Colin Farrell IS The Penguin

Or maybe he just remembered Colin Farell in The Lobster and realized Farell can play the same type of Penguin as Jonah Hill.

My first thought was this is Matt Reeve's reaction to Jonah Hill turning down the role. He maybe didn't want his looks to be cartoonishly exaggerated and be identified as looking like Penguin afterwards.

This is perhaps Matt Reeve's ridiculous 180 degree turn as a result.

I highly doubt Reeves is gonna overhaul the whole character concept just because someone turned it down.

There’s nothing Jonah Hill like in his performance in The Lobster except he has a little pot belly.

I mean Jonah Hill can be.....skinny too, with the right trainers he could look like Colin (body not the face lol)

I won't front I'd probably rather had Jonah just to see him play off Pattinson. With Farrel it just seems very... typical.

Serious Bob Hoskins vibe

Bit of Stanley Tucci in there.

I can't believe we're 12-13 years removed from Ledger's casting and people are still playing the "[ACTOR] is too good looking to play [CHARACTER]" game.

Y'all. Say it with me: Makeup. Prosthetics. Movie magic. ACTING.

I was thinking something like this. Maybe slimier. I think Penguin could be more of a gangster type. I always thought Ray Winstone would have been great with this type of Penguin.

Doesn't need it, what would you want a big cartoony nose?

Sure would. It justifies the nickname and it'd be far from the first time a Batman villain wears transformative make-up.

Do men even wear dress hats anymore?

I can easily see Colin as a younger incarnation of the Penguin from the Arkham games. Not only is this version similarly European, but he also lacks the trademark "beak nose" we generally associate with the character. As for the more obvious differences between the two, much of that can be attributed to age-related decline, not to mention poor lifestyle habits.

Love this grumpy and brutal Penguin.

The hair is going to bother me. I don't want him to be bald. The one thing that keeps popping into my head is a dark faux hawk with blond highlights to resemble a penguin.
