Maybe I'm being biased because I'm interning at the CW but I saw a sneak peek at the pilot and it turned out better then I thought it be. It will surely be a guilty pleasure for me this fall. I'm not all for vampire love stories in the least, I hate them, and the twilight saga. What I did love about this show was the suspense, the battle between good and evil, and the sub-plots involving the shows supporting cast. The show premieres Thursday September 10th at 8pm. Give it a shot.

I keep reading statements from the producers saying things about it not being like Twilight, when in look and judging from the boring ass narration from the main girl, it's probably going to be exactly like Twilight.

I'll be sure to skip it, thank you.

from my understanding this book was out before twilight. I had to watch this pilot since I work there. It's funny that the shows I thought I would like I hated, and the shows I thought I'd hate I found them somewhat amusing.

I heard/read some bad negative reviews regarding the Pilot showing at SDCC '09 but don't think that won't stop me from watching it....since I want to judge for myself.

"Vampire Diaries" isn't rehashed "Twilight," producer insists
CW wanted a vampire show in wake of the "Twilight" craze. And though the new series from "Dawson's Creek" creator Kevin Williamson is based on a book series that pre-dates "Twilight," he insists that "Diaries" isn't a ripoff. "The premise is the same — girl meets vampire — but once we're past that premise," he says. "Really quickly we're telling stories about a small town and who is this vampire who comes to town and stirs it up."

I'm sorry, but I dont buy that for a ****ing minute. Yeah, these books existed before Twilight, but from what I've seen, the tone is very similar.

I really don't care, CW shows are not made for me ... 28 year old straight male.

Sounds like part of the "Twilight craze". I'd rather just watch season 2 of Buffy.

Tonight's the night. So far it's ok. They're filming it a few miles up the road from me.

I kind of liked it, nothing groundbreaking but I'll stick with it.

another vampire show? Im sick of this latest trend showing up all over tv and in the movies

I think that's one of the things that could be a big problem for this show. I did however like this show better then Twilight but not as much as True Blood.

i saw bit and pieces of this show. This show made me love True Blood even more. The acting in Vampire diaries is sooooooooooo terrible.

I saw it. It was pretty alright for a pilot. I'll check out the next few and see where it leads. I read the first book, it was ok, but it looks like they are changing a lot.

I thought it was ok, but the pilot itself really didn't jump out at me. I'll give it a few more episodes. If not I'll be dropping it.

I havent seen the show yet, but does anyone remember the main vampire guy from the Fallen series on ABC family?

I havent seen twilight and never will, but from what i do know about it from the web and from what i observed during the segments i caught of this show waiting for supernatural, they are EXACTLY the same. Disgusting. This is Twilight: The tv series.

Viewer numbers are in:

"Vampire Diaries" ratings: They don't suck!"

This should make up for those lackluster Melrose Place numbers.
Vampire Diairies drew an impressive 4.84 million viewers in its debut last night, making it The CW’s most-watched premiere ever (even beating 90210 last year). Among females 18-34 (a.k.a. The CW’s sweet spot), it notched a strong 3.1 rating.
Preliminary ratings suggest the fifth season premiere of Supernatural didn’t fare as well, drawing (a still decent) 3.4 million viewers.

I know the CW is hoping these kinds of numbers hold so they can have a better rated show than Smallville.

oh by the way, did anyone notice that there are two actors from the WB show EVERWOOD on this show?

i came in expecting just one, but got another! yay

No, but I did notice that the WB is slowly getting every actress from Degrassi and putting them on their shows.
