Drama Damien Chazelle’s Babylon

I thought Tobey was Charlie Chaplin?

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think they’re all versions of real people, but names changed and such so they can go in any direction they want and not get the Twitter mob on them.

Oh didn’t know that…

Margot and Pitt have the best roles. Pitt will be hard to ignore for them award noms, even with folks trying to cancel him. He'd be supporting, but with his charm and coolness/charisma, especially his last scene, so much damn bait.

So it's King Chazelle vs King Spielberg.

The board is set.

I wonder if David O. Russell is releasing his giant ensamble movie too soon.

That cast alone won't save that ship. Early tea on the script ain't good, fam. We shall see, as he likes to rewrite everything, but it felt like a bad Coen Bros movie wannabe. I will still watch it of course. Margot with dark hair is my jam.

Isn't that most of his filmography? Can't say I'm surprised there.

In a weak year, maybe? But I can't see the Academy going for him now, especially since he won so recently, so there's no pressure to "give him his due." Look how fast Franco dropped out of consideration a few years back when news of his predatory actions broke. They ain't about to pull another Affleck.

I don't really get the reasoning here - Like, is he trying to do a Tarantino-style "re-imagining" of history? Why else change the names? Doesn't make sense.

Bald sir or bald madam, I never said he will win, but bet your butt that he will be nominated. We can make any charity bet that you seem fit.

Good trailer but no idea what the movie is about

Looks good, I'm going to see it, but the genre of Hollywood movies about Hollywood are getting samey. Maybe it's just me though.

Wow. The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel looks nuts!

But on the real, I'll be seeing this for sure. Who doesn't want to see Margot Robbie fight a snake?

Looks good but haven't really loved any of Damien Chazelle's films since Whiplash.

This looks WAAAAY different than I thought it would.

I swear to god this entire time I thought we were getting a classy 1920’s film possibly in black and white (lmao) with images of Margot showing up at premieres and working on set.

I watch this trailer and...oh yeah?

Is this Cliff Booth’s dream the night he smoked that acid cigarette?

Kind of refreshing to show that Hollywood was always toxic and shallow. Maybe even more so in the "classy" 1920s lol

I’m getting Lurhmann Elvis vibes. I hope this won’t be all style and no substance.

Not everything needs to have substance if it’s fun and the style is great. But Chazelle’s last 3 all had substance no matter the genre so it wouldn’t surprise if Babylon is the same.

It does indeed look like a mash-up of OUTIH and WOWS, a so a little more... familiar than I was expecting. Fortunately though I love both those movies, so I'm there.
