I guess this is from the Necro Butcher fight, can't wait for the trailer!

i can't wait for this flick. i still hope it plays locally. and the trailer tomorrow ^_^ hopefully online =D

actually, it was at a CZW show. the ROH show is the finale match against ernest miller.

^^^Good film? I read it's different from anything Aronofsky has ever done....might be tough to watch for some.

Yes, and indeed it is very different from any of his other films. It's filmed in more of a documentary style, gritty feel to it. Works really well for the story that's being told. I haven't read through this thread yet so I don't know what info has been stated from the Q&A's. Aronofsky said that Rowdy Roddy Piper was weeping in Rourkes arms after viewing it, he liked it that much. I do hope I have the right wrestlers name. :(

wow. that's awesome. piper, eh? that's cool. i hadn't heard that. but it adds to the assumption i have that it really gives good insight into the world of the wrestling business. this movie is gonna be great. i've been waiting for a good wrestling movie since i was a kid =)

This is on my Must-See list. I've been on a Rourke kick lately and I'm really hoping this gives Rourke the comeback he's so truly deserved since at least Sin City if not earlier (he stole The Pledge from Nicholson in under two minutes). He's one of the best actors around and it's truly a shame he ****ed up the way he did.

Piper said that finally his story has been told, so he really felt it was an accurate film.

Aronofsky said he had a hard time getting financial backing because no one had faith in Rourke. I'm glad I didn't know that before I saw the movie. :(

yeah, i remember hearin that. and that's why they were gonna go with cage. and the way i hear it, cage pulled out just because he knew aronofsky really wanted rourke. which is a pretty classy move.

and i remember hearing the casting switch and i thought "well wow, this movie just got a whole lot better." clearly, rourke fits the bill much better than cage.

Anyone know if Necro was barefoot for this movie? He usually wrestles barefoot.

yeah. necro butcher is necro butcher in this movie. but i think he's a heel in this. and he is most definitely barefoot. one of the first pages in this thread have videos of them filming the match

SPRINGSTEEN WROTE THE WRESTLER AFTER PERSONAL PLEA FROM MICKEY ROURKE

Bruce Springsteen's title song to forthcoming film The Wrestler was written after actor Mickey Rourke wrote the singer a personal letter.

The Wrestler, directed by Darren Aronofsky, stars Rourke as Randy “The Ram” Robinson, a faded professional wrestler attempting a comeback.

Speaking to Uncut, Rourke explains how he persuaded Springsteen to write the song, saying: "I wrote Bruce a letter, because we’ve known each other over twenty years, and he knows what I used to be, or whatever. Where I went. What I’d been reduced to. I told him how I felt lucky now and didn’t have to end up being this guy, being Randy.

"A while later I got a call in the middle of the night: he said he’d written a little song, for nothing. It’s ****ing beautiful, right? I was honoured he took the time, because he’s a busy cat. I mean, I’m so goddam proud of this magical movie and to have Bruce’s input… ain’t nobody in Hollywood with all their millions can just ring the man and he’ll do a song, y’know?"

The Wrestler is released in the UK on January 16.

Meanwhile, Springsteen’s new album, Working The Dream, is released on January 27. The track “The Wrestler” will appear as a bonus track.

Damn that looks great! It's gonna be one of those movies you experience rather than watch IMO The Springsteen song sounds good as well.

Just watched the trailer. Looks great. I'm a wrestling fanatic so whenever the opportunity comes for me to see this I will definitely be there.

wow. yeah, it looks great. looks like exactly what i want it to be. and all the kudos from the critics will bring in the uninitiated

Agreed 100%, and the documentary style I think is a good idea. This looks like such a different picture from Aronofsky's previous. Rourke looks to be as good as advertised as well. I'll definitely be in line opening weekend.

That Springsteen song was really good
