David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method"

Well then this movie may well be her shot to change my mind.

And also on a side note, I think she gets a lot of crap for being in those 4 crappy movies I mentioned.

But, she was not bad in any of them. Far from it really. The scripts and characters may have been bad, she certainly wasn't.

For some reason, those crappy movies resonates with people in their views on Keira, despite doing great but indie work as of late.

She was wonderful in Pride and Prejudice and Atonement, both did of which got quite a bit of exposure.

But then again, the press just seem to like to mention that she is a skinny girl. Not unhealthy, just skinny.

Seperating whether a bad performance in a film is the actor's fault or the script or poor direction is always very difficult to assess. That's why I wouldn't have gone simply off of her work with one single director. But then she made Domino, which had a completely different writer & director and it still sucked. My opinion of her changed after that.

I liked Hidalgo....mildly. But that's only 2 movies. I've seen at least 4 of Knightly's. How many do you need to see before giving an opinion? It's not like I just saw her once and concluded 'pfft!..she sucks!'. I like to give actors a fair shot. It's not like I said 'She's in this movie?! Hell, I'm not seeing it now.' But her presence in the film inspires no confidence in and of itself to me. Maybe I'll be wrong. We'll just have to wait and see. All I really did was give my first impressions on the trailer.
You've seen her playing two characters.

Its not the number of movies thats the point, its about having seen the right movies. Pretty much all the greatest actors of all time has done more than 4 bad/mediocre performances.

So this film will be attempt #3 for me with her acting. I already said that I'm likely going to see the movie. And I've only seen Fassbender in 2 roles as well. He rocked them both.

Have you seen him in Jonah Hex? :awesome:

Fassbender spanking Knightley made me all like ":awesome:."

I never saw Jonah Hex. I don't go see movies that I am really sure I won't like. Why waste money?

Isn't that what Netflix is for?

Do you not see the double standard in your post?

Not really. If one knows they will very likely not like a movie then what's wrong with not wasting time &/or money to see it? When I first saw POTC1 & Domino, I had no idea whether I would like them or not but was willing to give them a chance and I saw them in theaters. I only saw the other two POTC movies on Netflix because I just wanted to give Verbinski a fair 3 trys before I wrote him off for good.

fassbender, mortsesen and cassel? in a movie? all three? there shouldnt be any doubt anymore...

I don't know why anyone's doubting how good Knightley will be. It's David Cronenberg for christsake. The man has a sterling reputation for getting the absolute best out of his actors. Golblum and Davis in The Fly, Mortensen in Eastern Promises, Bello and Hurt in A History of Violence, Weller in Naked Lunch, Irons in Dead Ringers, Walken in The Dead Zone. Shall I go on?

I could be an ass and say 'then why did you see Green Lantern', but I wont.

Oops.

It's Cronenberg so I'll be there for sure. Cool trailer.

Well, because there actually was a small amount of hope with GL. I could tell Hex was toast as soon as I saw a trailer for it. And watching superhero movies is kinda my thing. So I'll generally watch even a bad one(though I have yet to see Punisher: War Zone). Jonah Hex to me isn't a superhero movie. It's just a movie that happens to be based on a comic book(and I don't feel obligated to see those unless they look good).

You know, I somewhat doubt it due the focus not squarely being on him, but I wonder if this film will at all feature Freud's cocaine use. Thoughts anyone?

It might feature him doing a line here and there (or however they ingested it back then) but I doubt it will be a major plot point.

I'll bet they did something like desolving it in liquid and drinking it.

i love cronenberg. i'll watch anything he does. though, i'd love to see him get back to his horror roots. the brood, rabid, and shivers are his best works and some of the all time best horror films.
