Episode 08 - "Seven Minutes To Midnight" - Discussion Thread

He can't change the past... but someone else can!

If you could time travel back and visit yourself then you would destroy the space time continuim and everything would go BAM!

So if he travels he can't catch up with himself...thats the theory.

well thats the reason why the jumps are so big, if he was to jump back the next day, it would of been a high probablity that he would of ran into himself.

Then why didn't he come back?
well how i see it is. current time just doesnt freeze just cause he left. its linear, so it will still go on. perhaps the show is showing whats going on in current time as Hiro is in the past b4 he sets off to go back in to the future.

like an alternate time line sorta speak.

just like how Hiro went to future and saw the nuke bomb. thats one "alternate time" while in this episode showing whats happening in current time as Hiro is gone is another "alternate time" since Hiro didnt come back to that specific place where he told Ando

The alternate timeline doesn't work. He changed that timeline's past as evidenced by the altered picture. Your explanation doesn't work unfortunately.

I think Hiro is just very inexperienced and doesn't know how to fully control his abilities yet so his "jumps" aren't precise.

There is really no focus on Hiro time jump abilities, to be precise would be very hard for him to obtain. I think the jumps are meant for him at certain times so hes able to see key events, or able to prevent occuring events.

that's what I was just thinking.

what if when bennet made eden make isaac do heroin to paint, he just gave him a placebo? you know, something to make him THINK that he was high, when he was just injecting sugar water or something.

No, I'm pretty sure there were drugs in the needle. I think Bennet is evil....he uses "mutants" for his own gain. He DOES love his daughter...and that's his only redeeming quality.

He's one of those guys you are gonna be crossed between hating and liking I think. :)

Have these people been referred to as "mutants"? I dont think they have, or will. Thats alittle close to X-men. Besides, we dont know what created these powers, a mutation, or some gene manipulation, or who knows?

I think he's "complicated"... he's not a straightforward character which is what makes him intriguing. We're always questioning his motives and wondering about his overall agenda.

Incidentally I'm pretty sure it's the real thing... watch the rolling eyes but heroine is a tough nut to crack... a relative of mine has had a life long issue with it.

At this stage it is hard to say... from Mohinder's narration and rambles though one would think that it has something to do with mutation as a response to world crisis.
Either way, it's all science fiction... :woot::oldrazz:

I think its something to do with the eclipse, sort of like Malibu's "Ultras" from the 90's (anyone remember those comics? They weren't very good, IMO, but oh, well). There was some weird cosmic event (I don't remember what, exactly) that casued all of these superheroes to start popping up all over the place. I have a feeling its something along those lines.

Not in the series, they're just "specials", but it makes for an easy label.

When the eclipse took place, some heroes ALREADY had their powers. Nathan, for one, showed a lot of control of his flight, meaning that he had 'em way before the eclipse. Same with Wolverina.

Oh yeah... forgot about that. But the eclipse has to tie in somehow, doesn't it? I mean, it's part of the logo, lol.

lol that claire knocked her straight out

I belive that the eclipse has something do to with that, but that's something we'll still find out.

This episode, far exceded my expectations

It was going good until Peter and Sylar fell off of the bleachers. That was ******ed. I thought it was going to be some kind of epic battle between them. I still don't understand why that happened. Did they slip, or did they jump, or what? I mean, Peter should have Sylar's powers too since he was near him.

Sylar did that to draw the cheerleader out I think, yet he really didnt have time with HRG cronies intercepting him.

Your comments and thoughts are important, please place them in the right thread. This thread is based on last weeks episode, which aired on November 13, 2006. The November 20, 2006 episode is called "Homecoming".

I've had this episode saved for a week, only now did I feel bored enough to put myself through watching this continually disappointing show.

And you know what, it didn't totally suck balls.
