And to not take into consideration the area of which a person lives is also presumptuous. No one here can speak for cops as a whole. Most of us are basing our opinions off of our own experiences, some good, some bad and so on.

Just because the area where you live has mostly good cops and only a couple of ********s, does not mean this automatically applies to anywhere else in the nation. And vice-versa.

Take the cops of the L.A. area, mainly the population during the Rodney King beating. If one were to go back and do research, and talk to those living in that area of that time, especially those of a minority race, one would find that corruption and police brutality was far from a rare and isolated incident.

But this should not, hopefully, project a bad view in everyone's mind of cops as a whole. There are plenty of bad cops out there, but also plenty of good ones as well.

I agree with this. I was mostly addressing people who put a bad label on ALL cops. That type of thing just annoys me.

I don't either. He punched a classmate and then ran from a police officer. It might not have been necessary for the cop to gun him down, but this is why you don't play games with cops. If you choose to, don't cry victim when you get in trouble.

It's pretty simple, if the guy can't aprehend a 14 year old child, weapon or not, without smoking the little bastard, then he's unworthy of being a cop.

We put a lot of power in their hands, literally, they should be responsible. Shooting a kid just because he runs at you isn't being responsible as far as i'm concerned.

Unless the kid was packing a shooter or a grenade, there is no reason what so ever to shoot him.

It's always confused me as to why people run from the cops when they didn't really do much wrong. Kid wasn't on anything, didn't have any drugs or weapons on him, and probably just ***** slapped someone but then he takes off like a ****ing idiot when a cop pulls a gun on him and tells him to freeze.

I concur, but as far as I'm concerned, the people labelling all cops as monsters or saying they should be tried for crimes against humanity deserve the very same fate.

Are there corrupt cops? OF COURSE there are. But there are just as many cops who are simple family people who go out and put their lives on the line every day and don't deserve to be trashed by whiny ******* just because they didn't like the traffic ticket they got for driving 90 mph.

That's not the same situation. This kid was witnessed committing physical assault on another kid, and was being chased down on foot by a cop.

Look, I'm not saying he deserved to die, but it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't being an idiot.

He wasn't shot for running away. He was shot because he was stupid enough to charge at an armed cop.

You say he didn't have a weapon? When some guy comes flying out of a dark building at you, how are you supposed to know that?

If the cop wanted to take the kid down, he should of aimed for the leg. The cops past record seems to back up his stupidity, then again, I don't know how dark it was, or what ran threw the cops mind at the time. It sounds like he reacted poorly, I doubt it was intentional to kill an unarmed 14 year old boy.

Do cops risk their lives to ensure I live a long and happy life are do they risk their lives to keep us under control. If I feel it's the latter reason then why should I appreciate and implicitly trust the police?

I still say people hate cops for their oppressive function which is just as acceptable as a person loving firefighters for their always helpful function.
