this is exciting news. Finally there's some movement on this franchise. I can't wait to see the list of possible contenders for the role!

Wow. The news is hitting hard and fast. If Spidey is cast tomorrow I'll have a heart attack.*knock on wood*

I find it funny that Legendary is the one that kickstarted this. WB/DC seemed ready to sit on it for a few more years.

I don't know if the idea of an established Superman is a good one. Origin stories are so successful because we feel like we learn and grow with the character.

I'd be surprised, personally, if its an established Supermanala SUPERMAN LIVES or RETURNS. It could be something like Burtons first Batman movie and just kind of ignore the origin but start at the beginning.

Just look at the Captain America testing news we got today, that is where the next Superman will be.

REALLY? Casting usually takes within the final 6 months before production, correct?

Is Superman going to be lensing in by or during 2011?? That would mean it will be in 2012....:awesome:

Unfortunately, this news may ignite the pre vs post crisis argument again.

Depends, if he is established he could be a 30 something actor. So it could be a whole different pool.

Can't say I'm really thrilled about this. I haven't ever seen Goyer really deliver well on anything, except for the Batman films, and he was just helping with those. Most of the guys stuff just really sucks.

So exciting. Brainiac and Luthor is perfect.

Cudmore for Supes!

"Just helping with those"? He wrote a vast majority of Batman Begins.

People need to give Goyer more credit. He's directed some bad films, but is writing is excellent.

Goyers draft for Bb was better than the final film. I dont think writing is his problem.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not crazy about Goyer's involvement but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since Nolan has his hand in this as well.

I'm very disappointed Routh won't be invloved but I knew that was a strong possiblilty.

Hmm, I don't really think Goyer is a good writer so I'm a little worried. But if he's just doing the story or writing a first draft and handing it over to someone else to finish and polish it I'd be ok with it. Oh and reboot ftw.

****, Goyer wrote Dark City, I can see this having some really good scifi elements with Goyer on board.

Yeah I think thats gonna be how its gonna go. I can't see WB just letting this whole story rest in his hands.

I hate to see Routh go, but I'm glad TMOS is finally getting under way.

I am VERY surprised at how fast thing is coming together. The film could legit be shooting by this winter. Not only that but we seem to be a step behind.

I really wonder if W.B. is eyeing a December, 2011 release.

Its not even march. If the scripts, they really just need to hire their director (which has probably already happened, or is about to) and they can preproduction, with casting this summer and filming beginning this fall.

Its all happening very fast...a lot like it did with Superman Returns. I do not mean that as an insult rather, Superman films have kind of exploded onto the scene and either taken off ala returns of misfired ala everything else.

This is going to be interesting to follow.

I want to see who is being eyed for the role of Superman now.

Could you please provide a link for Goyer's draft?

Its not worth reading, it is basically the SAME FILM-diaglogue and everything-aside for:

-before Batman beats down criminals at the docks, he scares the bejesus out of Falcone and in his men in an alley.
-Gordon never drives the Batmobile, rather punches out Flass and steals their car instead
-Batman and Ra's fight on the roof the train, rather than in it, withslightly different dialogue.

Everything else is the same.

Finally!! Some NEWS!!

I'm a bit disappointed when it said it won't be an "origin" movie.

However, that doesn't mean we won't see Superman's origin in the film.

It also said that it will involve more Kryptonian mythology.

I think while it will feature an already established Superman......we will see his origin in flashbacks as we learn more about the Kryptonian mythology/history....

at least.....I hope so.....

One thing I hoped they learned from SR is that you can't automatically assume the audience will be familiar with the characters......I hope they don't make that mistake again.

If there is going to be a huge Krypton backstory, I think it is safe to say his origin is going to, at the very least, be mentioned.

Wow, interesting times ahead. Good too see it's a 100% reboot, none of this quasi-sequel crap, hopefully this leads to Big Blue finally getting a kick arse series.
