Drama Damon Lindelof Developing The Leftovers at HBO

The truck was from the company Loved Ones, they make bodies for people so they can have funerals for the departures. It looks like they just redress dead people though.

Finally caught up on this, damn good television.

I'm pretty sure that was the same company that called Tom's phone when he was at the bus stop. Christine took it as something she either saw in a dream or something Wayne had told her. Maybe even both.

Oh, right, right. I remember now the ads from the TV. I guess I thought they were just making busts or something, lol. Not whole bodies. :)

Jesus that stoning scene in the beginning of the new ep was brutal

Yeah it was.

I'm really loving this show. I've been reading some of the comments on the shows Facebook posts and some people really drive me nuts with the "Oh, I want to like this show but I don't understand what's going on..."

:down There's nothing to f**king understand. This is a show about post Rapture world and how it's affecting people it their everyday lives move on. It's 100% character driven. For the people looking for some great big reveal, you're going to be majorly disappointed.

Yeah theres not much to get. This show isnt a mystery about why the disappearing happened, it's about everyone dealing.

That being said, I'm mixed on the show. It's not good enough for me to recommend it to anybody but not bad enough for me to stop watching.

I think everything involving Chief Garvey and the police/Mayor is great and interesting. Justin Theoreux is really good. The priest in interesting too.

But other than that Im just not interested or just plain bored with the stuff with the daughter, the son and his cult, and the GR. The GR is far too annoying. i know we're not supposed to like them, like most antogistic forces in movies, shows, etc. but for me they crossed the line of being intended to be unlikeable to just grating and bothersome.

I'll continue to watch because I am still pretty curious about what goes on and there are a decent amount of good moments.

Also: How long do you guys think until Garvey bangs Jill's friend?

I read somewhere that they are planning on continuously ratcheting up the sexual tension between them. Judging by the previews, it seems like he hooks up with Nora soon. I've got this feeling that it's all building to either Garvey having a major nervous breakdown or his ex wife Laurie getting killed....or both.

Jesus christ, god tier episode. So so interesting, especially the situation with Laurie progressing and that thing with the bodies. The phone call was chilling and it got me confused a bit, the agent talking about infestation? (probably that the GR is considered an infestation, but still, that was weird) and the tone of his voice changing completely towards the end of the call.

Theroux is just slaying it, underrated performance.

I'm wondering if he already did. Who was he cheating on his wife with?

We never learned about it, we just saw the quick 4 sec flashback, we don't see who the girl is, however, it is weird that she just sleeps in the house like that & she was in his dream as well, so yeah.

She keeps looking at him so expectantly, like she is waiting for him to acknowledge it or something. If not her, then I have no clue.

Either that or whoever he was with Raptured as they were doing it.

Could be. :)

EDIT: I keep thinking about how awkward that might have been. You are just about there, approaching bliss and then poof, now you're alone. :( Like, I wasn't THAT bad was I? :p

I feel like a horrible person but I was cheering when they stoned that old b**ch. I couldn't help it. After she just walked right past that poor guy who appeared to be having a heart attack, I was hoping something awful would happen to her.

I believe that she was taken in by the Garvey's. I don't know if that means her family were one of the departed.

I think he said that the woman he was with did disappear in his conversation with Nora at the school. I remember something to the effect of Nora saying her husband cheated on her and he was taken and Garvey admitted the same happened with him, as a way of them admitting what Matt and the GR are already saying, that the departed were no better than them.

I know what you mean but when she started begging for her life I felt awful. :(

This show nails you hard in the feels. Lindelof knows how to produce some powerful stuff, haters be damned.

It takes guts to have that opening scene shot in such a way, they showed everything, the impact of the rocks on her face, absolutely brutal & visceral.

I felt that way too at the beginning when she was just being dragged and tied but I can't help but feel so bad for her when they started stoning her... :(

The ATF is the ones that raided the ranch in the 2nd episode and just straight murdered everyone. That's what he was asking if Garvey wanted, if he gave them the go ahead they would have a team raid them, kill everyone and then send the body to their "forensics lab" which was just them burning bodies. For some reason the ATF is just killing any cults or weird religious stuff.

I def feel like Garvey is losing his mind though, there was that scene were it looked like his house got broke into and nothing got said of it, then the thing with the shirts last night. Plus his dad has already been shown to be schizophrenic or something and that runs in the family. Also did anyone else see that bad ass tattoo on Garvey's back? Most police chiefs don't have giant, awesome black and grey murals on their back. I wonder if they will tell us more about it?

I agree with this. I mean, those weren't really his shirts, right? He scared the guy into giving him whatever was on the line I think. :(

What if they weren't even the right size after all that? :( (I was thinking someone from the GR took his shirts when they took the photos because they were white.)

I thought the shirts were either taken by the GR when they were taking the photographs at the last episode or... his daughter's friend has been taking and using them. :funny: I was half expecting her to be in the hallway wearing nothing but his shirt.

This was the first episode I really enjoyed.

It is hard to tell if Garvey is hallucinating/developing a split personality like the Narrator in Fight Club or he isn't and everyone in the town is just really weird.

I can't say I'm really interested in Jill and Tom. Moping around isn't really an endearing or engaging character trait for me.

Eh, I haven't seen enough of it yet to judge. It's clear he's in love with her and she's preggo with Wayne's baby. That makes the child potentially the anti-Christ in some people's eyes in this post Rapture world and it could lead to a lot of action. I'm thinking they're storyline is being slowly set up for a major pay off.
