Christian Bale starring in

The Machinist II

2008

I also like how when I get serious, and offer to debate anyone who thinks that actors dont use anabolics to change their bodies, the "This is stupid" posts start coming out, even though I am on the actor's side about the whole thing. I didn't mean to ruin anyone's idea about their favorite actor, Just trying to tell the truth here.

I wonder, do you think the guys in 300 used anabolics? Reading up on their workout routine it seems like they worked long enough to get their results without any chemical additives. Of course, they also had professional chefs to make them highly nutritional meals wich also helped.

He is really not looking Bruce Wayneish/Batmanish.

Oh well the power of movie magic.

Didn't Gerard Butler say he was training for 6 hours a day 5 days a week or something?

A normal person would overtrain by the second day, but someone on the juice/HGH could definitely handle that kind of volume.

Meals are boiled down into carbs, proteins, and fats. The list of quality foods is pretty narrow for each group and you can find these foods at any supermarket, so the argument that they got big b/c of professional chefs cooking them highly nutritional foods doesn't fly. A professional chef may make their foods tastier b/c of preparation and seasoning but they are still eating the same things any person serious about nutrition eats and can get at their local market - brown rice, lean protein, fish, olive oil, oatmeal, natural peanut butter, etc.

I lost 40 lbs in 3 months just by changing my eating habits. If I were to actually go to the gym for 30 minutes per day, I could be ripped again, but it does take some time to tone up doing it the right way.

I'm not saying every actor uses, I'm just saying it is way more common than any of us are lead to believe.
Did the guys in 300 use? I don't know. I wasn't familiar with them before they started. I know a lot of them had not trained at all before they got the roles, but they had plenty of time to do what they needed to do.
What most people don't realize is that muscle growth is muscle recovery. And yeah, training like that would get someone into the physiological state where they could not recover, especially if they had not trained before.
All I am saying is that it happens, and way more frequently than most would believe.

Whether Bale juiced or not is debatable. Any person who lifts weights regularly and has an awareness of physiology, nutrition, and training will tell you that its impossible to gain that much weight of lean muscle mass in that short a time without steroids.

So if he's going to gain 25 lbs of muscle in the next 2 weeks, either Bale has the most amazing genetics the world has ever seen or he's had some kind of pharmaceutical help to get there.
As a life-long athelete, and former steriod user, I can tell you that Bale's weight gain (and almost all H'wood body transformations similar to his) are done with the use of either HGH or anabolics. No two ways about it.
I am not being accusatory, as I don't have a problem with the use of chemical assistance at all, most people believe the lies told to you by your 8th grade health teacher that nothing good comes from their use, but that is a different thread for another day...
Remember, anabolics are legal, just not for muscle building.
I always laugh when I hear people talk about how easily a H'Wood doctor will prescribe multiple prescriptions for "stress" to someone like Anna N. Smith, but they absolutely don't think that an actor would go to the same doctor for anabolics. I't laughable, and you have your heads in the sand if you don't think it doesn't happen just about all the time.
Hollywood is chemically driven, whether its alcohol, illegal drugs, legal drugs used illegally, or any combination thereof.
Again, I have NO PROBLEM with Bale or anyone else using chemical assistance to change his body for a role, but if you want to debate it, I'm perfectly willing, as long as it stays a debate, and not name-calling.

i agree with you guys. although i'm not a health practioner i remember enough stuff from college to know that building up enough muscle mass comparative to where Bale was in BB cant be done this close to production without some kind of "aid"-- and even with that, it will take time. this isnt a mutated spider bite where one can get big overnight. also given that i've been a Bale fan for years i kinda know how he thinks by now, and the Bale man is a fan of cramming, so i honestly wouldnt be surprised if he's gonna go this route.

i distinctly remember Butler and some guys saying that they had to take something to lose the rest of the fat to really expose the lean muscle area, so again, even with months of training and proper nutrition, they still utilized some aids to get to the body we saw in the movie.

a guy who he a persona ltrainer once told me that if you want you can make the perfect training in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

he said to me that its idiotic to watch people in the gym for 3 hours.
he was 6 hours?
see thats idiotic.

Maybe he's going for the "American Psycho" physique more so than the "Begins" one.

We only saw his muscles twice, in the training scene and the morning after his first night as Batman. As long as he doesn't look skeletal, I couldn't care less.

Hurm...Bale is pretty thin.

Well, the Batsuit is padded, and as Wayne he wears suits, so I guess it's not SO bad.

Still...

Relax, he probably has a ton more stuntwork as well as more action scenes this time around so he's thinner by choice. He might have been a bit too bulky before, so this time, he's more prepared for the shoot.

Also, if any scenes in the film call to show his physique, they'll shoot those at the end of the shoot to give him time to bulk up some more.

Bale looks great.

Besides, shouldn't we be happy about having a great actor, rather than fussing about teh weight loss/or gain?

People really are panicking over nothing, this is Christian ****ing Bale! he will not let us down, just because he is more toned in this one doesn't mean hes going to suck... his hair has yet to be cut into the "Bruce Wayne cut" notice he hasn't shaved either?..

i don't think he has started filming yet.

Either that or Bruce Wayne has been doing further training in Alabama for the past couple of years and now he's back to make Gotham's criminal pay by giving them a country azz whuppin!

What ever the reason, he was rushed to get into shape for the last film, Perhaps this is the body he originally wanted to display, I also think it has to do with the fight training he has had, or even the design of the new Bat suit, if it is more stream lined, perhaps it has muscles in the suit.. what would be the point of him bulking up to a massive size..for it to be hidden in a rubber suit.

ok i know that this will sound crazy but who is complaining about bales weight?
fact is that he is smaller. and i only saw people saying that he is smaller.
i dont think that someone even complained about bale.

That's what I'm thinking too. Obviously he spent more time with TDK to prepare for the role, so my guess is that this is the physique he originally wanted.

Plus, he was losing weight all throughout the BB filming as mentioned by Lindy Hemming. These actors also pump up right before they go on camera so the increased blood volume in their muscles will make them look bigger.

the reason why they do this is so that hte musces look mro harder and the veins pop out.
it doesnt make them bigger.

I dunno about that. My arms cold are 17" and after working out they balloon up to 18". That's a full inch just from getting the pump. The pump makes you look bigger for a short period of time.

Actually dude, you're muscles do increase in size.. do about 20 push ups.. you shall see the difference.
