what does he say at the beginning? "i should really change that to petty dabbler, I hate ___________"

Marv, Matt Ryan looks like he's walked out of a comic book. He has the look down.

Looks aren't everything. I agree he is identical, but I just don't really care for him in that trailer. It could be his voice and accent. He's just lacking in presence imo.

Most Likely when all the Other TV series starts thier seasons usually everything starts in September-October and Sometimes November.

Grimm has been premiering the week before Halloween so I would expect Constantine to debut then too. It will get 7 episodes in from late October to mid December.

I don't see this making it. I'm all for it, but something is off. It might just be NBC, or that it just looks like another supernatural. Not really feeling the main actor and some of the effects are pretty chintzy. Or maybe it's just the trailer. I'll watch a few episodes before I write it off. Sometimes these trailers just don't do a show justice.

The bar is low for the show to reach with the timelslot it has so it could have a long life.

Well, the CONSTANTINE trailer has arrived, and it's a bit of a mixed bag. There are some sequences that seem effectively chilling, with some good demonic SFX in particular. But there are other parts that seem really hokey, really clean-cut and stagey in that bottom-drawer network TV kinda way, and the lead actress seems to be wooden as a plank. But of course, the show will rise or fall on the success of its leading man. John Constantine is one of the most charismatic protagonists in comics, and I can't quite put my finger on whether Matt Ryan is striking the right chord or not. He looks the part, and generally seems closer to the Constantine of the comics than Keanu Reeves did, at least. But - and this could be down to a 3-minute trailer not capturing the nuances of the role, I'll admit - he seems here to me pretty much a standard hero with some quips up his sleeves rather than the acerbic, manipulative anti-hero of the comics. And Matt Ryan's accent is VERY Welsh, with it only sporadically sounding like he's even attempting a Liverpool accent. Jury's out on this one, but I shall hope for the best. CONSTANTINE would be wise to draw some inspiration from its NBC stablemate, HANNIBAL, in trying to nail down a tone.

I wonder if they are just sticking to 13 episodes a season for this show or if they plan on premiering Hannibal at the start of summer again.

Yeah, Reggie Ledoux is Chas.

Really looking forward to this. I wouldn't mind if it had a similar feel to earlier Supernatural episodes.

Because he's not Keanu?

He doesn't have to be Keanu but I want a little more from a lead character than some quips and "funny" britishness. Idk maybe the average American will eat this **** up, but for me it's just another british dude saying bullocks and buggar in a funny accent. I want an anti hero and someone who's a bit of a jaded @$$h0le. Not a funny quirky Constantine. The trailer didn't work for me. Here's hoping the pilot is better and that the trailer just misrepresented the show and the lead.

I'm going to assume that that's the case. Trailers are usually designed to appeal to the widest possible audience anyway.

That was a really good trailer. Looking forward to this one.

I get what you were saying. I appreciate that much of the American viewing audience won't be able to tell the difference between a Welsh accent and a Liverpudlian accent, but I notice it, and the other British folk on my social media feeds are noticing it. The little touches like that, not going the extra mile for authenticity, niggle at me.

And, as I said above, the whole thing feels very safe and sanitised, from the little we see here, at least. Right now I'm getting the sense that this is much more "DC New 52 Constantine" than "DC Vertigo Hellblazer."

Not when Ravenscar, Astra and Nergal about it's not. Do you see then bringing Nick Necro and genderbending Sargon? I think not

Yeah, me too.

I'm a little surprised they even used the Hellblazer name from the comics in the trailer. My guess is, that it was taken out of the creative department's hands to try and capitalize on any perceived name recognition from the movie. I mean, the movie wasn't so bad.

I am happy they didn't make him American. The trailer wasn't great, but it has me feeling hopeful. Sometimes, these shows need time to find a groove and find the tone. They might not have the time to work with, so hopefully it's good out of the gate. I agree that looks aren't everything, but it's still pretty cool to see Ryan have the look down. I'll give it a shot. I was one of the people who thought the idea of doing a Hannibal show on NBC was misguided and going to suck.

My initial reaction, without looking at cast or a trailer, to a Hellblazer show on NBC is kind of the same. So, I think it could work. Hopefully it will. The trailer has me feeling positive. Again, it wasn't a homerun...but I thought it was solid.

I don't think they titled the show Constantine because of the movie, but rather for the same reason the movie went with the title: the Hellraiser franchise.

Loved the trailer, how does this not have a sub-thread

I wouldve loved John Constantine: Hellblazer

Constantine works just fine though.
