Clones A'Poppin!

Rise of the Clones...

"Death is but a door"

"Keep Pushing!" Iron-Man yelled. "I think It's time for our friends to lend a hand!" he called.

suddenly the ground underneath the Secret avengers gave way. "I do believe my ears are burning," Scott lang said as Avengers rained down upon him and his daughter, both of them at least fifty feet tall.

"Scott?" Cap called out in confusion.

Meanwhile across town in the underground bunker that housed the wounded and infirm from the Secret Avengers, Patriot and Hawkeye II were discussing their current sitiuation.

"This is crap!" she griped. "We should be out there in the thick of it. They took Billy, and we got left behind?"

"You know, I'd expect Speed to complain more than you," Patriot said blankly as he ran security checks.

"He just wants to stuff his face," she growled. "I say we should have gone. Teddy's there."

"Teddy," Eli said calmly. "Was key to the plot, not us. Plus someone had to keep an eye on the base."

"You just kiss the ass of anyone with Super Soldier Serum in your blood don't you?" she asked.

"Sounds like it," said a voice. Both whipped around to see two people who...

"You're both dead," Kate said blankly.

"Got over it," Mockingbird replied as she launched at Patriot.

Kate took aim at Hawkeye, but he was already on his way at her. he tackled her, but he didn't realize how big a mistake that was.

"NO ONE TOUCHES ME!" She yelled at him, in three moves she had him reeling.

Mockingbird had enough momentum to move the unexperienced supersoldier, knocking him off balance.

and in the skies over manhatten.

"Whatever happened to responsiblity?" called a disturbingly familiar voice. Peter turned in midair to see that they voice want who it couldn't possibly be.

Be-" he was unable to complete his sentance as he was slammed into feet first by a man in a blue and red version of his recently discarded Stark-designed costume.

"I'm sorry Pete," Ben Reilly said sadly. hitting him with one of the waldoes. then a punch before resuming his webline.

"Ben, how... what... Where..." Peter rambled.

"I'm sorry, Pete," Ben said sincerely, "But you can't be allowed to be a loose cannon anymore... God I wish this had happened months earlier... or later... I'm so sorry. I know all your moves, please don't make me hurt you."

"I've evolved since you've been gone," Peter said resolutely.

"It has begun," said a blonde doctor as he looked out the window from the infirmary on the Prison 42. Dr. Blake shook his head. "This will be most unpleasant"

Rise of the Clones

"Gilded Cages"

Four days before the final battle of the Civl War

"Can you believe this place?" Clint Barton reveled as he flopped back into a recliner in Stark Tower's penthouse. "This is more plush than the Mansion was."

"What happened," Mockingbird asked again, skeptically, of Tony.

"He's told you three times," Clint chided.

"It would be good to hear," said Ben Reilly, a shadowed look in his eyes.

"Well, For Clint and Scott, we can only assume that Wanda's manipulations somehow rewrote you back to life," Tony replied. "Bobby, you, Mr. Reilly and Dr. Blake, we BELIEVE, were revived when Mjiolnir ripped through the omniverse in it's return here. We believe you were caught in the wake and pulled back to our plane of existance." He turned to the red-headed member of the small group. "Ms. Grey, we believe it was your own, innate Phoenix nature that brought you back to life. Mar-Vell, you travelled through a rift in time."

Tony adressed the group as a whole now. "Some of you were my friends before your demises, others I didn't get a chance to know, but you are all back now. And you all have a chance to help end a situation that is bad for everyone. we face our own friends out there... I don't want anyone to get hurt."

hours later

"Dr. Blake," Mar-Vell called to the doctor, recently returned from oblivion. "I have heard you will be joining me on 42."

"Yes, I don't imagine trying to set up a practice would be easy, what with having been nothing more than the alter-ego of a god and being non-existant for almost a decade." Blake grinned as he leaned on his ornately carved walking stick.

"I was wonder," Mar-Vell said, in a quiet whisper. "I wish to begin oncological care, but I do not think Tony or the others would approve. It would disturb the time stream, they believe. I wish for a fighting chance."

"You want me to be your doctor?" Blake asked, surprised. "I was a surgeon back when I was practicing but... I suppose I'm qualified to take care of you. I'll bring some oncology texts with me when we go... I would be honor, Captain Vell."

