Cloverfield Director To Remake Let The Right One In

So I got an invitation to go to a "Let Me In" celebration during comic-con. It starts at 10pm and it's a first come first serve basis. So I've never been to anything like this, how early do you think I should show up if I want to get in?

I've never been to SDCC but I have been to a number of other conventions including WonderCon in San Francisco a few years ago but SDCC dwards any of those in terms of attendance.

I suggest getting their super early, anywhere from 7-8 just to check out the line or ticket situation. If it doesn't look bad come back a little bit later...that is, if it's one of the screening rooms at the convention and not an actual theater you'll have to drive to.

Kinda a weird poster.

Is that suppose to be a face in the blood or whatever that is.

Looks like a good marketing campaign to those who don't need the original. And considering how strong the original is, they're going to need to get as many fresh viewers who will not be so cynical as we may upon viewing it.

Then again, I try to keep an open mind. Americans remake foreign films all the time and I can think of at least three that surpassed their foreign counterparts--Insomnia, The Ring and The Departed.

But I do not think this will be among them, though.

Considering that Let the Right One In only made a little over $2 million in the US, they're going to have to reach far beyond the original fanbase.

What the what? How the hell did I never notice Michael winks exactly the same? You're blowing my mind Frank.
It's a Bluth family wink! I think Lindsay does one at some point, too (though I've never seen a gif of hers). It must be genetic - just like their wildly inaccurate Chicken-dancing and ineptitude with hammers. :woot:

I was at the panel at Comic Con, and I have to say, it still have the minimal 'cinema verte' style of the original Swedish film. In other words, from the clips that I saw, nothing was dumbed down. In fact, it looked pretty good.

I love the original, and while I hate remakes, I'm slowly changing my mind on this version. The director seemed really legit so I'm all for that.

Octoberist, I heard that the Let Me In panel was a MASSIVE success.

there is a restricted version of the trailer on facebook http://www.facebook.com/letmein?v=app_140869782599523

Not too different, added some blood and a scene at the very end. Of course these trailers are designed to look exciting and get people who don't know about the Swedish film/novel into theaters, not as a "see guys, we didn't screw it up!" to the fans.

Also this poster is new to me

The title is still terrible. All of these ads would look better as "Let The Right One In". Let Me In sounds too demanding...

Isn't that what the original novel title translates to?

I watched the trailer yesterday and it was pretty awkward for me. The original is great. Going to be tough to match it or beat it.

The guys over at /Film said that the clips shown were actually really great.

Let Me In was the name on the original copies of the novel in the US. When they released the film they changed the name to Let The Right One In to match. I believe they orginially shorted the title because the US publisher deemed the title LTROI too long.

The original film was a masterpiece. As far as this one- I don't like the changes such as the title, I don't like the American setting, I don't the names, I don't like the exclusion of Eli's original sex, I don't like the PG-13 rating. From every single thing I can see it is a complete watered down version of the original film and Lindqvist's book. What makes it most strange is that Reeves said he wanted something that was very faithful to the books- which this film obviously will not be.

But through all of my cynicism, I will still give this one a chance. On the plus side, I do love the posters.
