Movies based on things that originated as comic strips.

Buck Rogers (tv pilot movie)
Flash Gordon
Popeye
Blondie (yup)
Garfield
Marmaduke
The Phantom

What else?

Dennis The Menace?

Mandrake the Magician had a movie serial and there was a TV movie either 70's or 80's.

Dick Tracy
Little Orphan Annie
Modesty Blaise
Red Ryder
The Spirit

I grew up with cgi and computer effects but i loved what i saw from flash gordon

I can't believe I missed Dick Tracy....

Other than Flash which has a cult following, have you guys seen or liked any of these movies?

Yeah. I've seen Dick Tracy, The Phantom, Flash Gordan, Popeye, and Dennis the Menice. I own the first four, and haven't watched Dennis since I was kid.

Popeye is.......hard to even describe. I bizarre experience.

Garfield and Marmaduke I have no intrest in veiwing. The Phantom has good elements but is far too cosy and nice for an action movie.

Tamara Drewe comes out this year.

I know there was a Prince Valiant movie made during the 1950s. It wouldn't surprise me if they revisit that strip in the near future.

There was another in the 90s with Stephen Moyer, Katherine Heigl, Thomas Kretschmann, Udo Kier, Ron Perlman, Warvick Davis and Edward Fox.

If they make a Mary Worth or Apt 3G i will an hero.

Need to add BRENDA STARR.

Here's an obscure one: Jane and the Lost City.

This one might be weird to some but I would be down with a Beetle Bailey movie.

Yes! I loved this comic strip.

Who would you pick for Beetle, Sarge, and all the other infantry?

I wish I could tell you but i'm horrible with casting choices. It takes too long to come up with some good picks and I end up giving up.

Do you have any in mind?

Private Beetle Bailey — Matthew Lillard
Sergeant 1st Class Orville P. Snorkel — Who else, but Jack Black
Private "Killer" Diller — Matt Dillon
Otto — CGI
Brigadier General Amos T. Halftrack — Robert Loggia
Miss (Sheila) Buxley — Jennifer Love Hewitt

I don't know, get someone younger for Beetle and someone older for Sarge.

I wish someone would give the Phantom a decent treatment. The 90's version with Billy Zane was okay. (At least it had Catherine Zeta Jones pre-Michael Douglas.) But that 4 hour movie on Syfy was dreck. I mean, it was dreck with potential but it was still......well, dreck.

How about Zits?

Oh, oh, I've got it! Calvin(with all his alter-egos) and Hobbes!

I like most of those except for Matthew Lillard. I don't hate the guy but just can't see him as Bailey for some reason.

A FoxTrot movie could be entertaining if they could find some good child actors.