"thank you," Mar said with a warm smile.

on the roof of the building, Jean Grey had come upon someone who was not so optimistic for the future.

"Ben Reilly right?" she asked of the blone man.

"yeah," Ben turned to greet her with a half-smile. he'd been looking out over the city thinking. "I bet you didn't even need to read my mind to find that out."

"No, I didn't," she grinned at his joke. Few people, including the Avengers, were comfortable around her. "I also didn't needed it to know that you're preoccupied with something."

"I have doubts... that evaporate like alcohol," he replied. "Me and Peter... we're worriers," he explained. "For us, life going good is just a set up for a big ol' fall. also... there have always been precious few things he and I were ever sure of. MJ loved him, Uncle Ben's death was partial our fault, there will always be hardships."

"Trying to mend your ways?" she asked lightly.

"No," he replied. "trying to go back to them. I'm so certain that registration is a good thing, that there is no other way to go... I'm positive about it. And whenever I doubt it..."

"Evaporation," Jean filled in.

"yeah," he nodded.

"Maybe we can figure that out... together," she suggested.

"A spider and a phoenix?" Ben asked with a smile. "My god, we could rule the world."

In the lobby

"DADDY!" Screamed Cassie Lang as she rushed into her father's arms, hugging him tightly.

"My baby girl," he sniffled. "God, I was afraid I'd never see you again. And now..." He held her at arms length to look at her costume.

"I'm..." she began. "I'm Stature..." she bit her lip. "Do you mind Daddy?"

"Honey, I couldn't be more proud," he said, hugging her again.

"That's what it's all about," Clint said, from across the lobby. "Families getting back together." he gave Bobbi a signifigant look.

"Clint," she chuckled. "you can't be serious. I was dead for years before you were. Are you trying to tell me that you never moved on?"

"er... well," the bowman stammered.

"Sorry, Clint," she sighed. "We said till death do us part... that came and went." She walked back to the elevators.

Well, I saw from the original list that four major ones were missing, The Captain America/Red Skull clone was explained...as was the new legs Xavier clone....Joseph too was explained....the Maurauders however were only mentioned.

All of the Maurauders, including Sabertooth, were killed a bunch and each time cloned by Sinister....so yeah....more clones.

"This... this can not be true," Mar-Vell said, facing the window to the Negative Zone.

"I don't want to believe it either," Jean said from her spot on the couch. "The very idea makes me want to vomit, but... With the evidence."

"What evidence?" Scott asked weakly, knowing exactly what she was talking about.

"The fact that they were talking about a program EXACTLY like this not two months before we started just showing up, somehow ressurected," Jean said. "Not to mention Kaine's testimoney on Ben."

The other blonde in the room sat on the wall remaining silent.

"Kaine's a sociopath though," argued Clint, who truely believed.

"he's crazy alright," Ben said, the first to speak since these Heroes had gathered together. "But he'd never do anything to harm me. Even if you want to diagnose him with a sociopathic disorder, part of that disorder is that MY life, not his, is to be perfect. He would never make something up to hurt me."

"I have memories though!" Clint shouted into Ben's face. "Wanda revived us by accident," he gestured between himself and Ben Reilly.

Ben shook his head. "Wanda didn't even know me. She wouldn't revive me. and what about Mar's cancer."

They all turned to Mar-Vell. he had entrusted his oncological care to Dr. Blake and Dr. Grey-Summers, much to the shock of Tony and Reed. that was when they found the first thing that made them doubt it. Mar-Vell remembered the event that gave him his cancer... however he had no trace of it, no genetic markers for it, nothing that even hinted he might have cancer or might develope it.

"Listen," Ben said, finally stepping from the wall. "I know this is a heavy blow to take, trust me, I've been there before. We aren't who we are."

"W-we're clones," Scott agreed, almost in tears. the few days he'd spent with his daughter... and now he found that he wasn't even her father. all the pain of waking up in this cold world, but now the few comforts he'd found were stripped from him.

Jean put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"We are people," Ben said. "We have recognized our origins," he said, looking each of them in the eye. Mar-Vell stepped up instantly to accept these terms. Jean nodded, Scott had a myraid of emotions running across his face, but he was keeping up. Ben focused his eyes on Hawkeye.

