The Dark Knight Concerns about TDK

i got criticisms, .. but i think your worrying too much.. Nolan is making more of a true batman film to me than any of the others, the most epic yet..... dark and serious..thats how it should be, thats what i want.. yeah sometimes it can be a little too dry and not super-slick. But im thrilled we got to get a director as hardcore and good as Nolan, its good he makes it HIS film, im glad hes not a studio fed hack , or a source pandering comic freak. I want him to challenge and suprise us.. im excited by the fact they are doing something new with it. Same as in the comics.. i want an artist and writer to bring their own take not roll out the same tired ****. Nolan and Ledger's new Joker is slaying me, i think he's genius, dark, messed up and basically the Joker i dreamed of seeing on film all my life... (with a totally new look that took me a while to get used to ). I like the comics joker, but hell if i'm not just as excited about this twisted , cool as ****, mass murdering demon jester. Joker is causing so much chaos in TDK that i dont know how you can say that TDK Joker wont be comic-like.. so far it sounds perfect. yeah the suit aint great but we yet to actually see it in action properly, lit, filmed etc. it hopefully will be good, all but a few of the leaked images were barely actual film shots. and the criticism about 'foreign' actors is ****ing bull**** ... it's sad if u really think that.

yeah i disliked the destruction of wayne manor in BB.. but i think it made the point that we are now going to see bruce/batman on completely new territory.. in the center of Gotham, it takes him somewhere new.. but they still got it there to rework in. The bike is just in line with the tumbler and similarly i'm sure we will like it once the film is out.. some of the film of it in action show that its sleak, cold, practical, monolithic wheels... i think it will look badass on film.. but yeah i accept these designs dont look too hot in some onset photography, but few things do.

just trying to be upbeat.. Joker, TwoFace/Dent, Joker blowing up hospitals dressed as a nurse, blowing up ferries, ambushing funerals, blowing up his own goons with bombs in their stomachs, killing cops, killing people in the street with an m16, killing the mayor disguised as a cop, mowing people down in a customized semi truck. robbing banks, broadcasting twisted messages to Gotham, baiting batman.. what is there not to like. i just see the makings of the best batman film ever, fingers crossed .. i got doubts but right now im just ****ing hyped . I want a dark, hardcore batman film, i want a marketing campaign with dark Joker cards, the red writing from Arkham Asylum, minimalist , stark teaser trailers , a brilliant cast, brilliant writer , director, a huge budget. Im finally, pathetically excited that thats what it looks like we are finally gettin. A proper Batman film. if people want 'dead-end' batman/joker, youtube, fanmade batman, or some mtv superhero film im sure it will come back round. right now whatever his idiosyncrasies, im grateful we got Nolan.

Agree. Nolan delivers the thinking man's Batman. And anyone who puts Joker in a pink nurse's outfit is on the right wavelength.

I'm guessing you don't interrogate people on the street for dressing differently from you or listening to different styles of music?

Careful. He could be Fashion Police, or the iPod Inspector. And he Knows Where You Live.

WooOOWOOOWOOO
Fashion Police you get a ticket for wearing white after labor day

There are a few things I'm not totally excited about, but I have no concern that the movie won't be totally awesome. I'm really, really excited about it.

Like why doesn't he cast American actors? I'm fine with mostly foreign actors, its no big deal, but at this point it seems like he's actually against hiring Americans. So any future movies he does you know that the villian will be played by a brit or an aussie before the movie even starts casting.

Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Michael Hall, Eric Roberts? That is such a ridiculous statement for so many reasons. Besides the fact that there are plenty of American actors in the film, I would much rather the best actor be cast for a role regardless of where they are from.

Yes, this is a large range of talent conisisting of people from both the US and otherwise.

I'm really not looking that forward to this movie anymore. I was pumped, I'm a gigantic fan, but nothing in this movie feels very Batman to me.

Im concerned about the suit, the joker, the batpod, the "realism", hiring only foreign actors, and the Batmen.

