Controversy over DK Strikes Again

I'm like on a graphic novel binge this past month after reading From Hell, The Dark Knight Returns, Ronin, Wanted, and Watchmen. This is the next graphic novel I'll start reading after I finish V for Vendetta and the Long Holloween (which I'm reading now).

That's how I feel about all of the Loeb/Sale books-I only got em for the story.
I think Sale's art is beautiful. I love his use of shadow and composition.

Frank's art is ever changing.
Perhaps, but I've rarely thought it was good.

He's going back to his original DKR style again it seems in his next Batman book.
Looks more SIN CITY-esque, to me.

Frank's a legend.
Unfortunately.

At times I liked it and at times I didn't care for it. I still can't decide.

wait, has he shown anything from it yet?

Robin is the new Joker. He went insane from Batman wanting nothing more to do with him.

Which is awful writing like you said. Mostly because in the first "DK" book, Batman is wishing Robin were there to help him like in the old days. In the new one, Batman says he was never good enough. Stupid Miller.

exactly ^

and yes I love seeing Batman Alone but Overall you can't let batman be alone or he'll die or go insane and kill
Robin is his light

Love Frank Miller. Hated DKSA.

In the words of Darwyn Cooke: ****, he just took the money and ran.

I think it's a must read regarless how you feel about it.

I really liked the story. I think he took the next logical step. He realized beating up muggers and thieves was pretty useless. THe only way to fix it would be on a global scale.

The Robin thing I think was just a funy idea he had and he knew it would stir up the fanboys. He loves stirring up the fanboys! :D

The art I really didn't care for. His art has always been in a state of flux depending on who was influencing him at any given time.

The Ronin era was Moebius and Goseki Kojima. Sin City was his B&W experiment. DKSB was very cartoony. Too much for my taste but the thing with Miller is if you don't like what your getting now, hang out, it will change again and you might like that a whole lot!

I'll have to re-read it, but I seem to remember its the media which hates him, and the public which likes him but is pretty much 100% influenced by the media. Only in a few short pieces of dialogue is it clear that the public kinda/sorta support Batman, its the government controlled media which is trying to sell the image that he's a bad guy...

All I can say is try reading it first before coming to its defense (or to criticise it). The reasons for its unpopularity should be startingly obvious, especially when compared to a book like DKR.

Thanks for the reply bro! But I WAS talking about DKR. I wasnt comparing DKSA to DKR. If this is a solely DKSA thread, my apologies, I just couldn't find a more appropriate place to post my input.

But if you'd reread my post...

SPOILER warning...

Hi guys, I have a question. This thread's the closest to my query so I decided to post it here.

I'm about halfway through DKR already, and there's a particular point by the end of the first book which kinda lessened my enthusiasm for its realism and depth.... Two Face finally reveals on public television that he's the mastermind of a plan to blow up Gotham. Batman foils his plans and even gets one of the choppers to explode in mid air (surely the people of Gotham would've noticed that). But still, after all that, the public still bashes Batman?? I would've thought that two face would've totally lost his credibilty and people would've changed their minds especially since there was a big debate earlier in the book about Two Face and Batman. After Batman's efforts, I thought that the public would've been proven wrong. Did I miss something here?

...what was the basis of the media and public still bashing Batman after he just revealed Two Face?

Exactly. Frank has stirred up the fanboys. Fanboys can't take it. The Dark Knight Strikes Again tells you right away that if you were looking for the same thing as the original, look elsewhere. This is straight satire...take it or leave it-IN B4 QUOTED, THEN ADDED "LEAVE IT"! And as far as Frank's art-he has always been one of my favorites, even when he goes loose.

Good for you. Freedom of opinion without persecution is what makes our country just grand.
