get Clerks II

I thought that
whole ending was that they were back where they started but this time, they owned the place. Therefore, they are having lives as owners and are making money for once. I think that if it was a "crap, we ARE back where we started" ending...they should have had it all cheesy with that stupid Alanis Morrisette song and then silence, so Randall can say "Oh, ****." Because the humor was unclear and the ending was obviously good but TOO happy, if Smith was going for something else.

And another thing about Clerks 2, Rosario Dawson is 10x the actor of EVERYONE in that movie! It's sad how much she outacts the dude who plays Dante. Randal barely manages to hang, only because he has a funny character, but Dante looks out of his league. Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith are better actors than the dude who plays Dante.

well obviously you thought wrong. even moreso apparent with smith's own words. the humor is that
they spent their whole lives trying to get out of that place and move on to better things, they both got out, and Dante was about to move onto something bigger (better is inappropriate as Randal so clearly made evident). The humor is just in that line "this is the first day of the rest of our lives" they, at least Dante did, tried to get out of that place and all the **** that goes on during the daily routine at the Quick Stop/RST like the customers. They spent their lives there and wanted to get out, and that last line is just a realization that they will never get away from the Quick Stop

did yall see the scenes with the lightbulb and the milkmaids... Homage to the first film...

anyone, think they might (or would want them to) try to do the cartoon again based on clerks II of them working at Moobys. anyone think it would wokr this time around if they made it.

i just want them to pick up the cartoon where they left off. it was brilliant

I totally disagree about Jeff Anderson's Randal. I thought he did an amazing job. His emotional scenes were perfectly played. And his comedic moments were absolutely perfect.

I have to say that the use of the stereotype p**** monkey in Clerks 2 might cause problems...it was funny in the movie...but its not okay to repeat...If we're discussing it here on the boards thats fine I guess...friggin' Imdb is up in flames on the topic...and on Kevins myspace page...some dumbass did what Randall did on the back of his work shirt and posted the comment...like it was cool...sticks and stones my friends...but names sometimes hurt too...People started repeating Dave Chappelles skits so much that the use of the dreaded "N" word almost seemed okay in the pure context and quoting of his show. But not everyone has seen his show...and not a lot of people are gonna be able to chime in with you about Clerks2...this is one of the reasons Dave left the show...his hate mail convinced him that his skits were unproductive...It had such a complete reversed effect for him and with the black community...granted his comedy sketches never aimed at just one ethnic group...but he got a lot of sh't for it...because people thought it was okay since he was making a joke out of it.
I don't mean to bring the mood of the thread down...I just wanted to talk about it...
btw...did anyone see in the credits..."Jay and Silent bob will be back...we're just taking a break for now"...or something like that? My friend went and saw it today...I couldn't stay for the credits because my gf was gonna be late for work.

i do think that the user porchmonkey should be banned
