Products Custom Superman Costume

I never meant to be rude, Damien... it's cool that you're getting a custom costume.

I'm jealous :p

I don't think typing skills is poor. It just you made a little mistake with the last name spelling. Sometime I get that way too. It's common, really. ;)

And kak has no problem with you. He just pointing out the little mistake. He's ok in my book. :word:

lol I was trying to be funny with a little sarcasm...doesn't translate well to typed text.

And yes I do have poor tying skills...seriously! 99% of the time when I type "the" it comes out "teh". At least I have progressed past the hunt and peck like when I first started playing with a keyboard :woot:

...and really...wasn't a misspell...I meant as in possesive...which would be what... Reeves'

lol I should call my mom and ask...she's a teacher.

You say kak is ok? ok. Most people on the SHH boards seem cool.
...VERY helpful when it comes to costume making =^)
...and some(ok most) seem to have odd sense of humour (which rocks)...seriously a thread for Mr. Muggles (on the Heroes board)...so dam funny

peace!

no no no...it's cool. I didn't take it as rude. (seriously I was like "oh crap I disrespected Christopher Reeve and a Supes fan!")

I'm kinda anal retentive and correct people with names myself...(having worked for AMC, Block Buster and Virgin Megastore...it just comes natural to me)

Don't be that jealous...I'm still not sure how to post pics yet. Does it need to be on photobucket first or something like that?

is imageshack something like photobucket? lol I guess I'm trying to ask, does teh pic need to be (lack of better term) "somewhere" and I just paste the url into my post?

(I'm really not as dumb as I seem...:csad: ...just when it comes to computers...I work with food)

If you see a picture on some site that you like, and want to post here.....you need to copy it to your computer, then have it hosted at a site like imageshack or photobucket.

If you just "hotlink" the picture from the other site to this one.....then occasionaly a problem occurs. Some sites really really hate for people to do this....and they have a way of making the picture you posted here, turn into a pornagraphic picture....thus getting you in trouble.

So.....always remember, copy to your computer, then have a picture hosting site host it for you.

no, you don't need photobucket to post pics...

www.imageshack.us works fine and dandy

I use photobucket & it's great. Both Photobucket & Image Shack are top notch for hosting pics. Not to mention they are free too. :word:

Never knew you would be jealous on something, kak. That is surely not you. :p :woot:

Thanks very much for the info guys.

The artist called me the other day and told me he's working on the chest \S/. He said my cape is done. I can't wait to bring it home and start working on how I strap it to me. Already have the idea in my head, just need to actually "do" it.

I went to the eye Dr and ordered some blue contacts with my perscription.

Still need to touch up my boots a little (where the sole meets the vinyl)...after that I should be good to go.

Well, pretty much got everything:
royal blue milliskin (gone to try to screen the diamonds on myself, materials not that expensive),
milliskin for the trunks (also going to try with the diamonds on these),
a nice pleather like material for the cape (will have to dye),
waiting for the wool I ordered to come in (for the cape lining)
have most of the supplies for the urethane items (belt, and insignia).
Now I just need time to complete it. I had hoped that I would have enough time to have it done by halloween but I now see that that is not
realistic (I will not rush this project just for the sake of wearing it in public).
Progress and pics will be posted as they are ready.:yay:

All in all, the materials didn't cost as much as you might think. Maybe a few hundred dollars for everything.

ok I bought these:

which turned into these:

(Halloween is coming - suit almost ready - I'm so excited - I'm such a dork - I feel like I'm 7)

-edit-

oh cool I posted pics.

Here's a link to a (bad) pic of me from like months ago...it's bad becuse I was 30# heavier, had to fight wicked hard to keep from laughing and plus it's just bad.

When it's done, it will have the \S/ (fornt & back), correct boots and a much better cape attachment.

Here's me in a Superman Returns costume...sorta. I'm a poor college student and this is all I can afford!

I forgot to mention I like the color. What type of dye did you use for the
red colors (if any) and/or what specifically was the color of red you used?

I was just wondering, does anyone know if anyone has ever made a Fleischer Superman costume with the yellow, red, and black \S/?

omg omg omg omg omg!!! I just got home with my suit. The yellow \S/ is a little bigger than I wanted...but it looks wicked awesome! I'm bummed as my room mate has friends over so I can't put it on and run around :cmad:
...well I could, but I know I would get my a double s beat.

So I'm off tomorrow so I can re-work the cape attachment.

wooo hooo yay me :woot:

Ok not totally finished yet...but here it is

ew my boots cracked a little...did I need a sealant of some kind? or did I get a bit too spray happy with the paint?

The suit looks awesome actually. But i just hate the big trunks...

What kind of paint did you use?

If it wasn't something MADE for vinyl, or plastic... they yes it would come off very easily.

looks sweet dude. i'd like to get a better look at the front emblem. i love the big cape emblem.

I've made a couple, but I sold them a while back. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it any more. I am thinking about doing another one for myself with darker colors.

Thanks JBrown.
I was kinda bummed that the cape emblem was so big. But I'm trying to look at it as I can just make another cape...maybe with the classic red. I fixed the cape by sewing it to a fabric belt. I had a plastic clasp thing for no reason which worked perfectly. I will take some close ups of the chest \S/.

About my boots cracking a little...I'm still thinking about buying a pair of Doc Martin's from Hot Topic (listed as cherry colored but look more like burgandy). I think they would go with my suit since it's not really "traditional".
