The Dark Knight Rises Continuity in TDKR

Another thing:

The shot of Gotham we see in the second TDKR trailer is clearly a digitally enhanced Pittsburgh, made to look like TDK Gotham.

I would be pretty disappointed if there were no mention of the joker, especially if Dent is such a big part of it. Seeing as how easily the joker got out of capture in TDK, plus his warning of battling batman forever... It would seem like a cop out letting all that go.

Plus, I'd like to see more of the railways in the exterior city shots, given its importance to the city in BB.

WTF would i care if joker wouldnt get mentioned?
Ra's didnt either get mentioned in TDK and he also caused much trouble in gotham.

Pffff some fanboys and girls are too strickt sometimes.

I never had problems with it, but it would be cool to see the Narrows again

I like the idea of this thread quite alot. It is always fun to find the connections that tie the movies of this series together.

First, I have to agree with some on this board who felt that the narrows were not really addressed in TDK. I thought that might have been a major plot point that they would have carried over from BB. Like perhaps they would show early on Batman rounding up some more inmates from Arkham and then have him and Gordon say something to the effect of "last inmate caught". Then dig in on the Joker stuff.

I mean I understand wanting to shift the focus to the mob, their banks, and the Joker. But I also feel some brief reference or short scene with Batman capturing some former Arkham inmates would have been nice.

Next, there will be threads to both of the previous movies in TDKR. I believe we will find Mr. Wayne in a state of stasis at the begining of this new film. What I mean by that is that he will still be suffering emotionally and mentally from the loss of Rachel in TDK. He will also be fatigued and apathetic due to continually going out night after night as The Dark Knight for 8 years. He is in essence, stuck. Not able to move on from his parents or rachels death and the blame and guilt that smothers him. But also in turn not being able to let go of the Batman.

There will also be plenty of references to Harvey Dent, his fall and actions after, and then most importantly the cover up that Gordon and Batman engaged in. The pictures released have all but made that certain. As to how Bane knows the truth will be interesting as only the Joker knew what really happened to Dent. But the cover up plays perfectly into Bane's plan. By exposing the fact that the police and mayor lied to the people about Dent, it allows Bane to convince the populace of Gotham that the government is not to be trusted. Add to that his second argument regarding the aloof, uncaring wealthy class in Gotham and you have a recipe for revolt.

Wayne Manor will be back, which is a reference to both BB and TDK. Also, having a completed and remodeled Batcave will also reference the comments made by Bruce to Alfred about improving the foundations of Wayne Manor in BB. Personally I thrilled to possibly be getting a completed batcave in TDKR. It was the one element missing from the two previous films.

LOS will be back, Talia will be seeking revenge for Ra's death, Alfred will lament not protecting Bruce from the monster he created, Mayor Garcia will return, the batpod, Bruce's batsuit remains the same, the GPD is still after Batman for the murders of those cops. All of these things tie to one or both of the previous films. I think Nolan will do a good job of making TDKR fit perfectly with the previous two and moreso provide a much greater connection between BB and TDK.

This is not a digitally enhanced Pittsburgh. It's definitely a shot of New York along the East River (the sloped top building is the Citicorp and the bridge is the Queensboro, the same one from the climax of the 1st Spider-man movie).

Sorry, proud New Yorker over here. So glad that they finally filmed in the real Gotham city.

It's true, my mistake. Amazing how it fits Gotham and looks like TDK's.

In fact, fans may want to revisit that second film, as Nolan tells EW that the last chapter of his cinematic saga explores the ramifications of The Dark Knight’s chilling climax, in which Batman and super-cop Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) hatch a conspiracy to cover up the sins of Gotham City’s so-called “white knight,” the late Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face (Aaron Eckhart).

There you go, straight from Nolan's mouth. Plenty of TDK continuity in this one for those thirsting for it.

We kind of already knew that though.

With the Harvey Dent act and having seen Bane ripping up Dents picture not to mention memorials still being held for Harvey Dent in the trailer and the movie starting with the eulogy by Gordon from the end of TDK. It was a given.

Well now you know it for certain beyond any doubt, don't you.

Not really. I didn't need Nolan to confirm something that was blatantly obvious.

It's neat I guess he's saying it himself though and new for those who haven't been keeping up with the info like we have I suppose.

It wasn't blatantly obvious to some. There was a few who believed it could have just meant Bane was making a symbolic gesture by ripping up Dent's photo to the inmates who were locked up by him in an attempt to rile them up and get them on side.

You're forgetting the prologue intro starting with the eulogy. There being a memorial for the character in the second trailer. Like I said there was enough to indicate that the decisions made in the last film were going to surface its head again. Especially the Harvey Dent cover up.

You'd have to be blind not to be able to tell.

About the memorial thing. In the trailer, they're in front of Wayne Manor. In the prologue, they're indoors.

Do they hold two sperate memorials in the movie...?

You're preaching to the choir. I said others were saying that, not me. I'm not "forgetting" anything.

One is the Dent funeral at the end of TDK, the other is a memorial.

Alfred did a piss poor job of stitching. If he weren't so busy cracking jokes about dogs & Wayne crushing on Rachel he might have done a better job. :o

i like the scar from the dog. it makes him more normal human plus it shows again that Bruce's body is f... up. he is almost 40 years old full of scars. not from 5 nights ago. but from the last 10 years. the guy deserves a happy ending and i hope he will get one. he did a lot for Gotham.

His back is probably even more wrecked.

I love it. The Chechen's dogs left their mark on Batman :D
