The Dark Knight Ideas and concerns

My only concern is the Joker, how he will look and his characterization, whether Ledger can pull it off but these are minor concerns as i'm pretty confident in this team.........oh and the fight scenes i hope improve.

Ideas are for my own Batman movie,at this point the script is written and is being filmed, whatever ideas i have of vehicles, cameos and sequences are pointless as they are most likely not gonna be there

Im not concerned about seeing another B'89....this movie wont be all Joker and that makes me happy.

Nolan is uber neat.

No they wouldn't. Batman would save them somehow. That's how the sadistic moral choice works: It never works.

True in summer blockbusters but not in other movies and TV shows where they show that there are always consequences

Oh man, Sasquatchs, I am so glad that you mentioned the corrupt mayor theme! Forgive me if I am off in saying this, but i feel that this is most neglected ideas that will more than likely pop up in The Dark Knight. Loeb is a character from Year One, and he is corrupt as hell. And obsessed with bringing down the Batman. The only love story i would want to see is the whole Gordon/Sarah Essen scandal, but that might require a little more character development than is possible here.

Oops, wrote too fast. COMMISSIONER LOeb, not meaning he was mayor. Perhaps Mayor Hill will make a debut? The story arc from the seventies/eighties involving the corrupt mayor and commissioner working with/against Rupert Thorne and against Gordon and Batman was delicious:)

My only big concern is that Batman won't have his intellect, relentless planning and sleuthing skills fleshed out. Hopefully the Joker's presence will bring that side of him out.

As everyone, I'm a tad worried about how Joker will be handled. Especially with these pictures of Ledger on set without make-up floating around. I'm sure he'll have the legendary white face and red lips eventually, but I really hope it doesn't take 45 minutes for him to get there.

I'm willing to bet that Heath's joker is pre-joker when Gordon refers to him at the end.

"Has a taste for the theatrical."

One could say that Gordon is refering to heath going around with a clown mask and giddup, instead of the makeup.

Gordon never said that this man looked like a clown yet. The way he said "Has a taste for the theatrics..." could just mean that he likes to rob banks wearing a joker mask.

Damn... just noticed the guy above me posted the exact same thing. lol

Lets hope Nolan dislikes these ideas as much as I do. :down

Jonathan Nolan is a lot better writer than Goyer so I would not be worried. Goyer is the guy who wrote and directed Blade 3 and a lot of the dialogue in BB is pretty corny to be honest (the one-liners especially). I think TDK's script will be a lot better.

Patience is a virtue. Nolan isn't killing the Joker off in TDK, so he will be back for part 3. He will be on screen in full Joker get-up for plenty of screen time so just be patient. :cwink:

But he already is going around with a clown mask. Maybe something happens that doesn't alter the way he looks, but his mentality is just broken. Something happens to him that just makes him become a complete loon and then he starts actually wearing the make-up.

Im thinking that when the clown mask comes off, it'll be The Joker underneath....white skin, green hair, the works. Think about it : we've all seen the pics of Ledger off-set in the joker gear, and the pic of those two crew members carrying the clown masks in boxes. Its all from the same days filming.

This is what I've assumed is happening:

1. We've seen Ledger in makeup on the set of the bank robbery, but only once.

2. We've seen Ledger without makeup on the set of the bank robbery many, many times, for shots of him in a mask.

3. In the moments in which Ledger is not in his mask outside, he seems to have somewhat pale features or green splotches in his hair. Almost like he's had makeup removed.

4. We're aware that, in the bank robbery scene, one of the robbers takes off his mask, horrifying the bank manager and letting him know that he planned the heist.

5. Now, let's consider the fact that in a movie you can shoot any scene you want at any time and just line it up so that it works chronologically. I can shoot the last scene the first day of filming and the first scene the last day of filming. I can film parts of the beginning when the whole movie should be done and we're just making edits. I can dub over people whose voice acting is unclear. I can even change people's voices entirely.

Movie-making allows for a very large spectrum of flexibility.

So.

