So people won't bring it up in other threads. It appears Goyer may no longer be part of the DCCU outside of JL. This is all speculation based as he doesn't seem to be attached to any DC film projects, only television. Do you guys think he is slowly being phased out or will he be simply utilized as the idea guy?

I don't care what anyone says he's an asset to have as a consultant. He also gets far to much **** for the bad stuff but no praise for the good stuff he does.

Is it possible he hasn't been announced to be part of anything because things are way too early on production? Eitherway, the guy has a lot of comic book knowledge so like BHHHH said, he's a good consultant.

He's got Story credit for BVS along with Chris Terrio.

Still on the official BVS website if you go there and click "Credit"

It's certainly possible, but think of this thread as a lightning rod for this discussion as it appears numerous times in other threads in the SuperBat Boards. But again it's all speculation based. If he does have a film after JL, then I wish him all the luck in the world.

This is more about his involvement in projects after JL Part One & Two.

I hope he's not been phased out completely. I think Goyer has good ideas, he just has a little trouble with execution at times. For all of Man of Steel's flaws, I still think the movie gets more right than it gets wrong. And while I like most Marvel films, I would say the film is just as good if not better than many of them. At the very least, it's far from this massive disaster some some people make it out to be.

That said, I don't want Goyer being the idea man behind everything, because no single person should have that responsibility. We all have our preferences for certain characters over other ones, and that can show in the material. For example, look at Bryan Singer's treatment of Wolverine and Cyclops in the first two X-Men movies.

Agree with you completely. I like Goyer and am willing to follow his work. But we do need some new hands on deck, new ideas, new talent, gotta keep it fresh. Hell, X-men needs it too. I want someone else to come in to any property and shake it up a bit.

Yeah. I feel like just giving one person the keys to the Ferrari and saying "Do what you want with it" usually isn't a good idea, at least when it comes to properties like these.

Exactly, keep him on as a consultant, over-seer of some sort, sure. But he should NOT write every single film for it. Plus, I'm sure he doesn't want to anyways.

I'm fine with it. They have Geoff Johns to serve as the comic book mind on these movies now. They don't need him anymore.

I'll be happy if he's completely gone. As far as I can tell, the only positive thing he contributes is his CBM knowledge, and after the complete disdain he's declared for certain characters (eg, Martian Manhunter), I don't think I like him contributing even that. They have Geoff Johns for that now. And while I'm not really a fan of his, either, I still consider him a step up from Goyer. At least he has respect for the characters and their history and is less worried about everyone being "badass."

I'm glad he's gone. His writing is what really hurt Man of Steel. He has good ideas but never thinks those ideas fully though and lacks subtlety as a writer. His dislike of Martian Manhunter also annoys me too.

I should also note that Goyer's not even attached to Justice League. Terrio is supposed to be writing that too.

I'll have to agree with it. His execution was always the problem, but his concepts haven't been too bad. At the same time, they have Geoff Johns now as others stated, who I think is much better in terms of concepts than Goyer.

I thought he had a "Story By" credit or something.

Ugh. "Goyer has good ideas but isn't a great writer" is one of those things I wish people would stop saying over and over again.

I'm sure he is or will still be involved in the movie universe in some capacity.

I mean, he has to be given a credit. We know that he and Snyder were working on the story before it was announced in July 2013. That said, the fact that the hired Terrio to do a rewrite (just two months before production was set to start, and was eventually delayed for nearly four more) should say alot. And the EW article pegged him to be alongside Snyder crafting the DCEU (something that was attributed to Goyer from the beginning), while not mentioning Goyer, should say even more.

My theory?

As reported, Goyer was set to craft the DCEU alongside Snyder, with Geoff Johns (whom we know is co-writing 'The Batman' with Affleck) as a consultant.

Goyer and Snyder nailed down the story around the time Affleck boarded. And like MOS, Goyer was set to tackle scripting duties alone. But when the initial draft of the script came in around November, it was poop, and had the same issues as MOS; Issues they hoped to fix and avoid going forward.

At this point the studio and Snyder was wary, and Affleck likely objected entirely. It was at that point they brought in Terrio to simply polish what Goyer did. But after a few months of working on that, it was collectively decided to do a complete rewrite of it, and delay the start of production until late-May/early-June.

What Terrio eventually delivered was so good, that they decided to move on without Goyer, and hand his former duties over to Terrio, including writing JLA Part I and helping to craft the connective the connective tissue of the DCEU.

That said, Goyer is still working with the studio as he inked a 3-picture deal for his own projects in late 2013, and was a producer on Constantine until it was cancelled.

But as far as the DCEU, Goyer is out.

personally dont mind, maybe we can get something other than dark gritty grim realism now in a dccu

Just because they have Geoff Johns doesn't mean they can't use Goyer. They might be able to tackle different problems and come up with different ideas.

Whatever lines of dialogue people don't like in BvS will be attributed to Goyer. The good lines will be attributed to Terrio.

All evidence pionts to this being the case

In case of BvS, Goyer is only credited for the story part, I believe most of the story has been rewritten, maybe first two acts written by Goyer have been kept intact. (which were good enough to get Affleck interested in the first place)

However, Goyer is not involved in the script and dialogue, that is all Terrio.
