Dan Brown's Robert Langdon follow-up "The Lost Symbol"

wow you finished already?

the only brown book i read that fast i think was Digital Fortress

Eh Finished eariler. It was good but I think setting it entirely In Washington hindered what all he could do with the clues.

My Thoughts entirely, (Spoiler heavy)

Maybe it's just me, but the danger seemed way less serious than his previous books. I will admit I seriously thought Langdon was dead and that would end the series, Say what you want about Brown but he's good at suspense. I saw the Mal'akh=Zach Solomon thing coming pretty early on. EVERY brown book has a character in two roles. The Big "reveal" thing IMO was pretty weak too, he could've went in alot more directions with the Masons than just Man=God idea, though I'm ever thankful that at least Brown checks his facts and dates. Again, I think setting it entirely in Washington hurt the book, it felt limited and very contained even though it's longer than DVC.
Overall? 3.5/5

Here's another wallpaper I did for The Lost Symbol, this one is a big spoiler but only if you haven't gotten very far in the book. And yes I'm trying to get more traffic to my DA account so I'm going to post a link instead of just posting the image here :oldrazz:

I just finished this, and I have to say it's pretty good. Definitely the weaker of the three books, but still pretty good. A lot of the problems I had with the book are perfectly described below.

Adding to the danger seeming less serious, I think Mal'akh's threat to reveal the footage of the ritual was pretty weak and served no real relevance. He would have been able to reach his apotheosis without revealing that information, so it seemed like an excuse to have the CIA and Langdon on the run in the story.

Also, the revelation of the "Lost Word" was kind of underwhelming. For being such a vast secret, it seemed like a lot more complicated than it really was. Also, the whole "mind force" science wasn't terribly interesting compared to Antimatter.

Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was. Massive page turner that kept you guessing. I look forward to when the movie progresses. Also...

Katherine Solomon- Jennifer Connelly
Peter Solomon- Tom Amandes
Warren Bellamy- Morgan Freeman
Colin Galloway- Christopher Plummer
