And David, I didn't need proof, it's just that those guys on the Conan page are just looking for stuff to dump on, even if it doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Oh yeah, i know, I just thought it was funny, 'the guy had dreadlocks on Stargate, look! there's one starnd of hair that looks vaguely like a dreadlock! conan has dreadlocks!' and now the photo is properly out.

Exactly. Some posters here think we are "Fanboys", he should go over to Conan.com. Then again, he may like it over there, given that some of the people posting there see us as studio plants (that still cracks me up).

Revenge is very cliche. And Howard did theorize reasons as to why Conan wandered; tales of softer cities to the south from his childhood, his experiences with civilization from the sack of Venarium, and his joining of the Aesir to raid the Vanir which led him to being captured by the Hyperboreans and subsequent escape to the south. This inlet would have given him cause to go south and begin his wanderings and career as a thief.

Also, Cimmerians are supposedly tough to deal with and not easy to just wantonly slaughter, but it seems the movies want to make them easy fodder to die under the heels of whatever hard ass they feel the need to pull out as a future main antagonist. We'll have to wait for the details, but there is a better story that can be told that doesn't involve parents dying to get the hero off his ass and into the world. We've seen that before many times.

Exactly!

Yes, there is no doubt that the theme of "revenge" has become a cliche in films, but as you said, we'll have to wait for more details. Also, as we saw in "Solomon Kane", if done carefully and with a certain style, the revenge angle may not be that bad.

Clean visual of the Empire pic.

This guy should also play Kratos from God of War.:woot:

It was reworked from other pictures of Momoa, this picture is way to Frankensteined to be studio made. It is obviously based off the picture I pointed out, and the artist embellished here and there. Given it's not tagged from the studio as well points to it being fan art than anything official.

saaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy whaaaaaaaat?

saaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy whaaaaaaaat?

Personally i don't think it could have been re-worked from that other darkened photo, but it does not fit in with the other photos officially released by the studio. This one suggests a CGI '300' type environment, whereas the others all suggest a movie filmed in natural settings, so it well could be a photo that has been obtained by a fan and put through the computer with effects.
Sure, it could be a stylised studio poster/photo as well, treated that way to suggest a '300' type movie to the audience, but I don't know jack about photoshop etc , so who knows.

you're right... i meant to say 'but with airbrushed abs'

The main problem with Jake Gylenhaal in the Prince of Persia was that it's Jake Gylenhaal. He's too recognizable, and honestly looked weird being jacked up like that.

As far as the "airbrushed abs" thing, are you going to point out that the scars are not real as well? They have been doing this for years to highlight definition, why is it an issue with this film? You didn't have an issue with Michael Sheen in the Underworld films with his additional make-up to highlight definition.

Exactly. They did this with Gerard Butler and the other Spartans in "300", and also with Dolph Lundgren in "Masters Of The Universe".

Because people seem to have gotten a bee in their bonnet about this movie. Even stuff they routinely do on other films is a problem here it seems. "He didn't fight a real monster, screw this movie it's gonna suck!" LOL

It's funny people complained that he was not hairy or scarred, they release a photo showing that he is both and they complain that his abs are painted. Geesh can no one please anyone lol. He looks enough like Conan to please the masses, and some fans, like myself. I'm looking forward to this movie, I hope that it is good, Mamoa will not be the problem, that I believe. Costumes and equipment should not be all pretty like some want either, this is before medieval times and should look it.

I'm just so over the constant hollow critiques (The sword looks stupid, his hair isn't exactly right, the actor isn't Arnold size, the extras look like they are from Xena) and nonsensical attacks (He looks more like Tarzan than Arnold, How come they can't do a REH Story, Momoa is too ethnic). Blah! :whatever:

Angry little men with a bit too much time on their hands. Fans who don't understand that things change from medium to the next.

I can say that aside from misgivings about the script based upon what I've heard (which I have not read so I can't truly form an opinion of it). Besides, that thing was rewritten. I think it all seems pretty cool.

The sword is huge, yes. But did you see that sword the demon had in the first scene of Solomon Kane? That thing was friggin huge too. If anything the sword reminds me of the one from the Conan TV series, the episode with the fake Conan killing people. For better or worse that's what it looks like.

The studio has officially released the photo in question now it seems, nobody in their right mind would have thought it was reworked from that one photo in question in the first place. The poses in the photo's are different enough and shot from totally different angles not even close.

Funny how someone being so staunch and adamant in the past, even know it all'ish and confrontational has not stated what sauce or side dish he had with that crow or what wine it was washed down with.

What I said was that he would make a good Tarzan - he looks more like Tarzan than Conan. Now that you mention it, Arnold is the perfect Conan other than he is a couple inches too short. Perhaps that is why you slipped up there.

I agree. I think it will come down to problems with story and production than Momoa as Conan.

Wow info and stuff just stopped, no one hearing anything?

I'm surprised there was no ComicCon presentation. Hell, the Howard estate was supposed to have a presentation but they were not there either.

Yeah, whoever is in charge of doing promotion for this sucks, how in the hell did this not get a panel at Comic Con?

It's crazy, was at least expecting a poster lol, maybe a pic of the cast would have been nice. Shoot anything would have been good.
