I think the outfit she wore at the end of TFA is nice. I'd be fine if that was her standard look going forward as a Jedi.

I love the look, but I think she'll change it. Like how Luke didn't where his black shirt/yellow jacket look outside of that last scene in ANH (I know he did in the comics, but not the movies).

Depends if she brought a change of clothes to the island. :o

Did y'all notice that Luke's white shirt at the end of TFA is the same design as his black shirt in ROTJ? Pretty neat.

And that his robe is actually sown to the shoulder areas of the shirt so that robe won't fall off and doesn't require sleeves.

I'm sure they'll change Rey's look if for no other reason than to move more toys.

get ready for Glow-In-the-Dark Neon Battle Maiden Rey.

(complete with Force Missile Projectile action)

lols. :p

I wonder if we'll see Rey with her hair down or something...

Like how we saw Leia with her hair down in ROTJ at the end during the celebration at the Ewok village.

Poe should have a goatee...;)

btw, I watched Looper and I gotta say, I am pumped for VIII. I feel this movie is by far my favorite thus far in terms of dealing with time travel and stuff..not to say that SW VIII will have time travel since neither of the other films dealt with time travel but you'll never know...

Yeah, it's awesome. So much so that when they finally showed Luke I found myself wishing I had one exactly like it. It's boss. :woot:

About the "Luke mind wiped Rey" theory...
Is human mind wipe method a canon thing at this point?
I am not a lore master in SW, and only remember reading it in some EU novels.

For those of you who have seen the movie Looper, how would you feel if time travel played a role in the new trilogy in some way? I dunno, the idea is interesting if the execution is done right. I've done a bit of research where it has been done in other media but not formally in the movies themselves.

I was doing some thinking about how the idea of time travel could work...in a sense, without having to rip-off other movies like for example, the Terminator ones where you got a young soldier being sent back into the past to protect a certain woman from the terminator. the whole idea for the soldier to go back in time was to ensure that the mother doesn't die and therefore, as the story goes, he falls in love with her and she gets knocked up with a kid who ends up being the future resistance leader against the machines.

I don't think anyone wants to see that sort of story line where well lets see here, what if someone gets sent through time to the past to kill Anakin when he was born or whatever, or if that someone is on a mission to kill Shmi to prevent her from giving birth? well to me, I don't think I want that. Anakin, to me, is more of a victim than what people make him out to be...where he was lost and confused. While he is just as much to blame of the deeds he did whether for good or evil, let's not forget that it was Palpatine himself who was stirring the pot behind the curtains. He started it after all from the very beginning to get what he wanted so he can rise to power and play with the people around him inside their minds and hearts. He was literally pulling the strings so really, depending on how you look at it, he's the main real baddie - the monster!

Anakin was ....well he was just stuck in the middle with no way out of what he felt he could do - whether it was the right thing to do or not. I feel he knew what he was doing at the time and that if he did those things, Palpatine would give him what he promised...well look how that turned out? :( Anakin lost quite a lot of his humanity because of his choices that reflected on what Palpatine wanted him to do for him and therefore, Palpatine was using Anakin for his own personal gain. You would think Anakin would be smart enough to know what he had the strength to do...and that was to not trust Palpatine. But of course Palpatine always found away to manipulate him into trusting him so...*sighs*

Anyway, getting back to the idea of time travel...what if the resistance sends someone back through time to the time before Palpatine rose to power in order for that person to stop him...? Again, it would really change the entire timeline considerably...like, if they succeeded to kill Palpatine, Anakin would cease to exist as a Jedi and become Darth Vader...and so on and forth. lol. So I can see why a lot of ppl would be against the whole time travel thing..but ...let's say...

Rey gets sent through time to the past but ends up in the wrong time line...say during the Clone Wars era or whatever...and she can't get back to the present future. So somehow, she has to find a way to get back to her time line...or how about she's not alone...like say Poe and BB-8 are with her...and Finn ends up being the one to kind of save them but somehow, it's Rey who figures out to get them back to the right time line...where a time portal of some kind appears and they have no choice but to jump through it...

