Darren Aronofsky is taking on The Wrestler

Rourke was obvious ly amazing. but i was suprised with Evan Rachel Wood. very good performance from her.

the movie is good.

Finally saw it the other day, incredible movie. Rourke better get that Oscar.

I saw this tonight - it was a great film. Mickey Rourke was incredible, I would love to see him get the Oscar for this. I loved the way Aronofsky filmed so we were seeing everything from Ram's point of view for the entire movie.

I also a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, so I stayed through the credits just to hear the song. Great song. I hope he wins the Oscar that as well.

it's all about the ending... really really heart wrenching... i'm STILL thinking about this film... it gets to you big time... what an excellent film

My favorite scene was his gung ho enthusiasm while he's trying to play entertainer while working at the sandwich deli... i mean such a simple construct, yet so so brilliantly done... very well shot, well edited and beautifully acted out by Rourke... kick ass film

That ending was great - it had the best line of the whole movie:

"The only place I don't get hurt is out there." (or close to that, I don't have the exact line)

I loved the deli scene as well.

I saw Milk tonight and Sean Penn was brilliant, but I would really love to see Mickey Rourke win the Oscar for this one.

I still havent seen the movie yet..But I will soon.

None of my local theaters is getting this movie...it's pretty interesting that this movie is actually online already too.

and has anyone made any Evil FOX comments about this movie yet? I mean, it's under FOX Searchlight, right? ;)

I think anyone has a problem with Fox Searchlight. It's the big franchise movies from the main studio where things tend to go wrong.

The Wrestler is set to go into wider release on 1/23. I had to see in NYC because it's not playing in NJ, which is ironic, since the whole movie takes place in NJ.

The screening I went to the other night was sold out. It was in the smallest theater (the stadium seating part only has 3 rows), but people were actually sitting on the steps and one guy just stood for whole the movie.

Wow. I'm surprised the ushers allowed them to do that or, maybe they don't care in NYC. :D

and you know what I mean about FOX. People have had something to say about their entire movie business period.

I saw this earlier this evening. I would say it is the second best movie of 2008, right behind Slumdog Millionaire. Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood gave outstanding performances, with Rourke proving that he can truly be a serious actor. Darren Aaronofsky's direction was great as well.

10/10

No, they care. There was a premiere going on at the theater that night, so they appeared to be too busy to check. No idea what the premiere was for, though.

That's because their business usually stinks when it comes to big franchise movies. The smaller films are usually handled much better.

Saw it the other day. Loved it. It was everything I expected it to be. Aronofsky didn't disappoint me. Unlike Fincher and Boyle.

I felt so bad for Darren. At the Critics Choice Awards when the film won an award, he came up to the stage and everyone was clueless of who he was. Kate Perry even said, "I don't know who this person is."

He came up to the stage and said, "I'm Darren, and I'm the director." In like a "hey, I directed this film and no one cares" way.

Dammit, it's a shame peopple don't pay more attention to the filmmakers. Oh, well. No paparazzi.

Mickey Rourke won the Golden Globe for best actor tonight.

yeah but at the golden globes they popped for him when mickey mentioned him. people in the business know and respect him. and fans of film do too. that's plenty.

the joker and a wrestler won the top acting awards tonight. if the same thing happens at the oscars, i will be very pleased =)

I'm stoked that Mickey won, I was rooting for him to win, what a comeback he's made excellent stuff, congrats Mickey, way to go!!!:applaud:applaud:applaud

Best moment of the night lol.

Mickey Rourke thanked his dog in his acceptance speech lol

I hate hate hate the fact that this movie, an actually emotional and quality movie, gets behind that other sappy, predictable, cliché-overloaded and overrated piece-of-s**t movie like Memoirs of a Slumdog :cmad:
