Could Simone or her father have a superpower?

No, Simone's father did not have powers. It was just a dream that he had, a dream that was shared by Peter. Which further proves my theory that Peter is not only like Mimic, he is also like Raven, an empath.

That would make Peter the first to have 2 distinct powers. Although I guess absorbing powers could kind of be viewed as an extension of tapping into others' minds and feelings.

Yeah, I'm not buying that Peter has two distinct Powers... either he copies the abilities of others, or he has his own ability. Peter's Dreams were always AT Simone's Dad's place or, the exception, when he died, a testament to Dad's empathic dreaming abilities, and not Peter's. If Peter ever has any empathic dreams again, I'll recant, but I'm betting he can't anymore.

While I don't believe that everyone should have powers, there is evidence to suggest that Dad did. Otherwise, why would he get up and shout that "Save the World" stuff if HE didn't have powers, and furthermore, have aspects of his dream which Peter distinctly didn't have. Peter copies, Dad has the empathy.

While Peter's connection to people may allow him to hold powers (My foot hovered this morning) such as connecting to Dad's last dream, I don't think Peter is the empath... otherwise, every character deserves a "second mutation" and that would suck.

I don't know if every other character would "deserve" another power if Peter had one. Future-Hiro implied that Peter was especially important by going back in time and contacting him rather than any of the others. There are a number of reasons why that might've been, but the idea that Peter is some kind of even greater leap forward in the evolutionary chain because he has more than one power is as valid as any of those other reasons at this point.

That said, I like your idea more. It'd be interesting if Simone's dad were the empath. I don't know where they could go with that now that he's dead, but I'm sure they wouldn't have given him a power if they didn't intend to explore it somehow.

I don't think Peter is an empath. I think it was JUST a dream.

And at least it gave Richard Roundtree the chance to show us some GREAT acting.

I bet. And I bet even more that he(Charles) either possesed Simone like Xavier(coincidence?) ... or she does have a power.

I don't think they have to go anywhere with it honestly... Simone's dad having powers was not only is a catalyst for the events in Peter's life... powers he may not have realized were powers, mind you, but his death pushed Simone to Peter's side, and finally, it establishes that the mutation extends further back in the past than Papa Suresh's work...
