Murphy returns for third “Daddy” installment
Source: Media Freak
July 21, 2008

Revolution Studios has announced its interest in continuing the “Daddy” franchise with a third installment which has been tentatively entitled Daddy Day Cruise.

Eddie Murphy, who was absent from the film’s first sequel, will be reprising the movie’s title role as Charlie Hinton, the day care’s co-founder.

Murphy was quoted, “All I know about this one is that it’s gonna be different. We’re heading in a different direction. I understand what they were trying to do with the sequel, but we’re really amping it up this time around. We’re going back to its roots, but with a twist.”

The film’s supporting role of Phil Ryerson (originally played by Jeff Garlin) is still not yet confirmed, but there are talks of Lawrence Guterman (Cats and Dogs, Son of the Mask) having extreme interest in directing the third film.

Daddy Day Cruise once again follows stay at home dad Charlie Hinton, the co-founder of Daddy Day Care. When Charlie’s wife, Kim, wants a little break from her husband’s up and coming business, she asks him to take her and their son on a cruise to get Charlie’s mind off all his work. Unable to abandon his day care kids, Charlie is forced to bend some rules and bring along the whole day care as well.

The “Daddy” movies have made a total of $110 million with this one having an expected release date of fall 2009.

Alright, now I just feel bad for the guy. He keeps getting stuck with all these crappy movies. I just know and hope it bombes, sad to say. If only they gave him a good film to work with, these are just not good.

I thought Tom Cruise was about to make the second biggest mistake of his life.

Eddie Murphy needs to retire now.

Damn, the first was okay but the second sucked & it bombed. Why do another? Murphy needs to start doing some non-kiddie movies.

Can't say much about a movie that's not out yet.

The first Daddy Day Care, as I REMEMBER, wasn't totally worthless for what it was. Daddy Day Camp, I never saw, so I can't say anything about that.

The only weird thing is WHY would they try to do this, knowing how little the last two movies made at the BO. I have no idea what the studio is thinking here...

yea murphy needs to change gears and go for some different types of movies and get out of the kiddie flick stuff he only been good recently in the sherk films the rest of his recent films have sucked. He need to go back to his old school stuff like beverly hills cop/coming to america era of work.

Does Murphy actually go after these movies or are these the only ones he can get? Yikes.

haha, okay, now im not totally sure, but im pretty sure that this is just a joke. read the spoiler. try and click the link to "Media Freaks" or any of the links for that matter. Oh jester, you crafty crafty hooligan. ;)

I know this is just a movie, but if I had a kid, and he took him on a cruise I would hunt him down and hurt him. This movie is stupid!

I thought he promised to retire. :(

Wait, what? Seriously? Serenity can't get one sequel and this s#!t gets a TRILOGY?!?!?!

I've officially lost my faith in humanity. :csad:

WoW. I have a feelin' in a few years we'll be seeing him in the Saturday nite Sci-fi channel movie. So sad.

Lol.:word:

Did someone make a deal with Satan or something?

WTF this guy gets to make bomb after bomb sh*** movies after sh**** movies, this thing is getting a triology, yet the Hulk may not get a sequel!

what the hell has happened to his career?

He's going through the same thing that has plagued other 80's comedic actors (Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd). At least Bill Murray hooked up with Wes Anderson, which revived his career.

Hey guys, maybe Eddie isn't getting called in for good movies anymore, maybe family movies are the only jobs he can get. Hollywood isn't kind to veteran actors unless said actors have their own studios or is writing/producing. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how it seems.

...wow. Seriously, what was the last good movie he's plaid in?

Dreamgirls (was good) and the First Shrek (was decent) and that's about it.

You know...I was just thinking about something. Maybe the reason he can't get GOOD work in hollywood right now isn't so much due to typecasting or poor choices...but maybe it's because of his personality and his connection to the 80's and 90's. I know when I see Eddie Murphy, he always sort of screams "the 90's!" for me...so, in a way maybe he's generationally-cast.

Eddie Murphy isnt so much an actor now as he is a great big joke. :down

And not even a funny one, at that...

Way to follow up the BO bomb "Meet Dave" with the 2nd sequel of "Day Day Care".

I guess Murphy just wants a bigger bomb to eclipse "Pluto Nash".