Hawkeye refused to meet the Scarlet Spider's gaze, until Mockingbird struck the back of his head. "Grow up Clint," she growled at her former lover... or who she thought was her former lover. Hawkeye nodded to Reilly.

"Now, we have to choose where we go from here. I can't help but ask... if they'd do this. create clones and lie to them, make mockeries of who those beings believe themselves to be... well that's not a group I'm interested in being a part of."

the group was nodding.

"So who's joining where?" Ben asked.

"I still feel dedicated to the cause," Mar-Vell said. "Registration is for the greater good of your people. I cannot adie you. But I feel no need to report you."

"Mar..." Jean said. "I have discovered psychic blocks in myself and Mr. Reilly. Blocks designed to keep us loyal to the program. I removed them and I rethought my position and realized where I truly wanted to be: AGAINST mutant, and super-human, registration. There are possibly blocks in you."

"I appreciate the offer, Phoenix," Mar-Vell replied. "But I must face this as I stand. I have chosen my allies, and I truly do believe that registering is the right thing to do."

Ben, Jean and Bobbi moved for the door. they looked to Clint and Scott.

"E-Even if you remove the blocks," Scott said to Jean. "I-I can't let Cassie do this on her own. She's with SHEILD now... I have to stand beside my daughter."

Jean nodded, and refrained from removing his blocks, sensing how comforting they were to him.

"Hawkeye?" Ben asked.

Clint looked down at his hands, he thought for a long time. "On the one hand," he mused. "I do love to break rules and raise a fuss..." then he looked up. "But on the other, if Wanda Maximoff had been registered and monitored and trained, two of us in this room wouldn't have to have been cloned. I'm sorry, and tell Cap that. But I stand with Tony on this one."

When Xavier and the X-Men realized that the Brood Queen was going to take over Xavier's body they contacted the Starjammers. The Starjammers then cloned a body that was undamaged and transferred Xaviers mind into it.

captain britain had duplicates in the corps.

such as the current arc with albion.

and the evil kapitan briton..the nazi version of brian who attempted to rape betsy his sister (psylocke)

again not clones but the dark xmen in excalibur at the moment are duplicates too.

"Rise of the Clones"

"The Pursuit of Happiness"

"Thank you all for coming today," Mar-Vell said to those gathered in front of him.

Teddy Altman looked at Billy Kaplan. Teddy was shaking in fear and nervousness. "Relax," Billy whispered. "Or I'll make you." it was a playful threat that made Teddy smile. Teddy let go of Billy's hand and stepped forward.

"Are you sure you are ready for this?" Heather Douglas asked Phyla-Vell telepathically.

"I must face my past," responded Phyla. "But it feels good to know my future is at myside." they shared a smile. no one had heard a word exchanged. Phyla stood and walked toward the man in red and blue. "Mar-Vell?" she asked.

"Y-yes," he responded. "You are Phyla?" she nodded. he turned to the blonde boy across from him. "And you are Dorrek?" he asked.

"I-I prefer Teddy," He responded.

Mar-Vell smiled. "Teddy," he granted. "My-my children."

"This isn't awkward at all," Billy thought, standing in the back of the room.

"You should try listening in on Mar-Vell's thoughts on the situation," Heather Douglas sent to the young man.

Billy startled, but didn't draw attention to himself. "I'm a telepath," Heather informed him. "Hope I didn't intrude."

"No... not at all," Billy thought, assuming Heather heard. "What's so awkward about Mr. Vell's thoughts?"

"He hasn't quite gotten why we stood so close to his children. He assumes we are sibling figures." Phyla had a ghost of a grin on her face.

"Um... do you know if he'll mind?" Billy wondered to her.

"It's more entertaining to find those such things out in due course."

"Aunt May," Peter said with a bright smile at his aged matriarch. "There's someone I want you to meet." Peter ran to the door and pushed it open.

a man that looked exactly like Peter except with blond hair walked in. he paused, his own eyes welling up with tears.

"Wh-" began May, but couldn't find words after that.

"This is Ben Reilley..." Peter said. "... My clone... brother."

"Sort of," Ben amended.

"You were a clone then, you're a clone now," Peter dismissed. "What's changed?"

