Civil War Crossbones

I don't think they'll kill him

dunno why, I just have the feeling he'll live to fight another day

better look at ol CB

Captain-Aem-3.jpg

the mask looks much more skully here. awesome

Looking Bossly! :woot:

Still not crazy about his look. I echo wanting to keep Grillo around for future films though.

What kind of look do you want? I dont get the complaint. what should he look like? Spandex and a skimask?

had his suit been short sleeved i think it would've been absolutely perfect
as it is, it's only really damn good

I think its great. It has a military look with a Mad Max touch via the skull mask and hydraulic fists

I think that the costume actually looks a bit on the cheap side. Which, to be fair, I suspect Crossbones will at best amount to "unfinished business" fromTWS that gets wrapped up quickly and gets the ball rolling towards the meat of the plot so expecting a lot of time and money as compared to Bucky, Cap or Falcon's suits shouldn't be expected. I dislike the "paintball armor" look of it and I don't care for the mask. And I honestly am not a fan of the "Cap slippers" either. Grillo was great in TWS as a really ruthless guy, and even if he's not quite the beast CB is from the comics I would have preferred if at least the mask was evocative of his comic look. Crossbones wasn't big on "spandex" in the books when he was introduced and if you look at his gear in the actual Brubaker run there is nothing in that look that to my mind wouldn't have translated well to my eyes.

Once again though, I like Grillo in the part and expect him to continue that here. Just not crazy about the look.

Crossbones has been a fave Cap antagonist of mine since the Grunewald days. I recommend to anyone to go out and find the old comics to see what I'm talking about, especially the STREETS OF POISON arc. You get Cap facing off against Bullseye and Crossbones, Crossbones fighting Bullseye (great fight) and Red Skull fighting the Kingpin hand to hand. Lots of fun. Crossbones as I said was a beast.

Yeah but this is the MCU and theyre not gonna replicate everything exactly from the comics.

I personally think he looks really cool. But its really about how he comes across in live action. Its still possible to create a very intense performance even if the look of his suit doesnt please everyone. Thats the most important thing anyway. Its not about getting his suit exactly right. Also hesnot a really well known character for most people, so noone but the hardcore geeks are gonna get picky about it.

And... There is nothing in my posts that says any of that. I am well aware of the fact that this is an adaptation and that we won't always get looks that closely mirror the books. I believe I mentioned twice that Grillo is good in the part as it is in the MCU, and that he was as ruthless as befits the character. But for MYSELF, not suggesting it as a FACT, I would have preferred it be a costume that was closer to the comics this long time "geek" has always liked and enjoyed from the comics. You aren't "wrong" for liking the look. I'm not "right" for wanting it to be much closer to my own druthers. This is inno way a knock on the film or it's fans/supporters, especially since as a long time Cap fan I am very excited to see a film that has: Cap, Falcon, Crossbones, Zemo and Sharon Carter all in action TOGETHER.

I simply am not a fan of this look.

What does he look like in the comic version? How different is it? Id like to know because I havent read those comics.

Short sleeves just make it easier for Cap to slice Crossbone's arms off. Crossbones needs all the protection and weaponry he can get. :oldrazz:

well he does have those hydraulic fist weapons, so i dont know what short sleeves would do. thats pretty minor stuff. you either like the mcu version or you dont. i like it and think itll be badass onscreen

Again, I just would have preferred something closer to this than what was done is all. I'm sure your druthers is that the MCU version is superior. That's fine. As someone that read the books for years I just have my own druthers and don't think it would have been hard to get a real world look similar to this at all. But we have what we have and as I said I am expecting the meat of the story to not have all that much Crossbones any way. I can deal.

Thing is, for myself, I am not seeing the "badassery" other that like the design do. It just looks a bit on the silly side right now, and I don't even think seeing it in action will mitigate that for me. We have seen the costume close up, full body, ect. and... I just wouldn't be scared of that guy. It's not all that imposing a look me.

As I said though, it's a minor reservation all things considered.

He actually looks pretty much like the comic version, except for no cloth skimask (which isnt realistic if youre in battle getting shot at or fighting super heroes like Cap) and the pronounced bones design (which would be a little too on the money in real life).

Yeah I dont buy that nitpick complaint. We're just getting a live action/grounded Crossbones not a literal comic strip version. That was never gonna happen anyway. You have to judge it based on the MCU terms and how it relates to who Brock Rumlow is and what hes about.

Youre allowed to not like it, I just think your grounds for doing so arent very realistic when you know that films dont duplicate most suits EXACTLY as they appear in comics.

The way I see it is now is that Rumlow has to go toe to toe against Cap he is going to need a lot of armour for protection.

I love the forearm gauntlet style bruisers he's wearing.

I'm starting to believe that Crossbones won't be making it past the first fifteen minutes of this movie, similar to Strucker.

Oh those quirky druthers.

Him and Falcon have some unfinished business, so that could be his exit.

Anyone else really enjoy the Crossbones/Cap fight? Played out more like one of the fights in the Winter Soldier.

Yeah, it was a decent fight. Rumlow had a personal beef so it made it better.

He's from the lower east side of nyc.

Anyone else absolutely love Crossbones in this like myself? Even though it was just for the opening fight scene. I really enjoyed him.