I dunno, its just an idea...but then again, even if time travel does get introduced in a future SW movie, I can't see anyone try to attempt to send a certain someone back into the past. I'd rather they go forward into the future or something. I'd rather they just leave the past alone as it is...if they try to change it any way, it would upset alot of fans who feel that time travel will only muck up the existing SW time line and like me, I don't think I'd be okay with that. Either way, it would make the PT, OT and ST and anything in between the movies and trilogies very different than what exists today...to an extent.

What do you think??

Well... case in point. I thought it was something I could just throw out there and let others decide if or not it could be done in some form so to speak. Not saying that oh I want it to happen. Cause really, I don't think to an extent, time travel will work in a SW movie or any future SW movie. But considering that Rian Johnson is directing and well, has been writing the script for VIII, don't you think maybe just maybe, subtle or not, he'll pull a 'looper' twist? lols. I dunno. It's highly unlikely that just because Looper was so damn good because of how Rian used the concept of Time Travel, it may not even work in the same manner in a SW movie as a whole. Just saying. I know TT will tick off a lot of fans...I mean I am one of those people who are kinda like in between where I'd rather just wait until the trailer comes out and once we see more footage of VIII, then I will decide what's good and what isn't. or whatever. It's a little too early to tell what VIII is going to be like so...sadly, we have pretty much a year and a half to go until we saw a teaser trailer hopefully in May of 2017 in relation to Star Wars being 40 years old...

hard to believe that Star Wars will be 40 next may :)

Neither JJ Abrams or Rian Johnson were able to make time travel make sense, so let's just keep it the hell out of Star Wars.

Ok then. But just keep in mind that I was curious if anyone else had any thought on the concept. Not saying that is what I would have like to see. If it works in other films...it doesn't mean it's going to work in other films too like star wars for example.

Anyway...moving along...I've been reading about these crazy stupid theories that rey could be the granddaughter of Palpatine. ...like yuck...what woman would want to...let a evil wrinkled up emperor get down with her? Lol. Makes me shudder at the thoughts I don't wanna have.

maybe not a granddaughter of Palps, but a clone perhaps?

He's the Emperor. She wouldn't have any say in the matter.

Yeah somehow I don't think that her being related/connected to HIM of all people would be the "deeply and profoundly satisfying" explanation that Colin Trevorrow was talking about.

More like "infuriating and annoying."

I certainly have thought of the time travel idea. Especially if Lucas doesn't shut his mouth and keeps railing against Disney. If I were Kathy or Bob Iger I'd be tempted to take the gloves off and retcon his precious (and terrible) prequels in some way.

I agree that it's better to just keep moving forward with this storyline that is far better than anything Lucas would've created.

What's funny is her being his granddaughter doesn't rule out Luke being her father, also the idea that Luke hooked up with Sheev's daughter after he destroyed Sheev's empire would be satisfying because in a way Luke got the last laugh. :yay:

So, that Rebel helmet Rey wore to her dinner...

Did she take that from a dead body? I mean Jakku was a war zone, and it's not like a pilot's gonna be dropping his helmet out of a window or land at some point. Did Rey one day just say to herself, "The helmet on this scorched carcass looks super dope, it's mine now."

That's cold-hearted.

It's explained like this in Rey's Survival Guide.

Rey said:
I have an old rebel helmet I've kept around - one of the first things I ever found scrounging the Graveyard. The name on it says Captain Dosmit Raeh.
Rey said:
When I was a kid, I liked to make up stories about Captain Raeh - about who she was and what planet she might have come from. That's why I made a doll out of a flight uniform I found in a cargo container.

And also the TFA Visual Dictionary (by Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo).

X-wing pilot helmet once belonging to Captain Dosmit Raeh of the Tierfon Yellow Aces
Rey crafted [an] Alliance pilot doll when she was 10 years old, from debris she found in the junkfields.

Pablo Hidalgo said:
It's an interesting line of speculation [that Rey named herself after Dosmit Raeh], but nothing conclusive has been said one way or another.

I was almost tempted to pick up the Rey's survival guide book...is it worth it? I always wondered about the rebel helmet and who the pilot was...although, I knew just what you posted like a month ago. Very interesting stuff. I can't wait until we learn more about Rey's origins. :)