Let's see if we're all still going to be ****ing morons about this and refuse to add up the obvious.

Hopefully its the opposite, green hair and white skin that's hidden with dye and makeup

So, I wonder how Ledger will change his when he turns officially into the Joker.

It's a possibility. It's unlikely, as in the script of this very seen as soon as Joker takes off his mask the Bank Manager reacts, thus leading us to guess that, no, he is not wearing makeup at all. I'd give you the chance of him wearing some sort of cover-up in his hair, if we hadn't already seen him with green hair and white skin, and if the stunt double didn't have green hair as well.

The only thing that troubles me is how in another side he managed to fool one of his men into thinking he was someone else.

But what do I expect to see in this?

Well, we're not going to get a full reveal of Joker for a long time. I don't think we'll even see him in this scene, not completely. We'll see stuff like:

1. Someone sitting in the suburban, tapping his fingers on the edge of the seat, wickedly saying, "We ready?"

2. A pair of feet walking up to the bank, trailing behind his goons.

3. A man seen from the shoulders down, holding a gun on a group of people.

4. A man in a mask standing still, and then as one of the thieves calls out to him, he slowly turns, to reveal to the camera a full head of green hair.

5. When the bank manager taunts him, we see the bank manager in the middle of the screen and someone standing over him, but we're unable to see his face. He says, "Call it a hunch," one hand goes up, there's the sound of something moving, the bank manager cries out in fear, and then the hand comes back down holding the clown mask. The bank manager starts talking, and then the figure, his head and face still off screen, shoots him in the head, turns, and leaves.

This entire scene can be creatively shot to build anticipation of the reveal of the Joker and show nothing more than a green head of hair. I don't think it will, though, as we've already (blurrily) seen Ledger in full Joker make-up. But you could.

As far as "Ledger changing his," I don't know what "his" refers to.

Hmm, its just as puzzling the other way. If he doesn't have green hair already that means he's got to dye his hair in the time it takes the police to respond to a 911 call, while simultaneously robbing the bank :woot:

Or, he goes to the bathroom and washes the brown dye out  Neither way makes much sense

CONCERN: Loeb is still commissioner. Guy who played him is a terrible actor, plus someone has to go for the catastrophe in the Narrows

If it wasn't for the "Chuckles" side this would all be so easy.

EDIT: How sure are we that the "sides" are legit?

Nolan: Excellent. They are confused. With us in England by the end of the week and info being scarce after that, everything is going according to plan.

They will pay for that "Begins" script leak. They will pay...

^ IDEA: Loeb's chances aren't pretty good in this flick. Would you prefer him shot to death, or something more creative? :joker:

CONCERN: Lots of dialogue will be unintelligible without the benefit of subtitles, rewind or repeat viewings. See the Prestige, Memento or Batman Begins for examples.

I bet he was. Judging by his input on The Prestige, he hates it when people get behind the camera and figure out how a movie works.

EDIT: I didn't have much a problem understanding the dialogue in those movies. Weird.

LOL!

I would argue that Ledger's non-makeup scene is a flashback, and explains his origin. I'd say that his character is too "crazy" for the other robbers (killing people, leaving the calling card behind), and Maroni orders the other robbers to kill him, they throw him in acid... they think he dies... but he doesn't. He becomes the Joker, and plots the Five-Way Revenge.

By the way, is it just me, or does the photos of the bank heist remind you of the movie "Heat" ??? I hope it has the same visual style!!!

EDIT: How sure are we that the "sides" are legit?

Well with the Bank Manager and SWAT leader sides we know they filmed a bank heist with masked goons and a school bus, so that matches. Otherwise, I doubt they'd cast for roles that didn't exist and the dialogue was probably already altered to filter out plot points. Look back at the sides, the only humongous spoilers are the 'vigilante' and the ferry scenes, but they were casting for those roles so it was unavoidable anyway. They could've slightly changed their lines but it's likely that scenes will be there in some shape or form

who was the 5 villians in batman begins? all I know is ras and scarecrow and zsasz....who did I forget?
