Clint Eastwood Directing J. Edgar Hoover Biopic

Really looking forward to this. I love that they are going to use make-up for the aged characters, instead of casting older actors for those scenes. Can't wait to see what an old DiCaprio looks like... :p

Yeah.

I'm not getting a DiCaprio vibe at all.

He does resemble an actor I know, but I can't place the face to the name.
I can see DiCaprio being made to look similar to that.

Same here. I read Hoover's stuff on wikipedia, and this film could be really great. Eastwood needs to make something better than what he has been making lately, other than Gran Torino, which I liked. But Leo automatically elevates this to a new level.

First Hughes and now Hoover? Let's see how far the guy can make us believe they're two different people from the same actor.

Leo just make a holocoust movie and you will get the oscar. then you can stop with the oscar bait movies and directors who Oscars love.

i am happy that he was in Inception. but that was a paycheck movie.

How is this an Oscar bait movie? Not all biopics scream Oscar.

Dude makes solid movies with solid people. While it can be argued to be oscar bait, or playing it safe, I still very much enjoy the movies hes made. Also how much was he payed for inception? As compared to what? In what way was inception a "paycheck" movie. There was no gurantee that Inception was going to make bank at all.

You're a paycheck movie. :o

Leo does movies that interest him. He's very choosey about what he does. He's one of those actors where you know it's the actor, and yet he inhabits the character he plays... if that makes any sense.

Teddy, Hughes, Billy, Archer, you all see him, but he is that character.

**** waiting for this movie, the Academy should just give him an Oscar.

Too bad he's going up against Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln.

He got paid quite a bit up front, but then also received a portion of the box office. Overall he made $59 million from it. That's the biggest paycheck of his career.

At least, I think so.

This is coming out in 2012, right?

The Cobb role was tailor made for Leo I think. Those little nuances, the whole tortured soul thing, Nolan wrote that specifically with him in mind.

If a famous actor cannot overcome their public familiarity with their acting skills, then they are not a good actor. All the great famous actors have been doing this since film began. Leo De Cap is probably the 107,000,023 rd actor to do this in the history of film.

edit:

I know you think you are saying something slightly different, but I don't think you are.

I have done it myself with De Caprio. He is so famous that we can't help but have our minds locked into the fact of who he really is, and a great actor will take us out of that frame of mind, but still, there are some that are *so* famous, we can't but help to slip back into studying the mechanics with nearly every movie of theirs we see. I think it's a process we go through with some very famous actors to try and lose that sense of overfamiliarity and get into the character.

And yet inception could have easily bombed.
if Inception bombed he would still get a huge paycheck even for hollywood standards.

to Leo Inception was a paycheck movie. and there is nothing wrong with that.

Leo is my favorite actor in the biz. He has improved so much in 10 years. Now, any film with him in it is instantly watchable. Great f***ing actor.

Leo is your favorite actor in the biz ?

i know that its cliche to mention Bale. but come on. Bale is 20 years ahead of Leo in acting.

Ehheh, Leo does tend to rely alot on that crease between his eyebrows when acting. If that makes any sense. Propably not. But it's funny.

I love Bale and all, but I prefer Leo.
