So...instead of following up themes that are already in place. It's easier t just create something boring and generic?
And if that was really the case they should've kept junkie in and had Elfman be the sort of middle man between he and whedon. Or something i dunno....just...ahhhhhj this sucks.
Dude, we're talking about people, and not LEGO pieces. Someone like Danny Elfman would not just come in to be a "middle man".
And keep I'm mind, I'm a fan of Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL's music from
Man of Steel and
Batman V Superman, and I'm a fan of Snyder's last two movies, as well.
Whedon probably didn't see eye to eye with Junkie XL and brought in Danny Elfman as a replacement. And while he'll probably keep some of the previous themes, he's not just coming in to ape their work. He would probably be the first one to tell them that they should just get back Junkie XL if that's what they were looking for. Keep in mind that Elfman had a major falling out for a similar thing with Sam Raimi on "Spider-Man 2," as he refused to reuse Christopher Young's "Hellbound" theme and told him to get Young if that's what he wanted.
And it's Whedon who encouraged Elfman to use John Williams' themes, for example, so I wouldn't be surprised if he also encouraged him to just to his thing. Keep in mind that Warner Bros. has clearly tried to push this movie into a lighter direction, so this is probably has an effect on the score, as well.
I love the Superman and Batman themes from the last few movies, as well, and I hope they'll pop up somewhere in the score. But I also get that this is Danny Elfman's baby now. And unfortunately one he had to rush through to get made. But personally, I'm really relieved by how "Friends or Foes" sounds, because the "Heroes Theme" track was a tad underwhelming.
Just f***ing pay Zimmer $20m or something to finish this.
That's not really how it works. And Zimmer probably just sneezed into a million dollars today. So...
