Sequels David S. Goyer's Defunct Venom Script

So they don't have the rights to spidey but have rights to spidey's villain, why?

Cuz he was the only spidey villain (besides Kingpin) that wasn't part of the Spidey-Embargo rights. The rights were obviously later picked up by Sony.

Sounds bad no offense

Thank you for your honest opinion, I was brainstorming and just came up with it as an alternative to a solo Venom flick. I was kinda thinking we had not seen a good coop movie since Roger Rabbit and balancing some of the A-listers with non would be good but oh well.I hope the Venom fans eventually get what they want in the theaters, I think they deserve it no matter what others say.The Goyer plan if I understand it, reminds me of what was kicked around for the Alien(s) saga when they eventually settled on #3. If that is true, I hope they do not wreck a potential good thing.

Goyer wrote The Crow: City of Angels, which cancels out a million Blades. He even self-plagiarized the "you're supposed to be dead", "sorry to disapoint you" dialouge from COA in Batman Begins. I was almost certain he would do it again later in the film and have Batman summon a 'murder of bats' to fly through his chest and carry Ras Al Ghul's soul away.

The fact he had anything to do with TDK means he's allowed to do anything up to killing and eating people in my book.

I bet Goyer always put his name on group assignments he had nothing to do with in highschool, and messed around with the fat goth chick and actually thought his friends wouldn't find out even though it was obvious what was going on.

ummmm right.

It wouldn't have been perfect without the Spidey origin but a Goyer Venom movie would have been 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,0000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
better than the vomit that Lazy Sam and Bird Chested Blowphie gave us.

i disagree,
even though "3" screwed the pooch on venom and his death, at least they got his origin correct...

His origin in SM3 could have been written better by a 5 year old. Whoever suggested that the symbiote just fall out of the sky and happen to find Peter should lose their job. That is pathetic...as was Eddie's look, manner of speech, introduction to the symbiote, interaction with the symbiote, Venom's look, Venom's style of fighting...it was all wrong..so painfully wrong.

And yet better than a planet of spiders. If Goyer had made a Venom movie it would be about as good as his other directorial offerings, the terrible Blade Series pilot and "The Invisible". Spiderman 3 has pathetic story elements but is no where near as worthless as those examples, it actually has its moments. And even Spiderman 3's script, which is clearly not the movie's strongest aspect, is better than The Crow: City of Angels or Jumper's scripts.

Goyer is a tremendous writer and he would have done Venom justice. He wouldn't have been intimidated by Venom's darkness and depth the way Lazy Sam was. Goyer may not be the best director but he wouldn't have doomed Venom from the start with a juvenile storyline and a B-movie actor.

^Before you say that Goyer is tremendous...did you even read the plot for this? A symbiote planet with spiders and a sort of hierarchy where they kick out members

He doesn't care, hes just ignorant and hates Topher so much, that he thinks anything can be better

Topher may have been wrong for the role of Venom, but damn he did good in it.

Planet with Symbiotes and spiders? Venom and Carnage?

Fail.

I have mixed feelings on that. Obviously, I think Venom's on-screen debut should have been a very close adaptation of ASM #300. However, I was intrigued by Goyer's planet of the symbiote-like idea. He writes bizarre stuff, most of which is very good. He could have made it work. At any rate, it certainly would have been better than " The symbiote just falls out of the sky with no backstory and Eddie Brock just happens to be in the same church as Peter, standing directly under him, and the symbiote falls on him." That is so bad, so utterly lazy and mundane, it's painful.

It's not just Twig Boy's performance or lack thereof, it was the entire fecal matter sandwich that Lazy Sam force fed us with Venom's character. It was completely wrong from the start.

Mysterious creature from an unknown comet is better than a planet full of spiders and symbiotes :o

I couldn't disagree more. The symbiote's origin in SM3 could have made Joel Schumaker blush with shame.

Ugh...Thank god it didn't happen...I think Goyer is overrated, personally...

i like Goyer overall, BATMAN BEGINS, THE DARK KNIGHT, DARK CITY, BLADE, BLADE II, but he also did the Nick Fury tv movie, CROW: CITY OF ANGELS, BLADE: TRINITY, and I have his MAGNETO script and it's really good... and the flick INVISIBLE is OK, not bad, but not great.

So for every great thing he's done, he has a real piece of $#!t he makes also...
