Clive Owen as James Bond?

Yes, DAF sucked hard. It's the worst Bond movie ever. And if you're mad because of the OHMSS bomb, prepare yourself for the CR bomb !

It's not going to bomb... The general public will see it, The true Bond fans will see it, and the Bond fanboys who say they won't, eventually will because it's a Bond movie and they need more ammo to ***** about..

It's going to do fine

Anybody would seem like a good Bond when they've got the theme music playing behind them.

NOT CRAIG.

If you are only going to post Craig bashing ''comments'' on this board, then it's better if you don't post here at all. Don't you think?

Yeah, give it a rest, Two-Face. Typing in caps isn't going to make me agree with you.

No, it's not bashing, I just think he's not right for the role and for the comment "anybody will look good with Bond theme in the background" I just said "not craig"

I think Craig is great actor but I like I said above he's not right as James Bond.Just cos anybody does not post good things about Craig you're labelled as "bashing" or troll. :( :down

In all honesty I don't think in terms of image he looks that different to Craig, I mean he has the same thuggish look of Craig IMO andin that trailer he just sounded like he was doing a poor mans Grant Mitchell impression. Can't really see how people who would've liked Owen can be so against Daniel Craig other than his blonde hair

I wouldn't have wanted to see Owen as Bond. The reason for that is that in the interviews I've seen of him he has said that he likes to do different kinds of projects and wouldn't want to get tied down to a franchise like Bond. I respect the man. If anyone can show me Owen saying something that clearly contradicts what I've said here, please do so.

Yeah, Clive Owen seems born for it, IMO. In addition to his looks, he has a formidable screen presence.

Dig Craig though, I think he'll do a fine job.

   he would be better than Craig but Clive said he wants to do dark roles

But I heard Owen said "James Bond character isn't challenge for me" along those lines and i agree that he would have been great as 007 but let's what Craig can do with the role.

Clive Owen would make a very good Bond, but it would be a tone that is somewhat of a cross between the camp Roger Moore stuff and the fake (except Goldeneye) Brosnan stuff. The tone for each Bond has been reflective of their time period- Connery in the 60's, Moore the 70's, Dalton the 80's, and then Brosnan. For a new Bond film, people are fed up with the cg-stuff and quips from Pierce- a dark tone would fit perfect, and I don't see Clive Owen pulling that off.

Has anyone seen Pink Panther? I caught it on a plane ride last week- Clive Owen is in a 5-10 minute snippet as agent 006... he saves a whole lot of people, gets the bad guys, does it in style, and isn't seen. Pretty funny... definitely something put in the film as a nod to the "Clive as Bond" crowd.

Yes, I saw the Pink Panther the other day (ghastly movie, just awful...) but it was great to see Owen in a a tux doing the agent 006 character. Probably as close to Bond as we Owen fans will ever see. It further affirmed my belief that Owen would have been perfect as 007. Still can't see Craig as Bond, sorry.

No. Owen may look more like the "ideal" Bond than Craig, but after reading the script I understand why he wasn't cast. If they had cast Owen it wouldn't have worked, at least not with this film or story. I just can't see Owen doing the things in the story without looking akward or out of place. Sorry.

It's kind of a shame for Owen- I think Craig is going to be great as Bond, but Clive Owen could've been a great Bond for other films too- particularly the last 2 Brosnan ones.

Keep in mind that Timothy Dalton was never supposed to be Bond- Brosnan was asked first but had to decline because of Remmington Steele (Goldeneye should have been his 3rd Bond film). If they took that route maybe Owen would have gotten TWINE and/or DAD. But then again, it is good to see a darker Bond with Dalton..

Anyone considered for Bond should be considered for Tony Stark. Clive Owen is my frist choice for ol' Shellhead.

Dalton had been approached since the late sixties to play the role.

ABSOLUTELY!

But, alas, the dream is just that, a dream. We are now stuck with Rubble,... Barney Rubble.

I just checked wikiPedia and your right- he was offerred Bond at the age of 22 in 1968 (possibly even 21 if he was asked before his birthday that year)-

21/22? that's pushing it...

The stuff I was looking at still mentioned the Brosnan/Remmington Steele thing making them give the role to Dalton for TLD and LTK- so if things worked out differently we still may have seen Clive Owen as Bond.

Instead of Craig, would you have liked Owen played 007 in Casino Royale?
i cant see it. even when hes cleaned up, he still has too much of a rough look to him to play someone as suave as bond.

but im still not 100% sold on Craig either cuz i think he has the same problem.
