Ant-Man Dammit, Janet! The official Wasp thread

I'm just exploring possibilities. Why can't Lang be the illegitimate son of Pym and Janet? That way we can still get Janet and Pym in some form

What, Michael Douglas can't have a younger Janet love interest? May-December, folks. We're thinking outside of the box here, so let's please continue to do so.

That's not too far from the comics really, Janet looked at Hank as someone who reminded her of her Dad, and Hank was reminded of his first love/wife Maria when he looked at Janet, IIRC.

More January-December as old as Douglas looks.

Honestly, Douglas is looking pretty good for recovering from throat cancer, and nearing 70.

Perhaps Janet won't be his love interest in this movie. She is a good enough character to be interesting without having to be arm candy. Heck, she doesn't even need to be Pym's love interest for him to want to give her powers. Maybe she's his protégé/confidant for example, or maybe she's related to him in some way. There are other ways to do this without the two having to be a couple.

I posted this somewhere else, but could Janet be trapped in the microverse.. do people age there? that could be reason for Pym going crazy or retiring

I still like the idea of "trapped in the microverse," but it doesn't look like Hank Pym, in particular, will face that problem. Pym grew to be an old man in modern times; that much is now obvious. But yeah, you could work that angle on a still-young Janet trapped in the microverse. Only problem is that it creates yet another "hero/villain out of time," and audiences will most likely have gotten their fill of that particular trope by the time CATWS has trotted out all half a dozen or so of them.

I meant for janet.. trapped and not aging, but reappears to join the avengers

now latino review are saying that johnny depp is in talks to play dr. strange.. its not from elmaybe.. so it might be true

I'll wait for further confirmation, but if it's true, this day just keeps getting better and better in casting news. :word:

From the paper that rumor was printed on to the Almighty's eyes!!! Please save this disastrous day with such perfect casting for Strange!

She'll probably be Lang's girlfriend. And hoo boy people are gonna throw quite the stink about that

What if she was Lang's mom and Pym's girlfriend from the 1960's?

Slightly convoluted idea, but I think this works... Pym and Janet are a couple of undercover superhero operatives in the 60's. Possibly working for SHIELD. Go full-Watchmen here.

They have a daughter (played by Rashida Jones) who Lang falls for during the course of the movie, who can subsequently take up the mantle of Wasp to pay homage to her mom. She wouldn't even need to go full-superhero in this movie. Just hint at it... which is what Wright alluded to in one of his interviews.

Oh, just struck me that in this scenario, the original Wasp would then be played by a black woman. I'm liking this idea more and more. :)

Or she's Rashida Jones and is Rudd's love interest.

Or, she's Catherine Zeta Jones and is Douglas' love interest. :o

I want my Mike 'n' Catherine fantasy couple, dammit. Hollywood would fall in love with this movie for that concept alone.

But yeah, I'm still perfectly okay with Rashida playing Rudd's love interest. Maybe she could play Dr. Erica Sondheim, the doctor who ultimately saved Cassie Lang's life.

A couple of other popular fancasts for an older Jan I've seen on the interwebs today: Demi Moore (51) and Jamie Lee Curtis (55). I like it.

Go ahead, let the coronaries commence. I'll get the popcorn.

Or… how about switch it up a little bit. Get Pam Grier to play a 60-70's Wasp and Hank's first wife, then she passes down the mantle to Rashida Jones who plays her daughter, Jan. Nobody does badass female from the 70's like Pam Grier.

I hate that I'm so thoroughly stuck on Rashida as Jan but LOVE HER GAH!!! I want her to be a thing that happens in this movie.

I do, too.

In fact, I'm more concerned with Wasp getting into the MCU than I am Hank Pym or Scott Lang....Widow and the Witch are great, but this is still largely a sausagefest.

Jan *definitely* needs to get into the MCU, and into the Avengers as a proper superheroine. Whether they make her Hank's wife, or daughter, or totally unrelated and unattached to him, and whatever age or ethnicity they choose for her....I'll be okay with it.

We just need Wasp. Period.

OK. Maybe she is Pym's Ex-wife and is currently dating Lang?