The suit looks ridiculous. I know they are trying to make it believable, but it doesn't even look good. They need to get away from using all this rubber and try out new materials. How is Batman supposed to be running over the rooftops and jumping around when he's wearing Tank armor? Why does the batpod look like just two big wheels? It's like this Batman universe has no style. It's function over form; nothing looks Batman-like at all. I realize too that the mansion burned down in movie 1, but I don't like the not-Batcave in this. When will Batman actually become the mythic great scary character he's supposed to be? I like Batman to at least appear legendary, have the car and the cave, and actually make it look like the comic for once. It seems Nolan has his "schticks" and thats about it. I'm afraid after the success of Batman Begins that the studio might of given Nolan too much control, and he's just running with it any way he wants. That can be a good thing, but I don't think it is with TDK. Nolan doesn't seem like he's much of a Batman fan. I mean, honestly, so far as we know is anything "batman" really being preserved? It seems like hes just making it a real world movie that happens to have Batman as one of the characters. It's kind of like the new Halloween. He's stripping down all the essentials of what makes these characters great, and all the mysticism, and making it just like "realistic". I don't know why most ppl are bashing Halloween for doing that, but it's ok for Nolan to do the exact same thing. I question anybody who says they are a fan, but then decides to change important things, that were never shown on screen properly in the first place, like the Joker's actual origin. I'm also lookin at you, RAIMI. Leave characters like the Joker and Venom alone! Especially since we haven't even seen the right versions of these characters in live action before.

Sorry for the long post, I don't post on here often, but those are my concerns.
I get what your sayin cuz I use to feel like that too about some things but then I soon grew out of it

You gotta be kidding, this is by far the closest bat movie to comics based, atleast from what we've heard.

So I don't see where you come from.

Don't worry about it, man...Nolan's not Singer.

My only concern (if you could call it that) is Harvey Dent's characterization, since it's obvious by now that Two-Face shows up. I'm not really "concerned" about it though, I'm more interested to see how they pull it off.

My major concerns are

the suit. I don't particularly care for the pants.
the fighting scenes. I wish they were more like Jason Bourne and not so close in and edited to the point that you can't tell what's going on. I know what he's trying to do here but it doesn't work for me and makes me think he's doing it to cover up the limitations on the suit's flexibility and perhaps some sloppy fight coordinating.
the batpod. sorry but that thing looks like it would be terrible to drive.

other than that it's looking good. I like Joker's look and the plot points I know about already. but I'm not without my reservations.

What did his pants ever do to you??? And if ou're open-minded the Bat-pod looks very comfy to ride.

That doesn't make sense, he called out Raimi, not Singer. The big complaint with Singer is that he added something, namely Superman's son. Other than that, he basically carried on the tradition of the previous movies (The good ones). I think Singer genuinely wanted to bring a traditional Superman to the screen. And while flawed, it wasn't completely awful. I think the original post you quoted is more concerned with the opposite, namely Nolan running with the character in the wrong direction.

My concerns are;

Busy plot- or rather how they could esaily end up short-changing aspects because of the need to cram stuff in.

Bat-suit- I like the supposed mobility factor, but it looks awful.

Bat-pod- While the idea of the tumbler breaking(it'd take alot for this to happen), i do not like Batman on a bike. Never have, never will. And it looks too Batman Beyond for me.

thats it..

There are some things that I dislike but I really have no concerns. I'm not jumping the gun and calling it the greatest comic book movie that will ever be made, like 99% of the users did on the Spider-Man 3 board when the first teaser came out. I am hoping it's good though.

My concerns are execution and dialogue related, so I have no idea yet. All the ideas sound great and follow on from Begins very well, difficult to see how the film won't be decent at the very least. Just hope the potential isn't squandered.

What we've heard isn't all that much. Without a script or seeing the movie, you really can't tell. And I wouldn't say by far that it's the closest to the comics. Both Nolan's and Burton's universe have taken certain liberties with the character, but Burton's Gotham felt more like the Gotham of the comics. If I made a list of things that were closest to the comics based on different aspects of each universe, I'd probably come out pretty even.

How the **** does a cross dressing Joker translate to Nolan delievering a "thinking man's Batman"?

Never heard that concern before

I'm concerned that Cillian Murphy's hair is looking too short for the continuity factor to be where I want it.

I think the fake Batmen look too fat.

The Joker is wearing purple..... Damn this film to hell.....

....Iron man, here I come.

Where have you seen a pic that shows murphys hair. Also, the batmen only look fat cuz of that big chest plate. And umm sorry to say but joker does wear purple
