Ant-Man Dammit, Janet! The official Wasp thread

She's probably been mentioned before and I know she's mostly on TV, so howzabout the lovely Autumn Reeser? Sorry there are so many high quality photos of her and trying to find the smallest photo was a tough one lol! :)

She has been mentioned before, and she's a choice I'd definitely support because she's perfect for it, really...but I'm sure they won't be going with such an unknown for this role.

I think Anna Kendrick is the most likely candidate for multiple reasons, and I'd be perfectly happy with that choice as well.

Ah well if not Wasp, then Scarlet Witch! ;)

Has anybody got any power displays that they want to see Wasp do?

I'd love this:

/crossesfingers for Wasp! I don't think I'll care who they pick, as long as she is sweeeeeet.

It seems like many fans see the movie version portraid by comedy oriented actresses

I havent read Avengers comics with Wasp, appart from The Ultimates, but Id preffer an actress in the line of Scarlet Johanson, in terms of look and presence, instead of a more "familiar looking" actress.

That would be all wrong for Janet, imo, and would miss out on the best opportunity to date for an MCU love interest with real personality. Peggy and Pepper were fine, but Janet has the potential to be the most fun and memorable MCU "love interest" yet (to the point of being a beloved character in her own right), and though I like Scarlett, casting someone with her type of presence would essentially squash that potential, imo.

Im not a huge fan, but MEW seems like a good fit for this.

she's been demoted to "love interest" now?

Well the movie's not called "Wasp." :p

But no, I agree. She should be a memorable character in her own right. More so than even Peggy and Pepper, since she'll be an Avenger herself. That's not gonna happen if they zap her of the distinctive personality that's made her so endearing in comics/cartoons. And a Scarlett-like presence would do that, imo.

ok, fair enough. i don't want an imitation Scarlett either.

She's my top choice for the role and has the lovely, bubbly personality for it as well as the look. There are some pics on google where her hairstyle looks completely classic comic Wasp.

But if people want a really fresh face who is still bubbly, then how about the mother from HIMYM, Cristin Milioti?

I don't watch HIMYM anymore, but she was so brilliant on the one episode of 30 Rock she guest-starred on that she had some people thinking her character was actually played by 2 different people. Like, it was an actual debate at TWOP, lol. That certainly suggests talent.

She's a broadway actress who was nominated for a Tony award and (not that this is relevant to the role) has a terrific singing voice somewhat reminiscent of Regina Spektor.

no worries, you aren't missing anything haha. Got to see the mother, but the show has been pretty stale the last few seasons imo.

Oh wait, is she the girl from Once?! If so, my theory is confirmed - she IS talented! :woot:

Yeah, nothing I've heard in the last couple of years has made me regret the decision to drop it, sadly.

Yes she is the girl from Once. She looks like a young Alyson Hannigan mixed with Jennifer Love Hewitt and according to some people, mixed with Cobie Smulders as well.

I mostly keep up with it because I hate quitting a show halfway through, and I also love NPH and Jason Segal being hilarious most of the time, and to an extent Ted can be funny sometimes too :)

I know what you mean. I do still watch random episodes in syndication when nothing else is on, and I generally enjoy them. Just not enough to make it appointment TV anymore.

I watch it less for the humour these days (because the last season hasn't been very funny) but just because I relate to Ted and want to see him meet the mother and find happiness. So yeah, I guess I now kind of watch it for one of the reasons women might watch rom coms - the romantic angle... because I'm invested in the story and want to see what happens. Plus they've revealed the mother now and have said that the final season will be very different from all the others. But it has admittedly really dragged this past year.

i'd like to thank Dark Raven for ruining the season finale of HIMYM for me,

spoiler tags

You aren't spoiled, the 'mother' adds nothing to the season finale other than the fact that we see who she is, no one has met her yet and she isn't involved into the plot. If you want to know exactly: [BLACKOUT]we see her for the last 5 seconds first the boots and yellow umbrella, then her face asking for a ticket to Farhampton, then cut to credits.[/BLACKOUT]

um.... don't tell me whether i'm it was spoiled or not for me

i've seen the episode now and that was 8 years worth of buildup and a big reveal, so yeah it was spoiled, i like the fact you used spoiler tags but dark raven couldn't have that courtesy.

we use spoiler tags for weeks after a movie's come out, but 2 days after an 8 yr old mystery is revealed and someone spoils it.

I understand but knowing that the mother was going to be in the episode isn't really a spoiler because it had nothing to do *with* the episode itself. But I understand your displeasure with seeing that information in a place you wouldn't have expected so sorry about that man.

On a side note, I hope she's good next season and adds to the chemistry of the group if they decide to let Ted meet her early in the season and have her become a show regular for the last season.
