Sorry i was away, i hope they show him when he starts his journeying, and isnt as big as he will get, start in his early to mid twenties and as the movies go have him buffing and turning into the conan he will be, needs to make mistakes like the new bond did. but i really want a good movie, something that compete with movies like gladiator or troy, you know epic

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111one
I've been picked to be a concept artist for Conan!
Soooooo Happy!!!!!!!!!!

the poster looks the business. I hope we see him fighting a hoard of mutants or something. This is a franchise that could really cash in if they did it right.
It would be nice if it got the care that Lord of the Rings got, but took it in a R rated direction.

alright way to go break a leg [or in banes case a back]

Is 'Hitman' Director Xavier Gens Taking on 'Conan'?

Well, either John McTiernan took a pass on the offer or AICN had their collective legs pulled when news came that Die Hard helmer McTiernan was in talks to direct the Conan the Barbarian update for Millennium Films. Dark Horizons has now reported that French director Xavier Gens told film site Le Film Francais.com that he was in line to direct the fantasy update. After the drawn-out battle for the rights to re-make the 1982 film, it seems like the production is still having a little trouble finding a director or a star. Although AICN did name Gerard Butler as one of the contenders for the role (I guess he has plenty of experience in a loincloth already). Gens is probably best known as the director for the video game flick Hitman -- which might not be the best calling card if you take the cringe-worthy score of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes as any indication of the man's abilities.

Gens entrance into the Hollywood blockbuster scene probably didn't quite work out as he had hoped. First, there were rumors that there were arguments with the studio over Hitman's rating, and then finally there was talk that Gens had been pulled from the project altogether. There was some PR back-pedaling surrounding the problems with Hitman, but even if the rumors weren't completely true, it could not have helped his reputation. But since Gen's involvement in Conan is still a rumor at this point, fans probably shouldn't get too worried just yet. Let's just wait until we hear something a little more official. Conan the Barbarian is scheduled for release in 2009.

Oh nooo....:( I still wanted King Conan....I wish Arnold had made that instead of T3

No Xavier Gens! :csad:

(And no to Gerry too.)

why cant they just get an epic director, i dont know . someone like ridley scott?????

i want it to be somewhere between lord of the rings and 300, i want a truelly good conan movie, it has so much protential, how about suggesting afew director that we think might be good, maybe we might be lucky enough for someone to see it and consider it. i like ridley, or who directed troy?? that wasnt too bad.

front page shows that they have a director and producers, now we just need a writers resalution(sp?).

I hope Nu Image/Millennium Films knows that Conan needs to be R.

grats and all that jazz, but can you do a good job then and not tard this up like most people end up doing with films like this.

peace

They got the guys who adapted Cussler's Sahara! Oh they just screwed this project over!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

The story is... it’s not really a story.
It’s true that Lionsgate, NuImage, and Paradox Entertainment are meeting with directors and other potential department heads right now on their upcoming CONAN film. Whatever this is, it’s not a sequel or a remake. Josh Oppenheimer and Tom Donnelly are working on the script now, and I’m hoping that we’ll be able to put something together soon where we talk to them about Robert E. Howard, the stories that they’re using for inspiration for this new attempt to bring him to bigscreen life, and more.
In the meantime, it sounds to me like someone (coughrobcough) decided to do a little campaigning via a carefully timed “rumor,” a pretty standard tactic for Internet-savvy directors these days. If that’s what did indeed happen, then I hope you guys will be sure to let the companies involved know exactly what you think of the idea of this particular filmmaker working on this particular property.
Trust me... the right people are listening.
There are many filmmakers still meeting on this project right now, so don’t think this is a done deal or that they’re already committed here. Keep that in mind... this is just one name out of several.
Does it do anything at all for you?
BTW... our friends over at Bloody-Disgusting did good work with the initial story... I just think their leak had an agenda of his own...
Are you guys ready for this?! This afternoon we have confirmed 100% that Rob Zombie has been taking meetings with Lionsgate and Nu Image to get behind the director's chair for their upcoming Conan film!

I hope we can keep you posted on all things CONAN in the months to come as what I hope will be a major relaunch of the character gets underway.

This better be a joke, rob's name shouldn't even be in the same sentence with conan. How can someone even think of zombie directing a conan film. They have to think of a new name for such offense.
