Guys i wouldn't worry so much about the origin. I'm sure they'll have elements in the film and then flesh out the rest in another film later. And don't worry about the general audience being confused, my wife is a perfect example of the general audience and her favorite version of supes so far is Lois and Clark. That show started his first day in metroplis, didn't bog itself down with his origin although in talking with his parents enough of it was revealed. It was more character driven. The general audience just wants to be entertained by a good solid movie with great characters and some solid action. They're not going to care if we see him fly to earth from krypton or not, just told her about the new movie last night and she thought it was a good idea to just start with an established superman.

there is another thread discussing it anyway. lol

**** 3D. Nothing but a gimmick to jack up ticket prices. This fad will pass.

lol Tell me how you really feel Jamie? Just read an article the other day talking about how studies are showing that 3D could be detrimental to your vision, especially younger audiences.

If they did 3D, they would have to do it avatar style. That could lead to some unbelievably epic scenes.

I agree that it's a gimmick, but I'm afraid it's not a fad. It appears Hollywood is determined to implement it as a viable format. My local theater had Avatar on 2 screens when it was released and both screens were 3D. They weren't even giving the option of 2D for people in my town. Their goal is to get rid of 2D of course so they can charge higher prices. My main problem with it is that I always notice the glasses in my peripheral vision.

Also what about ppl that can't see 3D? I mean my brother only has 1 eye so will he have to suffer the consequences if they completley ditch 2D?. I also have an eye disease that has almost rendered me blind in oen eye & as a result I can't see proper 3D much anymore either. If they decide to only create 3 then they will lose money.

Steve

they won't ditch normal viewings of the films. It will be just like Avatar and have one theater showing 3D and one without.

I hope we get some rumors tomorrow on the director because i'll be in Florida all next week on vacation, no internet access.:(

The 3D fad is the 1950's all over again. I hate it.

As I said earlier, my town's theater had Avatar showing on two 3D screens when it was released but zero 2D screens. They are still implementing 3D capability (projectors, etc.) across the country, so I am not too sure that they will intentionally offer a movie in both formats once 3D capability is more widespread.

Avatar 3D was one of the greatest experiences of my life in the theater. Especially on IMAX. I just not understand this hatred for it. It`s plain ridiculous.

The movie sucking helped. But it looked great. So who needs a well-told story, performances that bring the characters to life, a good pace, etc.

yeah, he's not that old being 39 but i can bet you when he hits his 40s, he'll age badly.

He's not like Johnny Depp who has retained youth through the lazarus pits.

Not really. It's a tool, like an anything else. For example, CGI can be used to make a quick buck (just watched G.I. Joe and I died inside a little), or it can be used for greatness.

but I don't think 3D is an evolution as CGI was. it's just an accessory that you can add.

CGI has done wonders in not just special effects, but for green screen, erasing wire work, matte painting.

Avatar sucked

Maybe you just needed to see it in 3d *snickers*

Seriously the 3d elements actually served the story well for the most part. It doesn't have to be used as a gimmick.

Comparing 3D to CGI is ridiculous.

I've actually seen people compare it to color, sound, surround sound...but the argument quickly ends when you ask them, "Did any of those luxuries require the audience to wear a contraption?" :hehe:

I saw it opening night. In 3D. Utterly bored. Yeah the $500 million budget is on-screen and yeah, it looked great. But Cameron forsake story-telling (which he's usually a big champ of) for the technology - wanted to play with his shiny new toys.

The movie was crap. Surely no one would be stupid enough to reply with a "Well it made a lot of money! So there!" excuse. Plenty of crap movies make a fortune. I'll save you the time and say "Get a real argument"

That`s your problem then. If it passes Titanic and breaks the 1 billion mark, i say it is good. Most of the world agrees with me.

3D is not a fad. It`s just like movies having sound and color in the past. It`s here to stay.

I`m pretty sure that all big action blockbusters will be in 3d from now on.

I for one would love to see Superman flying though the clouds in IMAX 3D, wooshing sound in surround sound :)

The tagline?

"You`ll believe you can fly"

Heh, you are straight shooter.

There was a lot of buzz when I came out of the theater. We had a group of 7 people. All of them were actually quiet while watching (amazing) and everyone around us outside of the group was actually watching. RARE these days. At the end, a lot of people actually clapped (which I didn't because I find that silly to do at the movies)

It seemed pretty well received by most that saw the real 3d live.
