Superman Returns Comparisons of Hair, suits, etc....(merged)

the majority of artists who have drawn superman draw superman's hair with the part on his left .. his hair combed to the right. Yes there have been some but MOST artists have drawn his hair combed to the right and this is one of the characteristics of the superman image. I dont really read the comics but almost every artist Ive seen draw superman with his hair combed to the right. The only recent artist that's drawn his hair combed to the left has been jim lee.. as far as I'm aware of anyway. I think you will find that there's a very minute percentage of artists who draw his hair combed to the left. Singer said that his version of superman should seem like he came from the collective consciousness of all people. Well to many, the superman in their minds has his hair parted on the left side not right because that's how he's been drawn for like 90% of the time.

jim lee

These names were just gathered by going thru the "Post your favorite superman pics" in the comics forums. http://superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140353
Just going thru the first 10 pages and you can see that other than the jim lee stuff there's really no one who draws superman with hair like Routh's. And since it's people's favorite pics of superman you have to assume that these pictures are how they imagine superman to be, right dark b? If 1 out of 20 artists draws superman's hair parted on the left and combed to the right.. who would you think has it right? hmmm. Jim Lee's one of my biggest influences artistically but even I think that he should have drawn superman's hair opposite of what he did. So don't be assuming i hate jim lee's work. I have pretty much everybook he's ever done since 1990. I know someone will come in here and say " oh you just hate jim lee's work"

But anyway.... point is that like 95% of the time, superman's hair is drawn with the part on the left, hair combed to the right. Just go to that thread and see for yourself before calling people idiots.

i dont care how much draw him that way. it is in the comics so they did nothign wrong. but even if it was not in the comics it would still be a movie change

easy way out for you i guess. just chalk any change up to movie change then all's good. cant really argue with that kind of logic. I wonder what would have happened if they decided to use electro superman in the movie instead of regular superman. Would you have liked that? I mean he was in the comics for a while and so you wouldnt have mind right? Of course not. It's in the comics so they wouldnt have done anything wrong.

Anyway, I was just trying to show you that some fans have a point when noticing the hair style change because it's not really a widely used practice in superman's design. But I just find it funny how you dismiss people so quickly and then call people idiots and assume they have to be "smoking" something since their opinion differs from yours.

Wow, I got insulted by someone that immediately doesn't read... the comics.

Any who I did say it may seem like nit picking. It is it’s just that final little thing that will make me not go see this movie in the theater. And everything I’ve heard about X-Men will have me staying away from that one as well.

Has there been a pact in Hollywood to destroy all super hero movies?

Here’s hoping the rumors on Spider-man 3 aren’t true and they’ll get that one right!

what rumors? :)

As for the hair... it really isn't the first time that a Superman hasn't closely followed the comic book look. Dean Cain for instance just slicked his hair back.

Yeah, but the point is "not the first time" doesn't excuse it. People seem to accept that any change from the norm is okay as long ans it's not the first time it's been done... "it's been done before, in 3 issues in 1955, and never before or since, so I'm okay with it".

But something having been done before... doesn't actually change the fact that it's done the way it is the other 99.9% of time time because that way is way better. I'm not talking about the hair here, I'm talking about any possible change from what is the norm.

Yeah, dean Cain didn't have the right hair too, so what? It just means that Him AND Routh have had the wrong hair, it doesn't actually mean it's okay to be like that. Pretty much all live-action Supermen have had crappy hair anyway - would have been nice to see it done absolutely perfectly properly for once.

Don't bother with this technicality you have discovered. Technicalities are nothing next to the power of the story. :)

I'd have to say, Kate Bosworth is a lot hotter than Margot Kidder.
I'll agree she's cuter, but neither one was exactly "hot".

Oh yeah, and Routh actually does look a lot like Reeve. ;)
Routh looks nothing like Reeve.

Who the **** cares about how Routh part's his Hair. What impact will it have on the film? None so why are you people arguing something that meaningless.

Even the old movies didn't do it exactly the same every time.

Reeve's hairstyle helped him "set apart" both the Superman and Clark Kent characters.

Parted to the right.

Parted to the left.

I think the hairstyle projected the desired effect.

Hairstyles? Both are good, yet different. I think Reeve's is a bit more pronounced since it's combed on the opposite side.
