Da Vinci’s Demons

Well you might recall, Magic City and Spartacus also got quick second season renewals.

In fact, Spartacus got renewed before the first episode even aired.

The second episode hooked me. Can't wait to see where this h
goes.

so, with no replies in this thread since 4/23, am i assuming that this show isn't that interesting?

So far I like the show. Interesting take on history. Like that all the characters are real life figures.

Tried watching this...I personally think its pretty terrible. Da Vanci's life was plenty interesting as it is, there's no need to totally destroy it for TV.

I don't see the problem. It's a fictionalized take on his life. It's a dark, edgy adventure series. Many of the characters in Spartacus were also based on real people, but the show likely had to play fast and loose with history as well to make it more narratively compelling.

Assassin's Creed had Leonardo Da Vinci as an ally of the Assassin's Guild. Did that destroy his life for a video game? No it's a freaking fictionalized story. What if Da Vinci was a member of the Assassin's Guild.

Also, liked the cameo by Torquemada this week.

Vlad was creepy as ****!!!:wow:

Wasn't Leonardo Da Vinci homosexual? Is it just me or does almost every new set piece show try to be cool and full of sex?

He is bi-sexual in the show. Heavily implied at least.

I tried to like this show but it really isn't very well directed; and the lead plus his side kicks are really annoying. The only interesting character is the popes right hand man (the guy who had the other key).

Has this been renewed for a second season?

It's been renewed for a second season since I think before the second episode aired. And I've always thought Leonardo was historically believed to be bisexual. There is enough evidence to speculate it but not enough to outright know for certain what his preferences were.

I enjoyed the show. Was not expecting it to only have 8 episodes this season though.

huh, implied, if they wanted him as a playboy persona then there were many other artists they could have taken.

Not really. Da Vinci sketched all kinds of military tech and tech in general that was beyond his time. He fits perfectly for a series like this. Who else would they pick? Van Gogh lol? Honestly who cares? Its fiction. Da Vinci lived in Italy during the Reinnassance. I'm sure he got around. And this was a man involved in grave robbing to advance anatomical study and someone who was very curious about human reproduction so making him a playboy is hardly risque or even controversial compared to the things we know he did.

He isn't even a playboy in this series. No more than any typical 20 something year old with a nightlife would be.

With both:cwink: I just don't believe a man back then in that city with an interest in both sex's anatomy never once slept with a woman. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Bisexuality has been common in human culture for thousands of years even among men who preferred men above women. Its not like we have records of his every move and action.

And this is fiction and on stars if you all were expecting only man on man with out protagonist youre forgetting the network and the times we live in. License had to be taken and this is hardly some great deviation from an already vague history. If they had made him straight only then I might could get behind the complaints.

Still the way the show make his sexual relationships with women much more comon is proof that they did so because they don't think people would find it as interesting if a man was portrayed instead of a woman as his romantic interest. Fiction or not tthat's like making a show where Henry VIII of England is bissexual.

That's a pretty inaccurate comparison. Unlike Da Vinci, Henry was straight.

I'm liking the second season more than the first.

Lara Pulver. :hrt:

Is this show worth watching?

I'm kind of wary of anything that David Goyer has touched (/written), let alone created, so I don't know. It looks/sounds interesting though.