"Hate to say it Benny, but Tiger's got a point," MJ said from the doorway.

"MJ!" Ben called. "So you guys have really made it."

"Not without our ups and downs," MJ replied, taking Peter's hand. "But they've been worth it to be here."

"You two look so different... and yet the same," Ben mused, giving MJ a warm hug. "How's my neice?"

that brought a ringing silence to the room.

"I-" MJ finally broke the silence. "I-I miscarried." she spoke distantly, as if trying not to associate it with herself. "We haven't gotten pregnant or really tried to since."

"God..." Ben said sadly. "I'm so sorry." He gave MJ another hug, then Peter.

"Ben Rieilly," Aunt May said. she stated his name, not calling him.

"It was an alias I'd use from time to time," Peter explained. "You're maiden name, and..."

"I like it," May finally said. "Ben would have been annoyed though. He was so traditional."

"I know," Ben and Peter said in unison.

May looked at the blond. "You have my Peter's memories?" she asked.

Ben nodded quietly.

May said not a word more as she took Ben into a motherly hug, and the clone returned, hugging what he'd always wanted; his mother, Peter's mother, Aunt May.

"What do you mean SOLE CUSTODY?!" Scott yelled at his wife across the table.

"Watch your tone," growled Blake Burdick, "You may be in with Stark, but you don't have the right to menace my wife."

"But she has the right to hold my daughter hostage?!" Scott snapped.

"Cassie is safer with us than with you!" Peggy replied.

"Perhaps I can help?" called a voice from the door. Cassie was leaning against the door frame as Jennifer "She-Hulk" Walters walked in.

"Jen!" Scott called with a bright smile.

He got up to give her a hug but she waved him off with a warm smile. "Hug me later, love me now," she said. she stood in front of Blake and Peggy Burdick. "You have no grounds to petition for Sole custody. Mr. Lang is gainfully employed, has a stable home, and above all, actually gets along with the child which, from the stories I've heard, is more than I can say for either of you."

"I won't have some... Green-skinned..." Blake growled. "Hulk come into my home and insult me like this. We've been wonderful parents, are you saying we're bad ones because we don't allow her into dangerous situations with people of questionable character?" as he said questionable, Blake looked directly at Scott.

"Mr. Burdick, first of all it is never a good idea to insult opposing council to their face. Secondly, if you continue this I will bury you under paperwork and evidence to the point where if Mr. Lang will recieve custody, and YOU will be the ones begging for visitation rights." she glared at him. she liked Cassie, and understood where the girl was coming from. "Do I make myself abundantly clear?"

"Clear as glass," Peggy said waspishly, as she put a restraining hand on Blake. "We maintain custody and Scott has unlimited visitation rights so long as he informs us ahead of time... not asks permission, informs us."

"Thank you Peggy," Scott said with a sigh of relief.

Jean approached the wreckage that was the gates of the Xavier Mansion with a great deal of hesitance. she used the phoenix force to reach out and sense what had happened here.

"Jeanie?" asked Ben. "You alright?"

She smiled at the clone who had quickly become a close friend. "Thank you for coming with me today Ben," she said. "I really appreciate it."

"Anything for you Jeanie," he smiled. "How could I say no to the girl who cleared my head?"

"J-Jean?!" Scott called as he walked from the front door.

"Not a-bloody-gain!" Emma growled as she walked out behind Scott. other X-men quickly followed, each embracing Jean as the lost friend she was.

As Cyclops leaned in to kiss her, Jean did one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do... she pushed him a way. "I think," she said gently, "There's someone else who those lips belong to now."

Scott stood, looked back at Emma, then at Jean. Scott looked down at the ground. Emma quirked an eye-brow.

"I'm not upset Scott," Jean said gently. "We said "'till death do us part'... that's come and gone dear."

"Well," Emma commented as Scott was jostled back towards her. "I must say Jeanie, you actually managed to surprise me."

"I still don't like you Emma darling," Jean said with just a hint of venom in her voice.

"Good," Emma said. "Hopefully you won't stick around too long."

