This spoiler pretty much sums up why I hate the Internet, why I hate comic book fans, and why I hate everybody.

Everyone here is judging too soon.

You CANNOT judge a story before you read it based off of one spoiler. Uncle Ben supposedly being brought back. You're judging too quickly. I bet you guys a kazillion bucks that it won't be the REAL Uncle Ben. A kazillion bucks. The fact is that you can't judge until the full story has been published.

Then why do you bother to post here at all?
What the hell does that have to do with anything he just said, at all?

My... aren't we full of ourselves... You had to start your OWN thread to state this "great" profundity!?

You did know that others - some saying the same thing - have been posting to the hot thread created for this topic... try debating over there.

Thankfully, I still have no idea what this spoiler is. Obviously it's angering the already angry Spider-Man fans. What a shocker there, heh. :)

But you hate everybody, huh? You hate comic book fans?

Well, at least you hate yourself. No discrimination there. I can respect that. :o

Congratulations!!

You have just discovered the whole purpose of the internet.

It gives everyone a voice, now what they decide to do with that voice is up to them. Do I dislike some of the buffoons I see on the internet sometimes? Sure, but that's how the world works. Get used to it.

Yeah and this couldn't be posted in the current discussion about the FNSM 7 spoilers why???

True, but it doesn't change the fact that even the mere suggestion of Uncle Ben being brought back is the very height of cheap ******ed stunts and worthy of nothing but scorn.

Oh, get over yourself.

Frankly, I think the hate is justified as long as it can make people like this go critical mass :) But regardless, it was not that long ago we heard this EXACT SAME ARGUMENT USED.

"When was that?" you innocently inquire.

Remember when we saw the preview pages of MJ and Aunt May wearing the castoff Iron-Man armor? About 20 people posted, "Well, we can't be sure... let's wait till the book actually comes out. Sure that LOOKS like MJ and Aunt May in armor, but it might not be. It might actually be something cool! Let's wait and see."

What was it really? You guessed it: it was actually MJ and Aunt May in armor, helping Spidey on a mission, no less. [as if either one of them could actually keep up with him! But I digress].

Every single time we see this argument used, yes Virginia, it actually IS just as bad as it looks. If you disagree, post your proof of stuff that looked awful yet turned out AWESOME, and I will listen with interest... till then, have fun in the critical mass state of being. :) Adios.

Well, that WAS Reginald Hudlin writing that issue. And we saw that he's not really cut out to really write for Spider-Man, obviously. But this is Peter David and he's had a little more experience with Spidey than ol' Mr. Hudlin.

But still...you never know. Brubaker brought back Bucky. So, hell has frozen over before. :o

When Judd Winick resurrected Jason Todd (the second Robin) in the Batman books it seemed like an utterly intolerable idea (although, admittedly, it still is a horrible idea), but it actually made for both a rather good story, and a rather excellent villain.

One seemingly bad idea that did turn out awesome was Brubaker resurrecting Bucky in Captain America, which made, once again, for an excellent story. Daredevil holds two examples; firstly DD's identity becoming known, and secondly, killing off Foggy. Both ideas, to me at least, seemed horribly, but both made for effing fantastic stories.

Granted, this is a bit different. There's no way, IMO, you can actually bring Uncle Ben back from the dead, and make it a good thing. But, if it's some time traveling thing, or alternate dimension or whatever, it could be, at least, salvagable.

I'm not saying that's what will happen - it could, like you think, suck horribly - but to say there's absolutely no evidence that it could turn out for the better isn't true, I think.

Bit of a random off topic post there

All I've ever told people is that past performance DOESN'T guarantee a great future. Yeah, Peter David could write Spidey awesome way back when. But, that was then and this is now and he hasta earn th' praise all over again. His past should only gain him an interest in what he's gonna do, not flat-out "yeah, he's gonna be teh awesome!".

An example; Chris Claremont. I enjoyed his X-Men back in th' 80s, but fer my money th' only book he was writin' DECENT recently was th' last Excalibur. His X-Men stuff has been nonsense an' his New Excalibur ain't exactly thrillin' me.

Frank Miller; revitalized Daredevil and ushered in a darker age of Marvel comics. Th' vast majority of All-Star Batman readers hate th' book.

You can take it from there.

I havn't picked up any Spider-Man title in awhile but...
Aunt May and Mary-Jane in the "Spider-Armor"?
Uncle Ben coming back from the dead?

This is awful. Can Someone post a link to that other thread?

Aunt May and Mary Jane in Iron Man armor... not Spider-armor... though I don't see how that's any better

... hear that? That's the sound of 616 Spider-man dying. But seriously, what the hell man! I mean just... Who thought putting an 80 year old woman in a suit of high-tech armor would be a good idea!?!?! Christ! And bringing uncle ben back, shame on you. That's the worst Idea i've heard in my life.

Some peoples kids... god. Spider-mans been through some crap writers, and crap stories before, but this is ridiculous. The Spider-god crap was bad, but I figured "Hey, I'll get used to it, and maybe the stingers and crap will turn out cool." Then theres the Iron Spider garbage. "Heck," I thought, "A little change never hurt anyone." But bringing uncle ben back.... I have to draw the line somewhere. Stick a fork in me cause i'm done. I'm reading 616 Spider-Man No More.

Diodn't you just say you haven't been reading it anyway?

correct, I said I havn't read one in a while, just cause moneys tight. I was planning on picking it back up but, not anymore.

You know FNSM#7 was a funny read, funny how PAD felt the need to emphasize how SM dealt in science not magic, hehehh not quite sure JMS sees things that way. It made me laugh.

Also the return of a letters page in a SM title!!!
Here's hoping ASM and SSM follow suit.
I never thought I'd see the day. Surely now they will be bombarded w/ hate mail about current storylines, and I wonder if they will actually print any of the letters that point out how horrible the Spider titles are right now...
I am going to write to them anyway.

Well, my inept little friend, you spend your hard-earned money buying a story that has started off on the wrong foot....I'll stick to my guns and say that this is going to suck....

I'm going to do as I did with ASM and "vote with my wallet".

If you want to see Uncle Ben watching his widow move on after he has been dead for about 5 years (and this isn't the first time she's attempted to move on, either) and watch the meaningless, bound-to-be-undone timestream bulls*** that is bound to come afterwards, then go ahead.

I'll be spending my money on something more useful....like Cyanide or Stricnine or something.

If money's tight, arsenic is a cheap and affordable substitue as well guys
