In my neck of the woods, a man walked up to a daycare and told the adminastration that he was there because God told him to take the kids. When they called 911, it took the cops 40 minutes to show up. WTF????? I mean, I know that the local cops here are incompetent, but this is absolutely uncalled for. The Sheriff's department claims they were in the middle of a shift change, which is why it took so long. Bull, in this county, we have cops that are on call, 24/7, and they can even bring their patrol cruiser home with them!

Shift change?! That's an excuse for a restaurant, not a police force.

On the plus side, criminals in your town now know they have a 40 minute window to commit crimes.

Geez, only 40 minutes. That's enough time to take down all the adults, scoot the kids onto the bus and drive off for 20 miles or so and still have time to get some coffee and donuts and wave to the cops as you drive off.

Shift-change?!?! That sounds like a super-troopers joke. This sheriff should be fired. What an indifferent piece of crap. If his son was at that daycare you can bet cars would roll up in less than 5 minutes.

Be glad you don't live in the hood, where they debate whether to even go or not.

My guess is there was a shift change, as well as some more important stuff to attend to. Cops tend to prioritize incidents. Crazy people are not a priority unless they're hurting someone.

Yeah, but even so, you'd think a grown man talking nonsense and threatening to kidnap the children at a kindergarten would rank pretty high on the priority list. At the very least they could have sent a squad car over to check it out and given two officers half an hour over time.

So....a guy showing up at a daycare claiming that God told him to kidnap a bunch of kids isn't a priority?

I feel like it says he said "God told me to take the children". Not kidnap them. And it's a moot point, because the parents obviously didn't buy his story. Was he actually kidnapping them? No? Then what's the big deal? The man's likely nuts.

This is probably the worst rebuttal I've ever seen on the Hype.

How is "God told me to take the children" not considered a threat to kidnap the children?

Hyperbolic much?

How? Because not everything a crazy person says is a "direct threat".

For all we know, he was like "God told me to come pick the kids up and take them to the park".

The President was in town last week I believe to play some golf with Tiger Woods, and the Sheriff loved telling everyone how he had 70 of his finest escorting the President around town.

But the cops are a joke around here. I remember my friend and I had a cop come barreling on us, lit up his sirens and we quickly got out of the way, and then decided to watch as he pulled down the street and parked in the VIP section at Cheeta's (a strip club) and when he got out of the car, he and his frat boys joined him. Our tax dollars hard at work you know.

I'd think any person who comes into a daycare and says "God told me to ____________ the kids" is reason enough for serious concern.

Police response times are usually around or over five minutes. This gives most criminals enough time to do what they intend to do. Point being, don't think that because you call 911 they will get there in time to save you.

This is a pretty bad case, tho. They need to look into it.

Really? What if someone went to an airport and started telling everyone "I'm going to explode!"
Would you assume he just had too much taco bel?

This actually gave me the biggest laugh I've had all day :hehe:
Thanks.

I don't think law enforcement would find it so funny though lol. You can get in huge ***** for even saying bomb in an airport.
"Jack the Giant Slayer? Thats going to be a huge box office bomb"
"YOU'RE UNDER ARREST!"

TSA would tackle your ass if you said bomb or explode in an airport.
