I love that the show returned to its more usual style, even if just for one episode. If there's one big complaint I have about season 2 apart from the absence of Senor Chang, its that it has become far too much of a "genre parody of the week" format. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Conspiracy, Moon Landing, and Children's Land parodies, but it feels far too much like the show is trying to replicate the success of Modern Warfare, when one of the reasons it was so successful was because they weren't trying to do a full episode parody every DAMN week. It just seems like the focus has shifted from Community College based humour with a considerable meta focus still on film and tv, to just a full meta focus, and so genuine character moments in the group that don't just conform to the parodies are few and far between.

That is not to say I still don't love the show, its pretty much my favourite TV series right now barring BTBATB. I just prefer the more character based episodes that still contain minor parodies like the bottle episode, the recent bar one and the pottery class ep, with the occasional Modern Warfare type episode, instead of having MW every week for different genres.

Does anyone feel like that Chang was better as a teacher than a student? He just seems like such a forced aspect trying to fit into the already mashed up study group that formed to make our cast.

I got Season 1 on DVD during Black Friday for $12 and have enjoyed going back through it.

Was I the only one who thought Troy and Annie were gonna do the nasty? :(

God that episode was terrible.

Had some amazingly funny parts, and the whole Abed Farscape thing was awesome.

But you know what wasn't?

Them reminding us every 3 ****ing seconds that DRINKING IS EVIL!!!! Holy **** I almost had to turn it off cause midway through the episode it seemed like every other line was something about how drinking is the devil and you shouldn't do it.

I really, really wish this show would get back to it's general community college jackassery with some slight meta content on films and tv in general as opposed to full on "lets make every episode just like the Modern Warfare one" in terms of mocking an entire genre.

this show is friggin brilliant, I watch at least 3 episodes every night before I pass out. I've been through all the episodes so far like 20 times and just the other day I noticed that Abed had a whole story going on in the background of "The Psychology of Letting Go". :awesome:

Yeah I liked Chang more as a teacher lmao the bits where he got up close with Annie are the best. still tho, the pop and lockathon was awesome. :word:

yeah he was definitely better as the teacher. there are plenty of colorful characters as students. We need more of the staff other than dean, and the occasional john oliver (i don't know what he is)

do you guys think they will sell those clay-mation as bobble heads. i would get troy and abed if they did

maaan I'd get them all, I'd even buy mini-busts.

Lol, they even captured the "Annie face" in claymation form.

Abed- The first season of "LOST"

Pierce- That represents the meaning of Christmas?

Abed- No, that represents a lack of payoff

ZING!

Thought it was a fantastic episode. No real LOL moments, but it was a lot like last week. A bit more subdued and with a lot of character.

Exceeded my expectations!

If the show has to be saved by going to clay-animation on another network I wouldn't mind, very well done episode.

13 episodes left in the season, what can they do to top the first half?
The Bottle Episode, The Zombie Episode, Abed's Uncontrolable Christmas, Professor Professorson and The Spaceflight Simulator episodes are my favourites of the first half.

Loved the episode. The clay-mation, the songs, the Lost metaphors, and that it had strong character moments. Did anyone else catch that at the end the live action verisons of the cast was in the reflection of the tv.

Yeah I caught that, was a good little touch.

The reflection of themselves on the tv was creepy. Liked the episode though.

Great episode, still just one of the best shows. I liked this touching episode, it just was wonderful.

I liked the reflection at the end, just showing how close they've become. What is the song playing at the end when they are watching Rudolph with Abed in his dorm?

Abed's mother sounded kind of cruel, though I'm not sure if it was meant to come off that way through her letter.

I felt it was cruel too. I also felt Duncan sounded cruel when he said, "Mommy's moved on"

it was a cool episode, but it wasn't very "community"-like. neither was the week before. i'm not sure i like this serious turn
