I'd watch that movie again just for that scene but won't.

I watched that movie once and liked it...just wasn't expecting the depressing as hell ending. Hit me kind of hard for some reason.

Looking forward to The Wrestler. Loved Rourke in Sin City and I remember in middle school my friends and I watched Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man a number of times.

Good to see Rourke is slowly making something of a comeback.

searchlight is usually very good with their indie movies.

I'm still kinda sad to see some indie lables like Picturehouse and WB Indie die though.

indie is never going to die, it was just a business decision on Warners to close down Picturehouse/WB INdie. I also think the term is now used too often but it's never going to go away.

I know it's been mentioned, but man was I surprised it actually took home the Golden Lion. Don't get me wrong or anything, I think the movie will be fantastic, I've adored Aronofsky's previous films, and I have a lot of faith in him personally.

But, I mean it's the first American movie to win in, like, 15 years and, as far as to my knowledge, the only American movie to win the award solo. Just fuels my anticipation.

Since ROH helped out in filming this, I wonder if they realize that this is not going to be a positive movie about the wrestling business. I doubt WWE wants it as an advertiser.

i'm sure ROH knows what it's about. and they probably see it as a smart move because it is a LOT of exposure for their product.

well the ram takes steroids. it exposes the business and shows the effect it can have on a weak man. i wouldn't necessarily say it paints a negative picture, but it definitely shows the less glamorous side. much like "beyond the mat"

Ah, ok, well, from what I had heard previously, there very little look at the inside workings of the wrestling business, and it was simply about his character (Well, and other characters, of course).

yeah. for sure. it is very much a character study. but at the same time, it is a different look at the business that many people have never seen.

it's a movie about the man. but he exists in the business. so like, they will talk about spots in a match, they will talk about blading and all that kind of stuff.

And it's filmed in a very documentary-ish way (from what we've heard). That's something I cannot wait to see.

just read this little story on a wrestling site

"The critically acclaimed movie "the Wrestler", which features a small part from WWE's R-Truth, has been picked up by Fox Searchlight for $4 Million after it created huge buzz on the film festival circuit. It will now receive a full theatrical release."

We already knew all that, but i emphasized the most interesting sentence. they could either be wrong, or i could have just creamed my pants. it would be both. but i hope it's just the latter.

i want to see this get a wide release.
