DC Animation Creature Commandos - Animated Series

Gunn by his own admission greenlit the Clayface movie because he really liked the script. I would much rather spinoffs get greenlit for that reason (quality), over whatever bar Sony has for giving Spider-Man villains their own movie (which is clearly a bar so low you can step on it without worrying about tripping).

Supergirl is going to be an extension of Superman, so if that movie is as big of a hit as Gunn wants it to be, it makes sense to keep that momentum going by expanding that world. Plus its going to be based on a critically acclaimed Supergirl comic book story by Tom King.

One episode left, and I don't really feel any differently about the show than I did weeks ago with the opener. It's classic Gunn, but his formula isn't very flattering with such short episodes. It's at a breakneck speed, but at the same time, nothing much of substance ever happens. Maybe the cast is too big. I don't hate it or anything, but it's not nearly as special as something like Peacemaker or what Superman is promising to be like. It's just a shame that the DCU is kicking off with a mostly throwaway, middle-of-the-road project.

The show’s plot just doesn’t feel important in any way beyond it being a vehicle to introduce these obscure characters and their backstories. But I dunno, I’m still having fun with it. I like the vignette approach for this.

And I think it knows that tbh. The character work is very fun and potent with pretty good performances overall. I really like the animation as well. The story isn't all that dynamic, kinda random really, but it works to introduce the characters like Scribe said. And I really like the majority of em and the splicing structure of the backstory with the present day. I find the editing and direction very engaging.

Hard for me to get excited about Batman in DCU when we can't actually see the character for another 20 years or so.

Frankly, putting together Supergirl and Clayface movies before your Batman movie is complete and utter idiocy to me and makes no sense.
According to Gunn, Its DC Studios policy not to officially greenlight anything until the script is done and Mike Flannigan approached him with the Clayface script and he really liked it.

Yep, and I’m totally ok with all of this.

It sets out exactly what it’s meant to do: introduce us to the colourful world that is the DCU. Superman will be where the heavier lifting is accomplished from a narrative standpoint.

So if you have great scripts for Supergirl and Clayface before Batman, you sit on them? Sorry, talented people, we must arbitrarily wait until Batman comes out!!

Now THAT makes no sense.

Good finale, really liked the pacing this week. I hope season 2 comes with a couple more episodes.
I'm excited for all the new creatures! And yay, my favorite robot is back.

I thought it sucked as a finale. It was basically just another usual episode with the usual sad flashbacks. The Circe plot was not wrapped up and rushed through. There should've been another episode.
Fish girl got the usual "not really a monster. Society only treats her as one" so i knew how it was going to play out. Why Star City treated her as a potential myth/prank/whatever when she went to school....she wasnt hidden from the world. She was easily verifiable. That whole plot line made zero sense.

They reveal Clayface to Waller who doesnt even bother to go back and question Circe. Calls off the kill. Only for Clayface to be working for the Princess thus making Circe not an agent of Chaos (stupid) just for the Princess to be killed, Waller being fine with it off screen and nothing happening? Thats it? Thats the season?

It had the potential to become a great show but was waaaay too rushed. Still liked it. 7.5/10

THIS! this another issue i had with the finale, i was like wait wut!

THIS! this sums up my issues with the finale as well. I was like wait, wut??

Greenlighting completed scripts is great but there needs to be a good amount of leeway as well as actually planning. Especially this early on.

They have been planning and that leeway you're taking about lead to Clayface getting the greenlight. Let's actually see where things go these go, first before we sound the alarm bells.
