Confirmed - Bioshock on PS3!

I must have had a fanboy relapse when I actually preordered Halo3 or when I decided to save up for a 360 (I'm a college student. I'm poor) or when I played Gears of War that one time at gamespot and began cheesing like a little b**ch. MUST....RECONFIGURE...BODY....FANBOY..CELLS...ARE...MUTATING!!!!!!!

I meant gamestop lol. Well yeah, I already bought the damn thing off Amazon. I did that for each iteration in the series. Gotta 360 in my dorm room (just not mine) so I'll play it there starting a little after September 25th (when it ships) then I'll play it on my own system when I have one.

If Microsoft only owned the code there'd be nothing stopping them from simply porting the game from scratch without using the existing codebase. ;)
That's a cute idea but in the courts it would go down as plagiarism.

Now for a few "Wisdom of WHF" bits...

1. Bioshock will be ported to the PS3.

2. Jade Empire sucked, Jade Empire 2 will hopefully never be made, Dragon Age will probably just be KotOR all over again (as JE was) and Mass Effect obviously won't be on anything other than the 360 and PC.

3. MGS4 will be on the Xbox360 eventually. Definitely not day 1 but when the game goes gold, it's totally out of Kojima's hands and into the "BUSINESS" hands of Konami, who will give it to a small dev-house to port with zero assistance from Kojima Productions.

4. If "The Last Remnant" does well on the Xbox360 I promise FFXIII gets ported.

5. Superman1314 is a fanboy but doesn't have anything interesting to say.

You should be pre-ordering CoD4, Mass Effect and Bioshock...NOT HALO 3! :(

I would destroy life in order to play Mass Effect. PLEASE LET ME PLAY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW, MICROSOFT!!!!!!!! Sadly, naw, I don't have it bought and paid for. Aint that a b***h?

A very cute and inpractical idea, but since Microsoft doesn't own the IP, would they really be able to sue for Plaguerism? Granted Bioware would pretty much be copying the code they already made except building it for the PS3 architecture. I'm still demanding we get a source on that btw.

Agree, agree. No clue what Dragon Age is going to be, are they developing it simultaniously or is it in pre-production until Mass Effect is done.

I'd say it stands a good chance of going multiplatform, but Kojima could always put MGO multiplatform to appease Konami corporate. Granted once you've done that the leg work for porting MGS4 would be pretty much done. Eitherway it won't be on the 360 anytime soon following the release on the PS3, if it does go. Don't forget taht Konami Corporate would be very reluctant to port the game without Kojima's approval, considering his stature within the company and how he was vice president of the company before deciding to step down to run Kojima Productions.

I don't think Sony would let that happen, period. They'd move mountains to stop that. Nomura seems more interested in keeping FF 1 platform at a time, the core series anyway, and he basically is SE these days as far as the Square side is concerned. The only way I can see them porting it is if FFXII doesn't sell well, which I can't see happening. But they're going to be pissed if it sells below 1.7 million in Japan.

I really dont see a MGS4 port. Like Zen said, I wouldnt rule out MGO especailly since the 360 is more geared toward an online community

Hideo Kojima has fought tooth and nail to keep MGS4 PS3 only, and Sony has been too. It's not gonna be on Xbox 360. FFXIII won't be on 360 either since it'll take up way too much space. It'd be like porting Final Fantasy VII to N64.

FFXIII going to the 360 is as likely as Mass Effect going to the Ps3

The only way FFXIII proper would go to the 360 is if it undersold on the PS3, there could be a FFXIII spinoff that reaches the 360, but you wouldn't see FFXIII proper.

ARRRRGH!!!!

FINAL FANTASY XIII IS A THIRD PARTY TITLE. MASS EFFECT IS A SECOND PARTY TITLE. THIRD PARTIES CAN GO MULTIPLATFORM, SECOND PARTIES CAN'T GOD DAMMIT!!!! :cmad:

Christ, no wonder why I'm so freaking bitter now :cmad:

You seem to be getting especially worked up over such a small annoyance. (I don't think he was saying Mass Effect would go to the PS3, just that the chances of either going is about the same, not necessarilly for the same reasons between them though).

That said, it's very unlikely that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Final Fantasy XIII will go multiplatform.

Konami executives want it to go multiplatform, but many people ignore the fact that Kojima does hold a lot of power in Konami. Also, it will sell better than Metal Gear Solid 3 did. Better hype. Better reputation. And the majority of Playstation 3 owners will get this game so Konami really should have no fear of this game underselling (which is what Kituae said is what might cause Metal Gear Solid 4 to go multiplatform). I can't see this game selling less than 5 million.

And based on the development of the game it is optimized for Playstation 3 hardware and from what Kojima has said, the game is too big for DVD9

Also it's pretty damn obvious that Sony is paying Konami the co-marketing dollars it wants with promoting the game in E3 2006 and E3 2007 and with the presence they've had at the Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary party they've probably took up some of the bill to hold it. Also they're probably paying Konami for exclusitivity.

It's people constantly confusing third parties with first and second ones again and again and again that is annoying me :cmad:

No one is confusing s**t. Calm down. There's much more at play here than generic, party affiliations. Square ALWAYS does one SKU, one game. They make a game FOR one system then move on to the next project. Yoichi Wada said FF is a PS3 series on several occasions. The Mass Effect series could TECNHICALLY go multiplatform. They're like Factor 5. They're not owned by anyone but they make games for the systems that they like and get paid under the table to make the game as good as possible. But it's their series. To say FFXIII will go to 360 just does not seem fathomable just like Mass Effect 1 going to PS3. They are only 10% done with the ps3 version as is. Want to wait 2 more years AFTER the PS3 release for a 360 version? And for what? The PS3 will have more than enough of an install base to meet the demands of FFXIII.

Edit: Oh I forgot. FF XIII will be built on the company's proprietary White Engine, which is tooled to render animated sequences specifically using the PS3's Cell processor, right? That basically rules out the idea of a simultaneous release. If they developed for the 360, they'd need to not only use a different engine but they'd have to start after it is released for the PS3 for sure. It's not fathomable to me.

Final Fantasy XIII has more of a chance of going multiplatform because it's a THIRD PARTY!!! Mass Effect is a SECOND PARTY!!! It's being published by Microsoft for crying out loud!!!

People need to stop comparing third party titles with first and second party titles :cmad:

Do you think maybe Mario will make a cameo in Mass Effect? Rare put Diddy Kong Racing on the DS, so maybe Nintendo can return the favor to Microsoft. :wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

Diddy Kong Racing was Nintendo-published, because Nintendo owns Diddy Kong.

I give up. Technically, NCSoft is third party but there is no way in hell they are developing for the 360. So, the chance of their games and Mass Effect switching platforms is the same...zilch. Hmmm I guess they should be considered first party now but no money switched hands, so it's just like a Rockstar type of thing. "I'll make game A...I promise it will be exclusive."
