Plus, tuxedos are sometimes called "penguin suits".

I wonder how much the name Penguin actually bothers him, he seems to be a pretty popular member of the Falcone Crime Family enough to have his own club. I cant imagine many people have the gall to really call him that.

These people all sure scream "Real World 2021 Fashion Sense" to me.

It's heightened, it's gangster-movie-meets-comic-book. They're like some goofy 80s style catalogue line purchased by a bunch of off-brand John Gottis. A top hat & monocle isn't out of the realm of something like that, like at all, when we're going with something as stylized as this Gotham. We're like 2/3 of the way to Burton Gotham here, fare closer to that than Nolan's.

I'd bet my left nut we see it eventually. Not here, of course, but sequels.

I don't see anything goofy on their looks honestly. The most stylish one is Selina and she just looks stylish. Oz, Bruce and Falcone look fine.

Which is...the point. A monocle & hat can be not goofy too, if you do it in a way that makes sense for the guy. He's not going to be lazing around his swanky apartment looking like that, but out at night trying to woo society types and put on airs of being more cultured than he is, totally.

I dont think the monocle or top hat are needed on this specific Penguin, I just feel like it goes against what we've seen so far, he seems a lot more hands on and down to Earth than we usually see. I dont think he would care about trying to be fancy

every Halloween he has the best costumes, his beetlejuice and Nicholson joker in ‘18 and ‘19 was incredible.

his nutty professor last year really took it to another level, but he’s topped himself again.

I can see some HBO alumni’s coming through. Depending on when it’s set and who dies/survives in The Batman, maybe these Chernobyl guys who are already in the film could show up. Especially if some of em are in cahoots with Penguin or Falcone in The Batman. Turturro maybe a given?