"I won't," replied Jean. "I have an apartment in the city. I'm going to be using my time to campaign against O.N.E. and other blatantly anti-mutant programs... you know... the programs you supported." Every mutant around them lowered there heads. "I don't know what Wanda put you all through, but I am disgusted with what you allowed to happen. Sending off mutants just because they no longer have their powers? Did you believe the world had forgotten they were once mutants? that they were safe now?" Jean shook her head. "I won't be staying in this place any longer... not now that it is an insult to what it once stood for. I just came home to see old friends and burn a few final bridges." on the word "Burn" she allowed a bit of her phoenix aura to show, causing everyone but Ben to take more than a step back. Ben smiled lop-sidedly. For some reason, he wasn't intimidated by the Phoenix side of Jean. for some reason... it intruiged him more than anything else.

"You're doing just fine," Dr. Blake said as he hobbled over to his desk to sit down.

"Thank you," Mar-Vell said as he redressed himself. He'd just completed his latest post-mission check up. He didn't trust S.H.I.E.L.D.'s doctors anymore. He only trusted Dr. Blake, but even Blake couldn't do everything on his own.

"Ah! Scott, please come in," Donald said to Scott lang who had just arrived with another batch of equipment. "Are those the improved vital sign monitors I requested?"

"You know it," Scott said brightly. "You just put it here," he said, demonstarting on himself. he placed it on his left breast, and a holographic display popped up showing his vital signs including temperature, resperations, blood pressure, pulse, and even weight.

"Brilliant, I can't wait to show it to... Ah, here they are," Donald gestured to the door.

There stood Stephen Strange and a woman in a Nurse's uniform.

"Linda Carter," she introduced herself to Donald Blake. "M.D. with a specialty in meta-physiology."

"Honor to finally meet the legendary, 'Night Nurse' I heard took such good care of Spider-man," Dr. Blake said.

"Honor to meet the legendar Doctor who turns into a God," Dr. Carter returned.

"Ah, I no longer possess the ability to become Thor," he clarified. "I am a clone of only Dr. Blake... they though I would be able to become Thor as well."

Both Dr. Blake and Dr. Carter turned on Stephen. "Are you sure we can't persuade you to join us Stephen?" asked Dr. Blake. "Imagine it, the greatest Meta-physicians in the country."

"It would be interesting... Holmes," Dr. Carter teased.

"Alas," Strange said with a distant smile. "I have far too many responsiblities as it is. Besides, I remember what it was like having to deal with insurance companies. That was truly frightening... and that is coming from a man who's actually been to hell."

They shared a warm chuckle.

I thought Sabretooth was supposed to be the only Marauder who was still in his original body.

He's running with them as of X-Men #200.

And if you wanna get technical, he was the original Marauder. :o

I know I am! :cmad: Way to drudge up really ****ing painful memories, man. Thanks. Thanks a lot. :(

I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by it. Honest. Here, have some Gummiberry Juice.

I am incorrect....apparently for some reason, Sabertooth Cannot be cloned.

Sabretooth was a member of the mutant team of mercenaries known as the Marauders, under the employment of Mister Sinister. While in that group, Sabretooth was allegedly fatally wounded a number of times, at the hands of Caliban of the Morlocks (Caliban broke Sabretooth's back and left him in the sewers, where he eventually healed and encountered Cable, Wolverine, and the robot Elsie Dee) and the mercenary Silver Sable, although he never seemed to die. Sinister himself said that he had created genetically identical clones of Marauders that had fallen in battle. It is possible that he improved upon the superhuman abilities of the Marauders or their clones, granting them powers they originally did not have, such as Sabretooth's regenerative healing powers. For some time, it was not known if the current Sabretooth was the original Sabretooth or his clone. Mister Sinister suggested in X-Men volume 2 #34 that Sabretooth's regenerative healing factor made it nearly impossible to clone him. He confirmed this claim in Gambit volume 3 #8, where he also stated that Sabretooth was the only Marauder who was not a clone.

It's probably some ******ed, really, really broad interpretation of the concept of a healing factor. Like how Wolverine's "healed" his mind by cutting out some of the harsher aspects of his past or whatever.

it would be quite nice if marvel made a clone superhero team. A very interesting way of putting some cool characters together without jepordazing other franchises.

with some of the characters on that list, it could be amazing.

Nate grey and ben reilly were already friends, imagine a team up with joseph and some other characters like that. They would kick serious ass.

Have we counted dark beast, dark beast made it over from aoa along with nate grey.
